When you Open Carry you have to subscribe to a new set rules, I talked about it here https://youtu.be/sqD_0SRYj9Y and the video will lead off with that short reminder.  THEN we get to work!  We welcome back Officer Jared into the Project again as he shows us an excellent methodology in protecting your side-holstered handgun.  He'll remind you that many trained officers have executed with their own duty guns when they've lost them.  So it's serious business here.

Our friend and sparring partner Enos shows up again to help OJ in the demonstrations.  He's a good fighter!   But this Nutnfancy video this isn't a show off piece but is intended as a step by step instructional video on how to keep your gun.   Bad guys may have the element of surprise as they launch into an attack to take it from you.  We will go over the same points several times so you can remember.

A surprisingly failure emerges and you can learn from it.  Jared will talk about the importance of SA, living in the yellow, trapping the holster, stance, circle, angles, and more. Another not to be missed TNP freedom and live preserving video for the good guys and gals out there gettin' it done!

Another free TNPP video!

Higher retention levels may reduce speed of draw but lock the gun in better, a Level 1 retention is a good choice, probably better that what you're using now! Safariland Model 6360 ALS/SLS Mid-Ride Level-III Duty Holster for Glock: https://shrsl.com/2dwea

Great to see OJ back!!!

Robert E Lewis

I love when Officer Jared rolls into the project. Always a great video packed with even greater info. Side note, is he still rolling with Glock?

Pedro

Crazy how we as armed citizens practice with our guns and practice holster draws. Yet most who carry don’t have a darn clue how keep that gun in THEIR hands or any hand to hand. Myself included and this echos my want for hand to hand training.

David Knifer

Excellent info in this episode!

Ryan Reese

Loved it. Fun and refreshing TNP video. Definitely opens my eyes to some holes in my system and training. All very solid info to retain.

Todd Strelka

This is such a great video and I have learned a lot. It would be great to train with Jared personally. Glad he is local to Salt Lake City where I am. Thanks Nutnfancy for providing this information. I have a Serpa holster for OC, but I haven't used it in a while. I will have to check out the Safariland holsters. I am carrying IWB, but with a larger firearm with more rounds capacity. I like having the element of surprise.

Patrick Brichta

The juice is loose! I was wondering what happened to OJ just the other day oh, it's great seeing him back on videos again

The Nutnfancy Project

Really helpful skills shown here. I have a couple of other episodes coming too.

The Nutnfancy Project

Yes, the carrying concealed is its own retention level! I mostly do that. The SERPA is still a good holster and I will continue to use them. I mostly think of it in WROL though where allowing bad guys to close to you w/o engaging is less likely. The Safarilands above are definitely stronger though! Thanks Todd.

Todd Strelka

I really like the Streamlight TLR-6 I have mounted on my S&W M&P9 with 4.25" barrel. Holster is an IWB Crossbreed made for the M&P with TLR-6.

Michael B warner

I'm with you on Bitchute Nutn I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned for that👍

Michael B warner

Big thank's for this video BTW this has been a big fear with open carry for me personally. For this reason alone is why I always opted for deep carry. Those guy's are BAD DUDE'S I would want to mess with them in a dark alley lol. I'm going to use this as a baseline to practice these techniques. These are some skills I definitely want to have.

Michael B warner

That's a sweet blade he carries. The blade is made out of Bohler N690 steel. I just ordered myself on lol.

William H

It's great to see OJ back in TNP. Great video. I learned a lot.

Rob B

Legit video Nutn.

Connor Murphy

Oh, man! It's great to have OJ back in the Project! I think the last time we saw him was in the MMA vs Streetfighting vid circa 2014 or so.

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

Wihongi is a BAD dude. He does all of this stuff so fluidly. And it's not particularly easy; his level of physicality allows him to move like a praying mantis. I would not want to be the bad guy that picked shit on a call he was responding to.

Adam Boyd

I carry a Safariland level 3 on duty and lately I've been OCing with it off duty. I highly recommend it.

Joooosh

I’d pay 💰 for more videos like these

Casey Jones

Excellent vid. This showed me how I can utilize previous training in with protecting my gun.

Adam Boyd

Tell us about it in the forum when you get it. I'm thinking about getting one too.

Tacticaldoodle

I still haven't open carried, hopefully I never have to. I need to get some wardrobe pieces that make me look like a sniveler or facebook jockey, would a Kony 2012 shirt put out the "I'm absolutely unarmed and pacifistic"?

bcbrin

TNP Patreon pays off again! Started training BJJ almost 10yrs ago specifically to complement carrying for self-defense. Coincidentally just picked up a Safariland ALS holster for the Glock 35, which is more of a GTW setup than anything, but is a welcome improvement over the Serpa design.

