You wouldn't think this thing would work but it does...and well. In this Nutnfancy Black Rifle Review (yes!) we consider the ATI Omni Hybrid Max. Now some other polymer ARs have come out prior to this Omni and they had mixed success.  I waited a bit to see if the tech improved...it did.

With many outings on this gun, we found the Omni Hybrid to be reliable, accurate enough, with great ergos. You will be surprised by some of the quality features put into this value AR too. And of course that it is super lightweight just adds to the attraction and its versatility.

I built a rifle for my wife using an Omni lower back in 2015. I used it as one of several carefully chosen components in an attempt to keep the weight down as much as possible. It has about a 1,500-1,750 round count, so it hasn't been abused or anything. However I can say that it's held up really well for what it is. Glad to see this review.

Tyler Van Zile

I appreciate the review (I appreciate everything you do), but I would never buy such a low end, off brand AR. There's budget and then there's crap. This is crap lol

NatvMan

I always wondered how well one of these would shoot. Thanks for the review. Keep up the good work Nutn!

Jbocajs .

From the title, my first thought was you got your hands on WWSD lower. Not disappointed though.

Schmuckatelli

Out of stock everywhere (except overpriced GunBroker) but I did email HandgunHaven to inquire about an out-of-state purchase.

Beck

I would be interested in seeing this reviewed aswell.

J Ram

@ 12:16-12:18.....That's what she said!!! Thanks for another great review Colonel.

Schmuckatelli

Had to go back to see what was said at that point in the video. I got a good chuckle out of that one.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks for the input! But remember when I reviewed this thing it was selling for just $450

James Young

I wonder how light it would be with a pencil barrel, low pro gas block, lightweight 10"- 12" rail, MFT Engage V2 grip, and Radian LT Charging Handle. Could drop the weight another 6-10 oz. Good video, interesting gun

Rick Grad

Maybe someone doesn’t have an AR, because they just joined the community...perfect person to get one of these and a case of ammo! Learn the platform, shoot that first 1,000 rounds and I bet buying that second rifle becomes more fun, enjoyable, meaningful. Great vid.

Buff Orpington

ATI makes good products. Their mil-spec AR (all aluminum, not plastic) AR was my first, and it never gave me a single issue. I put thousands of steel cased Ammo through that thing and ended up selling it to fund my own builds. And while I’m happy with my builds, I’ve regretted selling it ever since.

Jess Whitmore

I have one of these, and it runs great. I've shot mostly steel and it runs fairly reliably. I have had two stuck cases. Both times the gun was filthy and very hot. Never had any issues with brass.

Jerome J

did you keep it as a cast member?

Buff Orpington

I disagree! I’d buy a cheaper AR as a loaner gun. I train people to shoot as a side gig, and they do all kinds of stupid shit to rifles. I have a few $450 price point platforms that are incredibly useful to give to people for basic training. These ATI’s aren’t some precision platform, but they’ll run. And if some newbie does something stupid to it, it doesn’t terribly mess up my budget.

David Gaines

When can we get the LCP 22lr review?!

Aquanaut

How sturdy is the threaded portion of the upper where the barrel nut threads on?

Trevor K

i had a gen 2. was one of the best ARs i ever owned

The Nutnfancy Project

Copy that. If you buy it I will review it! Drop me a line in the Patreon inbox if you do. You could just ship the completed lower to me, I'll drop in an upper. Gunnies could take the transfer. I will contemplate buying for review too but I'm trying to thin down the inventory!

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks Natv! It's a good gun and I actually used this as my SUV AR15 during the riots, no joke.

The Nutnfancy Project

I mightl sell this one to you. I have another buyer lined up and if he drops you can get it, I am selling stuff to pair things down here!

The Nutnfancy Project

Great idea and it would indeed make it lighter. But more $ to add the stuff! You might be able to see 4.5 lbs with it.

The Nutnfancy Project

Great input Yams, I agree with your take. Our ATI stuff has been really good. The 9mm Milsport is still rocking with us 100%, very accurate and fun too.

Austin Cobb

Nutn, this is a great video! This review makes me want to watch you review the WWSD KE Arms rifle at Brownells. Basically a premium version of this.

jeeapaholic95

Definitely would love to see a build using the KE Arms wwsd lower as well absolutely love mine.

Donald Weber

The upper and lower have zinc reinforcement, not steel. I have an ATI hybrid lower on my dedicated 22lr AR. Works okay. Nothing special, nothing bad.

Lynn E Fite, Col (r)

Had to send my Omni back for gas block repair: 100% reliable when promptly returned. When we run and repair fence the Omni rides in the Mule with a Vortex cantilever mount and Nikon scope, The sidearm my foreman and I carry is the XT22. JSOG6

The Nutnfancy Project

Very soon, I will edit it tomorrow. Spoiler: it jammed a lot on us. I would not buy one.

The Nutnfancy Project

Not sure didn't take it apart. But a forged alum upper would probably be stronger. Omni has steel inserts in that poly area.

David Gaines

Dang. I had such high hopes. Glad I waited to hear your experience. Still looking forward to watching the review.

Andrettski

I've seen two of these at ranges and both had massive failures, repeatedly. I've also seen vids where they were developing cracks near the rear takedown pin and grip. So perhaps there are ok ones out there along with some real crappy ones as well. NOTTA from me.

Andrettski

holy hell, look at the daylight between the upper and lower right after the 3:50 mark in the vid.

RFischboss

An AR10 version would be interesting, just to get the weight down even closer to a standard AR15. Also would love to hear you thoughts on the change in pistol grip angles. Just bought a K-2+ for my M&P 15 Sport 2, haven't ran it yet, but it seems to be a new trend to go more vertical.

Patrick Brichta

Great review! Thanks Nutn! Have you looked into reviewing any of the poly 80% lowers for pistols or rifles? I hear Joe and the Ho don't like them and want to ban them...

Mike Maddox

Great review as always. Throw on some mbus sights and value priced red dot, sling. Now it would be good for a kid, adult female or a loaner and even a stash rifle in a vehicle or in a spot in the house or on your property.

HairyPost

Totally agree with you nutn on the leaving YouTube!!We all need to transition to other platforms!!

Hold Fast Joe

Just caught up with this. Interesting! I wonder though for the same price could you build out an 80% with parts kit from psa? I'm gonna crunch few numbers and see

Hold Fast Joe

Ok last post I tried to respond hit a filter. Patreon doesn't like what I have to say lol

Hold Fast Joe

Righttobear has 80 lower with lower build kit for 170 combined. Then psa complete upper for 330. $500 to your door? Nice

Hold Fast Joe

The review on the ati was really unique and interesting! If you already have a dozen in storage, meh, why not? Lol

The Nutnfancy Project

Great use for the gun and thanks letting us know. I like your XT22 choice also Col.

The Nutnfancy Project

Manual does state it is steel reinforced! Good to know your .22 LR versions been adequate.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

It would be nice to have a watermark showing when this was filmed, particularly the field work, versus edited and posted... “during the pandemic” just means some time in 2020, 2021, maybe 2022 if Dr. F. Has any say.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

If i am gonna watch a video once, where should i do it to help you most? YouTube, Patreon, UgeTube?

david rockwell

Our local gun store sold multiple pallets of Omni Hybrids for $379.99 during a July 4th sale (2019). The field review certainly confirms what many purchasers that day found out. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.

Craig

Any Chance on getting a competitor KE Arms KP-15 lower or a complete WWSD 2020 rifle from Brownells to compare it to?
