"1930s Announcer Man" starts off the WRV in order to intro a new segment:  analyzing Swiss watch advertising.  Breaking it down  it might help us understand "the man behind the curtain."  It's focused in purpose and strives to create certain seductive feelings within the purchaser.  It wants to connect with him on an emotional level...filling voids in his busy life.  Most of these "targets" feel their $7000 purchase represents good value.  For the most part, they are deceived.  Effective advertising is supposed to do that.

There's lots of pushbacks agains these silly $7K Swiss watches, here's another one:  the Fossil Nate chronograph.  Lacking expensive celebrity infused ad campaigns, it's super affordable.  But don't judge it on cost.   The casework, strap, face execution on the Nate series is top notch.  That the watch snobs hate it just lets you know you're on to something good. Check out the varieties too.  Some here have been improved with my programming but it's not necessary; their legibility is excellent.

One superb high value chrono watch is also proffered:  the Aimant Berlin.  It has a different personality but ticks off the same great details as the Nate.  In the end you'll see why the Fossil Nate  is one of my fave watches...even if Brad Pitt doesn't wear one (at least when others are looking!).

Fossil Nate Chrono As Good as Swiss?

Love chronos! They are my “dressy” watch as I feel like they are classy without being over the top. That brown/black Fossil Nate has my attention! PS: Nutn, I found a brand new, with tags still on Gravitymaster GA1000-8a, the one we talked about! I had lost hope but found one (online with Walmart of all places). I’m wearing it now!

I just fixed my Avi-8 Lancaster Bomber with my Juice S2. I used the smallest screwdriver to unscrew the back plate, took out the crown and took the automatic system out of the watch. Then i bend the blocking handels back in position, put everything back together and exchanged the spring pins for the leather strap. Phew! 100 bucks saved! I‘m gonna order myself another one right now!!! X-D

I have a Nate chronograph. Got it on super sale from fossil. Love it. Maybe an cccp automat from drop next? $99 auto from drop styled like a Russian submarine?

I love you fam.... but in these days the last thing I care about are watches....

Certainly cared enough to comment....

Nice score David! Glad you found that one. The treasure hunt makes it cooler too

Hmmm, CCCP watches are pretty good. I will look that up on Drop. Good call on the Nate.

Loving the watch show more and more as time goes on Nutn. Not even really collecting watches yet, but it's fun to get a sense of my own aesthetic while learning some of the ins and outs, and what to look for, from you. My girlfriend and I just celebrated our third year together and I asked for a watch... landed a veeeery sweet Citizen Ecodrive (she gets me!) I'm loving these Fossils but some Amazon searching is making me realize I REALLY like several of the Aimant lines... Anyhow, thanks for these vids. Oh yeah PS love the ad analysis, very interesting.

Another good review - and I say that as someone who is actually not a fan of Fossil. But they have been making some good moves lately; they're choosing better works for their watches and are leveraging their other brandmates (Zodiac!) to deliver handsome and functional designs, as well as some great straps. As fashion watches go, they do deliver - they may not be ISO-certified, but they will stand up nicely to everyday wear and tear. Recommendation: I recently had opportunity to inspect a Bertucci field watch, and I think it has potential. Maybe look into one, if one comes your way?

My first ever analog watch was a Fossil. I saw it in a mall store and asked my mom for Christmas. I was about 12 and I wore it everyday for several years. Been dabbling in watches off and on ever since.

Awesome. Just the other day I was just thinking about buying one of these from all your mini reviews of it in other WRVs. Thanks Nutn!

Really like the subtle aesthetics of this watch, and have several Fossil watches already. I find them to sharp, but not too expensive. I'm searching for one, cause of this vid lol!

Not a Chrono guy, but this was an excellent watch “research” vid! I love it when you bring so many watches to the table

I think they do a good job of building customer reach that's different from a lot of other brands. I know a lot of guys who fondly grab one as an intro to the addiction.

Awesome intro with the marketing explanations, leading into these cool Fossil watches. Thx!