Piotr Fraczek

Good tips. Made me change my EDC blade placement.

RowdyRon

Wow, that was absolute gold. Thanks to OJ and Enos. Great video topic Nutn.

Mike R

Good to see OJ again I still train doing the hitman drill you guys did back in the day. This was a GREAT informative video and definitely something you want to know open carrying. Love to knife as well might have to get one of those in the future, every time I see one of those type daggers I think of “Rambo: First Blood Part II”

Racing Psychosis

I differed with you on the open carry thing in public. At my size and age, I'm not going to intimidate anyone. I want to be concealed the majority of the time. Especially now where there may be civil unrest and LEO's who are a bit nervous and jumpy. If I open carry in public it will be a Safariland ALS, no way am I using other non-retention holster. I hate the SERPA and that trigger finger release. Around the ranch/outdoors, I'll open carry in something like a Bravo Concealment, but that's not in public and has enough retention for the outdoors.

Racing Psychosis

Reminds me of the series of videos that John Lovell "Warrior Poet" did with Craig Douglas at Shiv Works on close in encounters of pistol handling and using something like a TDI or the clinch pick in close.

Casey Jones

I saw that vid with Lovell too. It was amazing to see both instructors utilized a push blade, and the push blades were the same design ( the handle was offset to the blade for the added stability). This video along with Lovells was enough to convince me to buy a push dagger and train with it.

Jonathan-James

Your speakin my language Michael. Rambo talk goes straight to my soul.

Jonathan-James

Agreed Pedro. And its really another layer/advancment. There is always more improvment reguardless of gear or skill set. Side note. I got another takedown recurve about 4 weeks ago. Been doing a little work on form/consistancy and conditioning through repition. Getting it back sooner than I thought I could. Thats due to your archery posts. Tottaly credit you and Racing Psychosis for getting myself back into the decipline.

Nathan P Hubsch

Really good, really simple. Keep out simple stupid. A moto to live by.

Mike R

Haha did you see the new one? I watched it on demand whenever it came out, I just found out that they released a extended cut that’s 13 minutes longer that even more violent. Haha it’s on Amazon prime btw I need to check it out and see the extended cut.

Pedro

Yah proper hand to hand is a weapon that cannot be taken from you. It’s very useful and as a last resort can be quite powerful. Very nice, I also got a new bow. I went with a Olympic recurved made for barebow shooting. I suck with recurved and need practice. Happy to help, while lever guns and bolt guns will be taken by government last archery even more so lol. Doubt they will come for your bow anytime soon lol.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

Officers Jared and Enos are the coolest. I thank them for their service and dedication. They're perfect video partners for Lt. Col. Nutnfancy.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

I will watch this segment MANY times! (My husband says don't EVEN think I can practice on him.)

Robert Ring

Great content. More of these please Nutn! makes me realize how much our Department training is lacking.

Tex

Open question, what would be good options for weak side edged weapons?

Tim Talbot

Nutn, you're a mind reader! I was just re- watching your open carry video and it got me thinking about both retention and defense against unarmed threats.

Matt

Great vid on retention. Good to see some of the previous TNP cast members back.

David R Benkendorf

We are actually issued the Serpa Level 3 with finger and thumb releases. With a lot of repetition, I don't find it to be an issue. But it was one of their lower-riding holsters with a spacer, and while that made for a nice draw, it made the grip constantly snag on the way in and out of patrol vehicles, and the mounting screws were the weak point. After it popped loose on a stop and I looked down to see it had rotated around to point up at my face, I switched to a high ride mount and no spacer. It took an adjustment for drawing, but high and tight is nice. In addition to not catching on things as much, it is a bit harder to grab at, and there's less play in the movement. You wouldn't be able to crank the muzzle out that far and get your arm underneath, but it takes less angle to jam the grip into my side, and now it puts torsion on the belt more than the mount.

William R. Stevens III

Wow I’m so pumped to see OJ back!! Especially when I made the comment about him when u were putting on the hitting display at the cage!!!!!!!

Sheepdog

Great to see Officer Jared back. Thank you officer Jared for what you do to protect and serve. It's disgusting to see the way officers are being treated by many in the nation right now. Just know the silent majority is behind you and your fellow for constitution leo's!

Anthony Schaad

Training is so important, some ppl just think by having a firearm on their hip and their secure. Which just isn’t the case, it’s all about the fight, the firearm is just the most effective tool we choose to use... and it’s effective! Love this vid of you spreading the word Nutn, tactics always trump skill! Train for the fight TNPrs, train train train!

Daniel Herb

Always good to see Officer Jared back and teaching some good lessons.
