While the overall toy market has degenerated into a floating garbage hulk of cheesy, poorly made, ephemeral trash, there can still be a surprise or two.  Turns out one of the coolest vehicles in the Star Wars Original Trilogy was put into the impressive, super detailed, 1/12 scale Snowspeeder.  For your coffee tables' sake, hope they don't make an enemy walker to go  up against it! -TD

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHH BOi. Glad they finally did something cool. I'm sure from now on they'll only do the crappy new designs though. :/

Todd Strelka

We had one of those but it was broken so we threw it in the trash. My nephew gave it to my boys years ago.

david rockwell

G.O.A.T. review! Awesome overview and insights. It is unfortunate Politically Correct paradigm (i.e. Leftist socialism indoctrination) killed a great mythos. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.

Christopher Davis

Cool review, guys! Star Wars has hands-down some of the best vehicle designs of any film franchise (I’m referring mainly to the OT). It’s amazing how well designs like the snow speeder, X-wing, Millennium Falcon, and Star Destroyer (to name a few) have aged, and are just as cool today as they were in the 70s and 80s! Too bad Star Wars is a shadow of its former self now ...

Trevor K

I have built the model kit. It rules if you want it to be 100% accurate. I had a few of the figures growing up but nun of the big vehicles. I used to watch the original movies with my sister all the time. we had them on VHS.

Schmuckatelli

AMAZING!!! Thank you for this awesome TRV. I was a HUGE Star Wars fanatic as a kid (still am). I went to see the original 1977 release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope at the theater. My little brother and I had a sizeable SW figure collection and we also had Luke's Landspeeder and an X-Wing fighter. I always wanted the TIE-Fighter so that we could stage dog fights. Thanks for letting me geek out on these awesome Snowspeeders. (PS Thanks for moving Sam out of frame. She can be a little distracting.)

Courtney M

Could have waited a day and said you're changing your format to toy reviews only.

Cheesewell

My great uncle Buck used to take me and my brothers to toy shows when I was a kid, I think they still do these shows, not sure. Buck, who's still alive today, has a huge Lionel train collection and tracks all set up, moral of the story, toys are awesome no matter what age you may be.

Schmuckatelli

Missed opportunity...but who knows what's in store for tomorrow.

Clint Raby

Love the toy review! I grew up with this stuff, the first time I saw Star Wars was at the drive in theater at age six way back in 1977. Named my son Lukas after Luke. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

clay

This might be my favorite video of yours.

Joshua Wilson

I had one of those back in the early 80’s, it saw a great many battles in my bedroom, and in the backyard. But my Millennium Falcon was a few notches cooler 😎.

David Threadgold

Your right about bad toys but I work for Mattel as a illustrator for all the Hot Wheels boxes keeps me paying bills but they did make some collector stuff for Star Wars. I have some but I actually did all the illustrations for Star Wars two years ago and they were fun to do but sometimes the toy was boring that’s why they hire me to spice up the look

Metal-Militia

Oh yes 👍I still have my 1995 Electronic Sound X-Wing. Mint Condition👍👌🏼👏

Schmuckatelli

DUDE! That Millenium Falcon was GINORMOUS!!! I had a friend at grammar school who had one and I would go to his house and bring my SW figures over. I know...big time nerd, but it was fun!

The Nutnfancy Project

Great insight to the kit Trevor. I haven't done one yet...maybe when and if I retire! VHS is what we had too

The Nutnfancy Project

Sam is very distracting and you're welcome. You are in good company here with original SW toys S. I always feel like you're my clone btw.

The Nutnfancy Project

We will do more if the response is good on main Channel. You guys here are elite and I get awesome response here. But then again maybe I'll just do more for you guys! I got a lot to say on toys too...this is just a primer.

The Nutnfancy Project

Very impressive David T! I will pass that along to LastSuspect, an artist of growning reknown

Racing Psychosis

Yea....that stuff shows the difference between TD's generation and mine, when little green army men were the best that we had as kids. And I was lucky enough to have a massive collection of revolutionary war and civil war 1/72 scale plastic army men. Built my own ships, built my forts out of Lincoln logs and glued together tooth picks and cardboard stock.

Brad Fegan

LOL, I love it. .......I so thought you were going to do it like a regular KRV or GRV review. Like Philosophy of use and competitive options ( Empire aircrafts ) that would of been hilarious.

Tacticaldoodle

Those 1/72 dudes are fantastic, I didn't even think of painting them up until I was a teenager. I was super, fantastically lucky for sure. Kids now get to have toy gun buybacks and fully integrated girl/boy toy aisles.

Racing Psychosis

Yes they were. I too later found out about painting them and 25mm. Didn't even know back then about the actual tabletop wargaming scene.

Patrick Richards

Original star wars is so much better than modern production. I miss the good ole days

Mike S

If you guys are big fans of the old Star Wars toys of that era, did you guys ever read the X-Wing Comics or Novels? Those seem to be right up your alley. Not sure if you guys played video games growing up, but there were a bunch of combat flight sim Star Wars games like the Xwing and Rogue Squadron series.

