FN’s slogan is “The World’s Most Battle Proven Firearms” and it delivers on this with its military contracts.  It also calls its pistols “RELIABLE–ANYTIME–ANYWHERE.”  Adding on to my 2017 review of the regular FNS9, we consider this long slide version. Yes I know, it's been discontinued by FN and their focus is on the 509 now. But you can find these still around and as such it merits a review. Along the way I'll show you the Dornier 335 and consider its interesting history and technology.

Several beloved competitive options come out because, as you know, I remain a big fan of the long slide format (https://youtu.be/1c_A9NmqjEw).  Another fun GRV with lots of systems philosophy again!

FNS9 Long Slide: Remembering Its Best Form

Long slides, long noses, and long-windedness … Dude, that’s awesome. I got a good chuckle out of that one. Happy Fourth, Nutn, and keep those long-winded reviews coming!

Kelly McClellan

I’ve tried to consolidate my collection. Nearly all my pistols are glocks now. The only exception is the p365. I can’t get myself to part with it. Even though I won’t buy this gun I love a Nutnfancy GRV. My Burris fast fire should be here for my Glock 40 on Wednesday.

Aaron Knesal

I'm a total nerd for FN's so of course I love this video... That said, I was hoping you were trolling us and the FN 509 LS EDGE was going to make a surprise appearance! Yes, I have one. Also yes, I love it. Happy Independence Day TNP Nation!

Scott Reichard

To all members of this nutnfancy family. Happy 4th to you. God bless our country and the people that fight to protect it and our rights and constitution. I am worried for the future of our country with democrats trying to destroy our freedoms and give away access to illegals. To destroy our american values and respect for familys and our wonderful children. The beauty of men and women coming together and making a home for themselves and acting in a way to promote love and respect and values.

Pedro

Even if being a all glock household, like you the 365 would stay. A true game changer that gun is.

Kelly McClellan

Agreed. It really is an exceptional carry gun.

My pick for long barreled toilet paper guardian pistol: Ruger Blackhawk Convertible 9 mm / .357 magnum with the 5.5" barrel. Just because your behind is picky doesn't mean your handgun needs to be.

Joshua Wilson

Best POU EVER! Toilet paper defense 🤣. New acronym, TPD.

David Elkins

Happy Independence Day! God bless America, and God bless TNP.

Nicolas Royston

Can't stand having the nails long either. Traps dirt and bacteria. And they just get in the way in any type of manual labor.

Racing Psychosis

At first I must say, I thought oh dang this is at least going to be a cool little insight on a neat plane and history of it, as I'm not much into FN handguns. But yea it looks like kind of a cool piece. Then you reminded me why I dislike them, with the that ambi mag release which I bleepin' can't stand along with those articulated triggers that this has and S&W has. And why the hell does a striker fire need a breakin, heck even freakin' Taurus can get a striker fire right without a breakin. Good fun review though...Loved the plane history lesson.

Jerry Hall

I own the M&P 2.0 5" (mm. I love the pistol - very accurate & fun to shoot. Very little muzzle flip and rapid follow up shots. GREAT REVIEW NUTNFANCY!!!

Racing Psychosis

Oh and right now I have grease, chain lube, and castor under my nails from kart maintenance.

Trustful Marksman

I picked up one of those Ruger 57s. I put on a peep aperture from tandemcross that replaces the rear notch insert without any mods. So far I've put a couple hundred rounds downrange and it's quick to aquire sight picture and allows an open picture but if you don't really center that front sight your groups

Trustful Marksman

groups. Will really open up. What do you all think of peep sights on handguns?

Cyborg009

If 5” is the standard then a Beretta 92/M9 is the next best thing. I have an extended 6” replacement barrel that I will get ported someday.

Tacticaldoodle

That's awesome! Someday I wanna get into printing, I just keep feeling like the second we get a printer then the next gen comes out and blows it out of the water!

weston wilson

long live the FNS! i love my 40 dont have the longs slide wish i did but im fine with the FNS-40. I wish FN didnt drop them.

