We take it to the Bunker with TacticalDoodle in attendance to summarize our experience so far with the Freedom Ordnance FX9.   Coming in 4", 8" (this one, rec'd), and 16" flavors, the FX9 went on several outings.

An easily rectified problem emerged discussed.  But then the gun performed amazingly well making it one of our favorite lightweight AR9s we've shot to date.  The last shot hold open, Glock mag capability, good accuracy, and stellar reliability won us over.

A highly recommended PCC option.

Also included is yet another TacticalDoodle rant on how gun mfrs need to locktite their damn guns!  (In this case put in better fire control group pins!)

This was filmed in 2019 well before the Pandemic but you'll see at the end of the video some wise advice on food storage!

Sweet, I’ve really been interested in PCC but never compromised to one. After this review I may just go for it.

David Gaines

TNP cranking out the content! I love it! PCC is a great class. I love my Sub2k. It’s the perfect gun in my truck’s get home bag. Light and compact. Only downside is the heavy ammo. Drop the Watch Basics for me, man! 😂

Lon N

I just pulled a muscle in my lower lip, pouting that this isn't the next installment of the Valkyrie series.. Thanks Nutn, all GRV's are good times.

Mike

The rant bit and comments thereafter were magic yet another great vid.

Elliot

Love the review, Doodle was in top form, so funny. You'd like the Extar EP9. $420 bucks, 4lbs, glock mags, last shot hold open, and an SB SOB brace. I know I know another one of these pistols but if I am going to spend $650-$800 bucks I'm buying a rifle, not a 9mm. at $420 dollars having a AR pattern 9mm range toy is bit more reasonable.

Brian Bartos

Brigade PCC here, also LSHO Glock mags. Love it!

NUTNFANCY The Destroyer of Credit Cards!

Thanks for another bad ass video! Also...thanks for not being ashamed of your faith (referring to bug out kit videos)

Great video. Just made a "philosophical" PCC purchase, much more rational than most of my HK buys! Got a Windham RP9 for home defense. Easier to aim (especially with red dot) and much higher capacity than the handgun I've had in the home defense role. Smaller, lighter and much higher capacity than a pump shotgun. And I'm already super familiar with the AR platform. Hoping it's reliable. It isn't in its role yet since due to lockdown, haven't been able to take it to the range and run some hollow points through it. BTW the Freedom Ordnance was the competitive option, and I went for the Windham mainly because of aesthetics, also because I don't like the 3-4 oz. muzzle device and the long rail (obvious small things). What I should finally add is that I'm not putting a standard AR in the home defense role because I live in a rowhome and will soon be moving to an apartment! The 9mm can overpenetrate for sure but much better I think than shooting 5.56 on the block.

Pedro

Only thing I find strange is in manufacturing site it says aluminum case ammo will void warranty.

Rob B

Really want to love the Sub2K, but it’s super difficult to shoot through the iron sights if you’re wearing prescription glasses (which I wear, obviously). The AR9s allow for red dot use much more easily. Anyone here own a PSA AKV? Reliable? Accurate?

Scout154

I have a Sub2k but I have been really wanting one of these!

Justin Carwile

I have been in and out of wanting to get a 9mm subgun style of some sort. The only real justification I can come up with is that it suppresses a lot better and is cheaper to shoot than say a small 300 BO gun. But for the majority of folks not dabbling in the NFA and suppressor game, I agree it becomes a hard sell. When .223 is no worse on recoil and you can shoot steel case for barely more money than 9mm, what's the point.

Mark Horan

Good Review. Hard to find inexpensive last shot bolt hold open witch Glock Mags. I don't believe the Endomags were out Feb of 2019, but the MEAN ARMS AR-9 ENDOMAGS allow you to convert the magpul AR-15 mags to 9mm. The Endomags would give the Palmetto upper in 9mm the last shot bolt hold open capability. I was to cheap to buy the CMMG Banshee so I built one using the CMMG 8 inch Barrel and BCG kit for $374. I was able t build for around $700 using an Anderson lower and cheap hand guard with Rock River Trigger. Endomags could be worth reviewing especially since I already bought some. I wold like to buy a Palmetto upper in 9mm to see the difference in recoil with the CMMG. Seems like the blow back design is really reliable. Appears to be a good purchase if you do not want to build your own.

Carl Bailey

Thanks for the review. I have seen these around and didn't know if they were really decent with all the TPA on YouTube.

Shane

Let's be honest, I'll buy an AR pistol in .223 long before I buy one of these, but I'm still gonna watch the video as soon as I get home from work.

PCC are just fun. I'm pretty sure it's all 2and cool for everybody. The only time I could see it being a 1st cool is solely for a vehicle gun. Hey Nutn can you review a Ruger PC Charger. I want one. To be honest I would already have one if I could find one, but with the current state I not even going to try. Thanks for your hard work. Oh and by the way, i really hate Berry. He is a whinny douche. Just sayin

Kenny VanCleave

You two should really take your act on the road. I feel privileged to watch.

