Tell your credit card to relax on this one. While interesting and new, the Spyderco Kapara C241 fails to connect to me.  Is it the re-hashed blade design, its slickness, thin radiused deployment hole, the bright clip, the blade finishing?  Yes to all of the above.  But it's also its price.  For this amount the blade needs to be emotional for me.  It ain't.  I roll in the excellent Chapparal for comparison.

But if you buy the Kapara and love it, tell me why, and change my mind!

Great video, thanks Nutn. I just ordered a Cutlery Shoppe Exclusive Delica HAP-40 orange and black dappled camo to go with the Endura version. Still avail, so check them out. Really cool. I might post a photo of the matched Endura/Delica pair if I can figure out how to post pictures.

Since a lot of us are working on developing or finishing out LBE, it would be cool to see a “HOF LBE knives” video.

Funny intro! I'll have to play that for my wife. I don't have any Spydercos yet and that definitely won't be the first. I'm saving up for the Yojumbo!

J Ram

What that what!?? Thank you for the KRV, agree 100% pass for the price.

Brad Fegan

$200......Ouch, nice but not that nice.

Another ridiculously priced Spyderco is the H1 Jumpmaster 2 that I just picked up...but it is so light, badass, and voodoo with its H1 material that I'm replacing my beloved K-bar with it as my primary tactical blade/bugout/wrol/hiking/tactical hpac street blade...

Just added a honey badger large warncleaver blade and a medium drop point in d2 similar to the tnp knife to see if I can adapt to such a small blade. I normally carry a spyderco resiliance daily. With large hands the resiliance fits me perfectly. Wish i could get one in a better metal grade d2 or s30 or something better. A while ago i bought a few s30 kershaw blur knives. They are small for me but work ok as a day to day beater knife.

People accuse Spyderco people of being hipster douchebags...this blade is living proof that the stereotype is deserving...but I don't care...I still rock spyderco..

My 2 fave LBE blades are the Cold Steel Kobun and SRK. The Kobun is crazy thin and light while being a great fighting blade. The SRK is also great for fighting, a little heavier but also more versatile with it's clip blade, so it makes a good light woods blade as well.

SigCrash

I feel like a lot of Spyderco's Higher-end line is falling flat. Other manufacturers are coming out with better designs and materials at a lower price point produced in the same locations. Whether that be in the US, China, or otherwise. Spyderco needs to catch up to the market.

Nutn, is the secret knife the Amalgam? Every time I put mine in my pocket I think, dang this is a Nutnfancy knife.

Luke Stephens

Also they have a SRK “c” version now with a 5” blade like the street bowie/Fred Perrin one that Nutn likes Could be a contender

Emotional? Ya I'm not excited about spyderco much at all. I'm a $100 and below knife guy. Come on you're a genx not a boomer can figure picture posting.

Chopper

I’ve got to disagree with you on this one, Nutn. The Kapara is one of my favorite Spydercos. I love the blade shape, clip, action and the marbled carbon fiber. I do agree the price could be better. Spyderco has lost a lot of the value they once offered.

Dan

I love the Kapara. Pricey ... yes! Daily carry? No. Mostly second kind of cool for me. It gets limited use while RVing/camping. It is great for chopping and slicing while cooking.

Sheepdog

We all need to record a clip of the "you're safe, it's just entertainment" and put it on a "wife" play button. Sorta like the old Tetris computer game had a "boss" button that would instantly stop the game and display a meaningless spread sheet. :-)

Andrettski

That Yojimbo is on my list as well. Waiting for a deal on them.

Andrettski

Hopefully Spyderco doesn't pull a "Simon and Schuster Josh Hawley" on you for using your KRV freedom of speech and cancel your TNP/Sydee upcoming collaboration.

Raymond Kuhn

Try to get ahold of the Spyderco Tropen and/or Native Chief model, Nutn. Similar cost to this one but I think you'd really like both of those knives.

David Gaines

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Caleb Gips

The Chaparral is a great blade. I have the light weight version. Certainly not a hard use edc but for 95% of tasks it’s perfect and slicey as all get out. I’d love to see the review of that and the SOG. I don’t currently have any SOG blades in the collection...except my signed TNP field pup (flex😎)

Tacticaldoodle

I like the funky ones spydie releases, they may not all be super charming, but they're something different. When it misses, it misses fairly wide for me. but when it hits- It hits hard. To this day I've tried to find cheap old barongs to coat to little avail. If you dig 'em, grab them while they're in production! (Or two. Three? Seven, tops. Okay, twelve....just to be sure)

Spenser Weese

That intro LOL! Made my wife laugh from the living room! Thanks for the review on this blade. I'll stick with my Centofante.

TNSheep

yeah, that's pretty yawn for sure.

Christopher Grogan

I agree not for 200+ and the functionality isn’t up to par. Other then the great steel to me it seems like they left out all the stuff I personally love about there brand.

Big50

I LOVE my Kapara, but it’s all about POU. Tactical/camp/work knife? Nope. Nope. Nope. EDC for a white collar/office drone in slacks or a suit? 1000 x HELL YES!!! It’s a stylish full sized knife that’s still slim & light, doesn’t hog space, and won’t shred your pocket. Premium materials & superb fit & finish (though now that you mention it, I’m kinda bored with the Taichung machined satin too.). Price? Well unfortunately these days unless you’re buying from PRC, knives are stupid expensive. Doesn’t matter if it’s from USA, Japan, ROC, or etc. I have to draw a line somewhere, so no PRC knives for me. Lastly, the Stretch is an awesome knife and is super functional (& under rated), but it’s no where near the Kapara in materials & fit/finish...thus the price delta. The Chaparral is a GREAT knife and kind of a value IMO, but the Kapara is a step up in materials, f&f.

Greg Weber

I don’t think this will replace my Bob Lum Chinese folder.

PracticallyCorrect

I had the same reaction. Looked great on paper, bought it and got it in hand--meh. Sent it back.
