Inexpensive and pretty much awesome, Ontario Knives arises from the dead to give us a value titanium frame lock.  The Shikra!  It may surprise you with its details and quality for its low price. I'm keeping it.

Nice, two KRVs in one night!

Mike

Old Hickory?! Nice that is looking like a good food / camp blade. Keep that one in the pack for fancy camping dining in the middle of no where land!

J Ram

Able to get both KRVs in before taps!!! Sweet!! But keep the full features coming too sir, those things get me through my day.

steve garrett

Shikera, I know you said shitra at first lol

Connor Murphy

Wow, 2 KRVs tonight. That's what I like to call value. Thanks, Nutn.

I still love my Rat II's and Rat 1 those are for sure hof!

Love framelocks. Have not seen that steel in years. Its not horrible compared to 8crmov . But I have so many basic pocketknives i am trying to stick to d2 or s30v or m3 etc so i can get experience with better steels.. or at least different steels. As steel becomes more focused it loses the does everything and is easy to sharpen mode. Also when you have 60 or 100 dollars in a knife I start to worry I will use it and set it down or that I will worry about it instead of just using it as a tool.. Love les baer and ed brown.. but nothing like a police trade in g19 with road rash to just use it and stop worrying .

RowdyRon

I would definitely take that one over the Kapara. If there was a choice, Instead of the Shikra, I'd go with one of the RAT models. Glad they're still around. Thanks Nutn.

Some day I would love to see a good fixed blade knife shootout for a high value but good quality do it all knife .. 4 to 5 inch. I am truck shopping for a used truck to use as a daily driver and overland starting truck. Size and weight is critical. But I dont want 4 backups. I want one knife for cutting rope and opening packages and cooking and maybe removing a splinter . I want one good knife and I dont know where to start. No rush.. but it would be a new category of outdoor use. Overlanding is becoming very popular and weight and size is everything. You need everything to be needed and not added baggage. Its truck camping with portable cooking and living gear. So i am now super focused of what is needed and no more. Nutn.. not sure if what you allready do would be considered overlanding , but camping and gear testing seems like it is. Fewer people.. more nature .. beautiful outdoors ..time to think.. better mental health. Closer to god.

That Old Hickory is a steak knife! I'm liking frame locks less and less. Micarta scales are great, I prefer to see them on both sides.

Jeremy Toler

(Only a slightly unrelated question) Wondering if anyone has any experience or an opinion of Morakniv branded knives?

Luke Stephens

I have a couple of them. Use for backpacking and hunting mostly Nutn did a video on them awhile back and he has one in his recommended blades BladeHQ page. Just search for TNP or Nutnfancy https://youtu.be/chziEFB3Wos

Michael B warner

Nutn is your address in South Jordan UT still good for you? I'd like to send you a couple of my TNP blades.

Andrettski

I need an address/PO Box? as well Nutn. MORE tanks in the Bunker please.

Andrettski

This Shikra "Sheek-rah" ? is a nice looking knife. I need another knife in micarta but I'll wait for a deal around $30-35. Anything close to $50 and I'm lookin' more at Civivi, Artisan Cutlery or even QSP. Thanks for the 2fer KRV's NUTN.

Anthony Schaad

Got one on order. Love the classyness of the old hickory, might snag one for a hunting/field blade.

Plumber Angelo

I love the shikra! I got mine when it was released. Titanium and micarta for a sub $50 knife? SOLD! The tip is very delicate (lol) and perfect for an edc blade. Great review!

Phillip Robinette McKracken

I once tried to get an Ontario resellers franchise agreement, years back. Never panned out. I do really like my SP8-95. Don't plan to sharpen the back saw teeth until there is a WROL. Thanks for the review.

Ryan Barber

Have you looked into these new otf karambits? Totally a second cool thing, but man they get me excited. Haven’t bought one yet and would love to hear your take. Looking at raven crest tactical, and the raptor claw from megaknife .com.

Anthony Schaad

Mine is on the way... gonna be hard to switch out my fav edc of the Spyderco Manix 2 , but I’ll try lol. A knife brand my bro stumbled on and don’t know if you’d be interested in reviewing but their called Offgrid Knives, mid priced and just really good edc /working knives! Any TNP project is great , thx Nutn!

Christopher Davis

Yeah, I’d like to send my TNP Honey Badger to get signed but am not clear on how to get an address from Nutn ...

Steve Feeser

Thanks for reviewing affordable knives. I really like my Spyderco PM2. But I lost it for a few days once and was crushed by the thought of buying a replacement. I'll try to pick one of these up as a spare. Btw. You should review the Luger. Long time lust object of mine. Are they any good??