Sushytacos

PCC's I think could be purely a home defense, more specifically an apartment. Especially if you have roomates and you don't want to put a hole through 4 walls, Especially if you live in more restricted states. More rounds than a shotgun and probably somewhat less discombobulating . Especially if there are multiple intruders. Especially since handguns are harder to obtain in some restricted states. ESPECIALLY- just kidding. someone poke some holes in this I like hearing opinions.

Ryan Reese

Sir, I’m not one to call out an O-5 but that is a Gen 1 Sub-2000 featured at the end. Not sure if that’s been pointed out yet. The music and notes during TD’s well warranted rant was hilarious!

Steve Cutter

Haven't finished watching but got a great laugh from Doodle "POU to stave off insanity and depression..." Also "...I thought you were going to say Heroin"

Outrider950

Hey guys. Are you all getting emails about new Patreon videos? I have not received one for the last 4 Nutnfancy releases. Same for MAC and a few others.

Harold Galen McPheron

I'd love to see a PCC in 45 acp to go with those that like the 1911...

Chase Ferguson

So I can tell you why PSA doesn’t have LRBHO. Because 9mm blow backs eat them! Very prone to breaking in AR-9s but I do think they could engineer a nice beefy one and solve that problem easily. But that is the reason many AR9s don’t have it because they break them often just too much mass for regular AR-15 bolt catch.

Lee Lenser

Haha kel-tec = garbage. I own 2 pf-9's and they don't run without hiccups. The sub 2k at my local shop has a seriously weak hinge. Wanted to buy it and couldn't. It sucks because I really liked my Pf9 until the extractor screw head broke off during the second hard core cleaning. Fortunately enough I sold the other Pf9 off and didn't buy the sub2k. Im still stuck with a single Pf9 with know extractor. When they run they run when you clean them they don't.

Don Stricklin

Did NF mention the brand name of the 33rd mag he likes?

Robert Long

Need something better than 9mm in a PCC...I would probably get something in 5.7x28mm...not a lot of options in that caliber for a PCC...hopefully that changes in the future

TenaciousAmerican

Its all about the dollars. The only reason PCC is popular is a tired industry looking for something new to push. i.e. Every kind of Polymer pistol will it beat a Glock? AR market is saturated with slim margins. Keltec inovated, Ruger brought back from the dead. Then there is PSA...AKV is amazing. Everyone else, is their take on utopian ways of capitalism. (LOL) I have heard anecdotal evidence the FX9 charging handle is proprietary...sigh. Sent on a mission today to purchase a PCC, I would get the lowest cost to fit POU. I'll stay with my 5.56 pistol for now. Great Vid, always great analysis!

Racing Psychosis

Born in the wrong era, because mine has a lever and is in 357Mag.

Phake A'Count

I like my Beretta Cx4, bad trigger and all.

Glad to see the Sub2000 still getting some love. I am pretty sure you showed a Gen 1 though....

RepossessedSoul

I don't know if you caught this in the post-editing of the vid but from 36:15 to 37:05 you have a big "NAME" thing pop up above your head. I don't know if there was an intention to have something else entered into a text box or something but I figure it slipped past your notice in the editing. Also, Doodle is in my Thoughts and Prayers to get over his jaundice. The camera makes him look like he escaped from the Simpsons haha. I also find myself in agreement with all the prior posts saying that the most likely reason for the new PCC craze is manufacturers are in a over saturated AR market trying to find some new way to increase their margins.

Rick Hunter

I have the sig mpx and a AR-9. I had a out of battery on the AR and it kind of ruined me for blowback. I am left handed and my right eye is close to the chamber. There's is a company called (mean) that has a roller delayed ar 9 upper coming out soon ( think mp5 and ar had a baby)

Brandon conley

I could see using something like this suppressed for a “nightstand gun.” You could defend the home without waking up the kids (or blowing out your eardrums). But it’s also cool because it just just freakin looks sweet. (2nd kind of cool)

James Parker

13 days later..... Still love my sub2000

HappyFrancisMacomber

Awesome review. Even better letter from TNPr at the end. Regular folks, who are facing adversity and prepared to GRIND through it. My family did the same recently with a broken well pump pigtail - we had water stored to make it 5 days drinking, toilets, bathing. Proud to part of this community!

Skylar Hobbs

Finally made it back to this video. I purchased this a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the echo trigger to work due to the receiver size ... but changing out the springs and cleaning up the burrs on the trigger helped tremendously! Great little ar9 and I paid sub 600 for it! Thanks for the review again man!

Daniel Herb

Been looking to build an AR9 but might just buy this one instead. Thanks for the review!
