You could spend $500 on the auto Hamilton Khaki H70575733 field watch or you could get this high value excellent "Smokejumper" field watch.  Made by Momentum, this is a flat wearing awesome looking watch from the "Atlas" lineup.  With that in mind, I'll also review in this WRV it's brother, the "Atlas 44."  It is a big improvement of the lilliputian 38mm version that I got rid of, the Atlas 44 is perfectly sized and has great wrist presence.

Both watches have big personalities but in different ways:  the Smokejumper is tactical black and stealthy, the Atlas 44 possesses a lume face with stark black arrow hands.  Each looks like a technical field watch and has legible day/date...a rarity it seems.  Both run on the entirely adequate Seiko VX43E quartz movement powered by 371 battery.  Sapphire, AR coated crystal option is shown and discussed but I think it's a waste of money.

Their excellent strap options, clear markings, 100M water resistance, great looks, and versatile sizing make both the Atlas 44 and the cooly named Smokejumper a favorite field watch.

As a bonus you'll see the Nutnfancy programmed version of the Smokejumper at the end of the video!  Also a fun Robotech and B24 discussion ensues!

Momentum Field Watches: Smokejumper, Atlas 44!

Titanium’s is cool and all, but women don’t know it’s expensive since it’s not heavy. Only the lowest quality pig iron in may watches allowed!

Notmyshadow

Those are simple yet handsome.

I like to use the link to watch the Patreon videos through YouTube. I noticed this video is set up as a “kid friendly” video. I’m just curious of the motivation behind that decision. Thanks for all the good content, keep up the hard work.

Tex

Love the watch videos. I have been doing quite of bit of watch market research, and I realized I may need to build the watch with the configuration I want.

Lon N

Not a watch guy, but I dig the Smokejumper. If you do choose to program it, I think it would look great with the silver hand borders repainted to match the tip of the second hand.

Connor Murphy

Thanks for the video, By the way, I got me and my Dad each got a TNP Kalashnikov and they came in several days ago, I got #11 and man I'm loving it. They turned out fantastic!

Brad Fegan

They all are good looking watches. I really like the Szanto

Powernoodle

I love the big, bold, easy to ready look.

Powernoodle

The black Smokejumper is titanium, not stainless yo.

Rob B

I like the Smokejumper best. Nutn, how about a short video about aircraft models? What to look for, reasonable prices, good sites to buy them from, etc.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

I like the Santo watch. the strap especially is more to my taste. Leather backed but not leather top.

HappyFrancisMacomber

Was about to pull trigger on black Hamilton khaki until I saw this...smokejumper looks great with hands mod too

When comparing the Atlas-44 and the Smokejumper, I prefer the full compliment of numerals on the SJ. Both have good contrast, which is important to me as my eyesight begins to deteriorate with age. Aimant Kotor looks pretty cool and I would actually prefer the green leather strap of the Kotor over the blackout look of the Smokejumper. Between the Szanto Military Field and the SJ, I'd vote for the Szanto. It also looks a lot like my Seiko SNE331 (purchased based on a previous WRV). I think the SJ looked great after your NHM. That's the first time I've seen the TNP Blue used on something other than knife handles. I think it looks excellent on this timepiece.

PHILLIP DOUBLE U

I prefer the smoke jumper over the Atlas 44. The numeral and hands on the 44 are a turnoff for me.

CounterMeasure

Have the VAER watches been on your radar, Nutn? I'd be interested in your opinion on those.

DuginIN

Ordered the smokejumper. 20% off, free shipping, no tax. Thanks for the WRV

A Random Walk

Watches, knives and ties. Oh, my...well, except for that last one.

Logan Holmberg

As an Avid Macross/Robotech collector that is a training Valkyrie from episodes 1 and 2. The model is the VF-1D.

Logan Holmberg

Love the seconds hand on the watch. I'm a sucker for any watch that adds some color to the seconds hand.

Logan Holmberg

FYI if you ever send the watch to them for service to extend the warranty or for damage they will put saphire crystal on the watch for a reasonable price. Its what I did on my Vortex GMT,

Mike

Well great just like all Vids I look this watch then another, and then what happens down the Rabbit hole I go. Now I have a Alpina StarTimer Pilot Big Date on the way. Killin me smalls..

Ryan Reese

The case back is etched “COVID” now. Priceless addition. 😁 I hope we’re all able to look back at this time and remember some cool projects that we completed.

Bluegill097

Great vid! I struggle with coughing up money for quarts watches though. I did however just cave for an Original Grain wood watch.... which was quarts.... it was just different than anything else I have but I am anxious thinking it’s gonna be a bust

GMAX

Maybe take us through a watch mod, teach us some of what you've learned programming, I'm sure there are a bunch of us that would dig it.

Curran Carini

Lobe how that watch came out after modding

ThisWe'llDefend

I bought the Atlas 44 after watching this review. Mine is the same configuration as yours with the titanium case, sapphire crystal, luminous face with black numerals and hands. I really dig the aesthetic and it is super lightweight. I got mine with the leather band which I do NOT recommend. It is good quality leather, but is too short to make it into the second keeper on my wrist. I will be getting a Zulu replacement band soon. Best wishes!

Emerson Evans

Love the mod. The blue second hand—damn that looks good
