We love Bowies here. They are fun and invoke a sense of history which we talk about here.  They are also menacing and capable weapons, historically proven.  We like that too. Three will be covered here with TD in attendance: CS Old West Bowie (discontinued), Condor Undertaker, and the Bear & Sons Gold Rush Bowie.

All 3 represent high value pricing...if you can find them. Each has a hollow ground large blade with traditional Bowie guards, handles, sheaths, and blade shapes. Each has its own personality.  Don't expect these to be good woods blades: they don't have the weight. I'll talk about this and show you infield testing in the remote desert (KTM 690 trip). We'll review some of the gruesome history of these blades. And you know what: that's what attracts guys to them. These historical Bowies invoke that sense of awe that knife collectors just like.

Filmed last year, the CS Old West Bowie was available then, now not so much. But they had been mentioned in other KRVs so that was the time to buy! A cool competitive option emerges at the end.

Use the links below while they last:

Me

Now I'm broke again ! Thanks!

Jonathan-James

Bowie knives are my first love from as far back as I can recall. And Crocodile Dundee showed us how to edc the bowie knife.

Keanu Alfaro

A bowie is a must have in every collection! Thanks for giving us some great options.

Blake Townsend

Have to get me one, Nutn love the Tops Pasayten by the way! Blade is awesome.

clinodev

One of these days!

Micahbraedon

I have Bowie knives and Kukri's in my amazon wish list for collecting and passing down to my son. He is only eight months old now, but I hope he will enjoy some of the same interests eventually. He already has a watch and a couple rifles. Love the big iron reviews.

Matt W Plank

Just got the Bear and Sons Bowie from Amazon. It was $90 bucks, but used some points and got it shipped out the door total $57 bucks. USA made, unreal value!

Jack Farmer

You had me at Marty Robins

Anthony Schaad

Awesome knives I want them all lol. I’ve been testing out the OKC Marine Raider Bowie via ur review , it’s got some heft to it and soo far it’s been a good chopper. I’m kinda getting ready to test another blade , a cold steel SRK n have to admit by first impressions it seems solid! As always thanks Nutn for the project !!

Hugh Amlett

Very cool knives. Check out the Big Iron remake by Johnny Cash, also great.

The Nutnfancy Project

Tops Pasayten: One of my all time favorite fixed blades it is. Beautiful and functional at once.

The Nutnfancy Project

I hope he appreciates that hand me down. Blades, guns, watches are special connections to past generations. "Love the big iron reviews." Glad to hear that!

Matt W Plank

I love it, razor sharp out of box, 2nd cool old west, and American made! Score!!

Jayson Fraser

Super cool knives. I'm going to have to add them to my wish list. I've always wanted a big old bowie for second cool reasons. Maybe I prioritize first cool too often 😄

Tygre

The GREAT Marty Robbins! Now we need a movie review of Alan Ladd in "The Iron Mistress."

Tacticaldoodle

It's funny how popular that song seems to be getting these days. I hear it all the time from younger kids, that fallout OST is real popular.

Bluegill097

Cool review! I bought a $20 “Chinese special” hunk of junk to have on my old west gun belt…. Guess I should upgrade

Sheepdog

Just something about a big honking slab of steel for a knife. It feels right.

Josh

Cool

rediius

It also pops up a lot thanks to Mandalorian fan videos.

"That's not a knooif.......... this is a knooif!!"--

RowdyRon

Great collection. Hard to pick a winner there. Now I need to look at Bowie's! Thanks Nutn.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

I saw it as a kid at one of the giant screen drive-ins in Abilene, Texas. I wasn't quite born yet when it came out in '52.

Tygre

I had that same experience with some of my students last year; they knew it from Fallout: New Vegas. Now they are Marty fans, listening to the whole album.

Tygre

I have loved that movie since about age 10. :)

Patrick Brichta

Sweet knives, I still like my modern bowie, I love the cold steel tail master!

Steve Ouellette

On page 215 of The Canadians my grandfather checks out in style. I first found your channel when I bought a BK 9 in 2009. Not this kind of Bowie. I would like to have the coffin handled Windless or one of their Sheffield knock offs. I put an elk horn handle on a California Windless blank and gave it to a friend-nice

William H

Great video. On the legal angle, purely based on my own non-systematic historical reading, I’d venture to say self-defense homicide cases were more likely to go to trial, but jury’s were less likely to simply rubber stamp the prosecution’s case. In modern times a good DA Office wouldn’t try that case, but if they did, they’d probably win!

Chris Marchi

Sweet blades. I like them all!

Daniel Herb

TD just has his fav and wouldn't change it haha. He knows what he likes at least.

Tacticaldoodle

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if I'm just stuck in the past, but I do get attached to things that have a strong character to them. So much formulaic crap these days!