Tacticaldoodle

It's kinda funny that for all the popular stuff FN puts out, their pistols are dang near invisible. Sure, that beefy baby poop 45 is someone popular, but you never see anything for the rest! They've remade them a few times now, to the point I can't keep any of the separate. Kinda fun to think they haven't even done a ver. 2 of the scar. I wonder how that would look?

Mike R

Honestly TD just go ahead and get a Ender 3 V2 they’re under $300 or heck you could get a base model Ender 3 for under $200. Though I think the extra features on the V2 are worth the money especially when you’re first starting out. It a good machine to learn on and you won’t be out a ton of money. Plus as soon as you start printing you wish you had a 2nd printer to print more things on faster. So when that next generation comes out like you talking about you still will be buying one anyways and so will the rest of us that already have one or two.

Schmuckatelli

My favorite part of the video was the guided tour of the Nutnfancy Aviation Museum. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a TNP GRV, but when you get more information than a History Channel special in the intro of your GRV, you have to give props.

George H Vickers

Good video as always, one thing though I believe the .190d had an in-line engine that was made to look like a radial.

Pedro

For me I’ve overlooked them because of price to value ratio. They never seemed to offer much over the competition for the big premium they charge. The Fn pistols I fired didn’t seem any better then Walter or glock.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks. That dornier 335 is really a cool plane, fun to roll it into the review. FNS didn't survive either!

The Nutnfancy Project

I generally hate peep sights on handguns. For the accuracy reason you note: really hard to get accurate with them. They are novelties much like the big U sights we've seen here. Standard sights work great and are fast enough for me. For longer distance, as discussed in Glcok 40 review, I will go with a red dot.

Bluegill097

Canik is my long-slide, red dot, hole puncher. Just decided to mix it up since I am bored with my Glock perfection lol

Jardine

I love the long slide hand guns. They're so nice to shoot.

I sold my FNX-40 a while back. I didn't like the grip texture, it's a little too aggressive if you're not wearing gloves. The slide release is too small and close to the frame to use effectively. I also wasn't a fan of the trigger. So, sold for $450 no regrets.

John Unterkofler

Mr. Nutnfancy. In your opinion, what was the greatest fighter aircraft of WW2?

Scott Reichard

On paper I would love any long slide. But i have only owned a springfield 1911 / 45acp longslide and it shot great but the balance was not to my liking. I teach handgun skills / basic nra course with most safety focus. And my students never liked the longslide. I teach mostly women which i love because they dont consider watching die hard 6 times part of the course. So now even the g17 and my sig 220's and 5 inch 1911's seem as full size as I want. Prefer my 4.25 inch scandium s&w 1911 in 45.

Michael McAtee

My wife claimed my Glock 34. I think this time I’ll get a 17 or a 19

Aaron

There’s a 335 at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center located at Dulles. It’s more impressive in person😉

Daniel Herb

I still need that PPQ LS version!

Andrettski

Good thing the Germans didn't get those 335's in the air a few years earlier, would have created a lot of havok and extend the length of WWII. That plane just looks stable. German engineering for sure.

Andrettski

I really need to put more rounds through my Ruger 57 but man that cartridge is just stupidly expensive. I hate the trigger so I need to remedy that. I did put a Vortex Venom on it and cycled all 20 rounds but haven't shot it since.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

Since my god-father was a waist gunner in B-17’s and flew 30 missions over Germany from Nov 44 to May 45, i do not feel bad about the Nazi bastards not having the parts to field their high speed, high altitude interceptors.

Tim Bone

Good choice. Awesome 5" pistol! Picked one up after I rented one.

Cheesewell

Yo!!! That ATV shooting looks fun as hell! Sick video, I have a soft spot for long slide pistols, just something about them, like big old cars "boats". Brah!? Why did they quit making the FNP, that was the first video I found of yours, back in like 2010 or 2009, first pistol I ever bought. Two tone, 9mm, will never get rid of that gun. Been a Gun Toting Freak ever since.