Tacticaldoodle

Yeah, like a lot of things they've become an industry unto themselves. We used to go hunting for the out of production star wars stuff back when that was just interesting and cool, now it's all collectible. Playability has nearly disappeared in favor of detail and articulation. I do prefer it, but it demands a lot of care and precision from the kids when they play with it unless you want a bunch of busted stuff.

Tacticaldoodle

Suspect is the better modeler between us, but we still haven't gone to the point of getting an airbrushing booth, spray cans only like chumps still. It's a true bummer they got rid of the MSIA line, I used to grab all those I could from target when they were around. Great mix of accuracy, articulation, and playability. The fix figuration are cool for the first couple years but that PVC crap shears off in the joints pretty easy.

Tacticaldoodle

They had that nearly accurately scaled one a while back, guess that's impossible to find now. For a while they were on clearance because no one had the space for them. Now just like the GIjoe aircraft carrier, it's a chaser trophy.

Tacticaldoodle

Dude Hot Wheels totally came around! Every time I go there I find a couple I wanna get. They finally quit doing fantasty stuff like horsecarts and toilets and went into real cars. Seeing a Porsche 944, a honda CRX, and a WRX is awesome now. I've got a wall that's just a display for all the cool ones I've seen over the years. Keep up the good work!

Robert Harper

As a kid I got the full size AT-AT, move able legs and head, so cool. I still have it, but missing the door and hood

Tacticaldoodle

For a while I remember NF getting a little weirded out that I kept playing the empire in my setups, I loved playing that Tie fighter flight sim and it's cool enforcing order in a mess of a galaxy.

David Threadgold

if you want check out community post I put up illustration for you and your buddy he can always call me. do you like Mario Kart I did really big set for the last year a whole series of toys let me know and I can show you but I don't know how to send just you the images I will try and look into that. remember I am an artist and we are bad at multi tasking

J Ram

Same, I had the original 3.5" action figures, the X-Wing and Land Speeder.....with where the saber wielding figures (Luke, Obi Wan, Vader) had the light saber as an adjustable insert in their arms. Man I miss my toys!

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

What a fun-to-watch video, thanks for sharing. I read some of the comments early in the video and was expecting to see some hot-wheels... maybe consider them for a review. Especially comparing old and new.

James Lawson

Cool video!! I had the original 1980 edition!! Wish I still had it!!

George H Vickers

I still have my 1 and 144th scale Bachmann mini plane collection. I specialized in World War II aircraft all of them are in mint condition except I did paint some of them two more authentic colors and came patterns. And I bought all the pilots biographies I could get a hold of and I still have most of them. Then about 1970 I started collecting roco minitanks and still have them, the coolest toys ever made. None of these have been made for decades although I can still find them on the Internet but not for $0.79 anymore.

Daniel Herb

Thats so cool! I love Star Wars, the original trilogy has been a huge part of my life and its a love I passed on to my kids. Its so awesome to see that passion and love in the project as well. Thanks guys

Cred Zero

My little nephew inherited my Micro Machine Snow Speeder, which miraculously survived a flood that buried a lot our old family 80's era holdovers - the wear and tear of the years on the paint make it look amazing. It is one of the coolest vehicle designs in Sci Fi - I always thought the angling of the Speeder's fuselage looks F117ish.

David Threadgold

My older brother made me burn all my green army guys told me it was more realistic lol. I think he was just jealous I had so much fun

Tacticaldoodle

I think we have a few for display. Pretty funny how all they needed to do was dust off some sculpts, add more paint, and call it a wargaming piece for a 5x markup! (Still, I really wanna grab that TIE defender) I saw the action fleet version once and didn't have the allowance for it, dang.

Tacticaldoodle

NF bought one for me from a comic shop, it was missing all of that. He made replacements for it all to look more angular and armored. I think there are replacement parts out there, too. It's a fun display piece!

Bluegill097

Ok I’ll admit to being a Star Wars nerd. Loved this video

Beck

Lego Star Wars and nerf guns are what I enjoyed most as a kid.

Matt

That'd be a great collectors item if not for the $120 price tag. It'll never gain enough value to make it worth it to me.

Foghorn

I bought the original R2-D2 and C-Three P0 the day my Mom took me to see the StarWars.. Summer 77. I got them and the Land Speeder.. That was it for a while. I had several of the figures but never many of the larger ships. Couldn't afford them so I actually made most of my own... Only think they really didn't do well with was the "Blow Up" light sabre... the sukd..

Phake A'Count

I saw Star Wars when I was 9 in 1977. It included some scenes that were deleted from later showings. There was a scene with Luke, Biggs, and Wedge on Tatooine. And in the original film, Luke missed once with the grappling hook in the chasm scene. And he missed on his first run on the Death Star. Presumably, Lucas cut those scenes for pacing. I didn't have a lot of Star Wars toys, but I did have a snow speeder. I thought it was pretty cool. It was better than an X-wing because it had a back seat, a harpoon, and cannons that lit up. I built a TIE fighter out of discarded card board boxes. I used my mother's Mary Kay boxes creating the world's only pink TIE fighter. Also made a cardboard Viper from Battlestar and a fleet of ships inspired by the Japanese cartoon Star Blazers.

So happy to see this! Keep em coming
