We take it to the Bunker again to check out the most expensive AR yet reviewed (I think): the Colbat Kinetics. This will be a fun one as we get into an interesting POU look on this high end rifle.  We'll bounce against some interesting options to include JP. Another not to be missed fun GRV.

Worth $4200?! Cobalt Kinetics AR15

Will be watching shortly. Looking forward to this one.

Tacticaldoodle

It's kinda funny how all these came out of the woodwork once the AR market really cooked. Just the idea that there're enough guys bored of mainstream $2k rifles that they need something more bespoke is funny to me.

Jardine

Totally looked like a nerf gun when it came out of the bag.

Lon N

She would have to be able to cook a gourmet breakfast too... just saying.

Ashanti Ali

I have POFs. But it’s a 308 piston driven AR pistol that weights less than an 9mm MP5. That by itself makes it work the pricetag. But over $4k for a rifle that doesn’t even come with a collapsible buttstock?

David Gaines

When can we get the Diamondback DB15 review?! I bought one after the awesome performance of the TNP recommended Diamondback DB10 in .308 and think it’s a super excellent lower price point gun that has flown under the radar. Purchased the OD green and as beautiful as it is, it shoots even better. Stock was a little heavy so that was the only upgraded it really needed.

Jerry Hall

Wow! I can see going to the bank for a loan for a $4K AR. 😁

David and Elizabeth

Thanks, Nutn for not obtaining guns for review directly from the manufacturers. You have to imagine T&E guns get special love before they're sent out. The performance and reliability are likely not indicative of what the average consumer can expect off the rack.

Nathan P Hubsch

It's a competition made rifle, so for that POU, yeah, it's worth the money. For an average guy, hell no it's not worth it. Cool rifle, but I'll never buy one.

Lee Harrell [W5GCF]

I can afford this but I ain't buying one. No way, no how. I believe you can get to a point of diminishing returns and this one is about $2,200 beyond that point. I can deploy $4,200 on much cooler and higher quality things than an AR. In Texas, if someone showed up to the range with this rifle, we'd refer to them as "Big hat, no cattle."

Lon N

After watching, $4200 in parts would fund one heck of a home-build...or two.

Kenny Bridges

Good review as always. I just can’t seem to fathom paying that much for an AR. Granted I’m not running and gunning in the streets of Iraq or anything but I feel like most “value” ARs in today world could get the same job done. I would go to war with my trust MP sport AR without hesitation. The accuracy and reliability is there at the 600-800 price point, what more do people want? Possibly parts breakage is significantly reduced in such an expensive AR? I could understand it more if an expensive AR was used for competition where the smallest increments could be a win or a loss but for general purpose and use? Do you really need a 0.25moa gun versus a 0.50moa gun? I just can't wrap my head around it. People just have more money than they know what to do with I guess.

Trevor

Finally found a good use for that magazine huh Nutn? :)

Shawn Kuse

This is a high end competition rifle. It better shoot as good as that price tag! I am in the process of looking into buying my first AR by buying good lower then add a good upper to it.

Aaron Martin

Dig the stock for sure, I'd be more into it with a longer barrel though.

Adam Dunkerley

I get the sense buyers are moving past mil spec. Frankly the competition world has been driving most of the innovation in the AR-15 space for awhile now.

watchman5

Why?! I don't understand...I'm too poor to understand the justification for an AR-15. I guess I'm a simpleton...

J Ram

So for that price does it come with bullet trajectory adjustment, where I fire and it automatically adjusts the projectile as it comes down the barrel to hit the "X" ring? lol Cool rifle, but waaaaay out of my price range and POU. Great review as always Colonel.

Jonathan-James

Yes! A twofur, Ar platform and the bunker!

Dom

No AR is worth that much

Harold Galen McPheron

Wish I had that kind of money, right now I'm looking for ammo and primers...

Tim Card

You certainly are willing to review everything.

Scott Reichard

I would easily spend that on a collectable 03 springfield or garand .. in fact I have. But not being in a battle situation I will stick to a 2200 sig 308 ar or a S&W 800 dollar 5.56 or 1800 M&P 10 308 ar..

Scott Reichard

It just seems to me that a rifle that expensive has an exact use or demand. I just prefer having more ar's that are just average quality that I have no problem shooting in hard use.

Hold Fast Joe

Very cool looking! Klingon for sure! Far as alternatives i love that JP has a crazy long barrel heat sink. I think it would be a hot item if JP would sell a heat sink with a light weight front shroud people could easily bolt on themselves. Anyway that kinetics looks awesome but no way 4 grand. I got 2 kids to feed! Lol

Josh

Thanks nutn

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

my first AR 15 was a Diamondback DB15CCB. Great gun, I did end up selling it to fund my "greatest AR15 build" from nutns AR15 build video, but the DB15 is a solid rifle.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

It looks cool, but I think we can build them from parts for cheaper as good or better. If you are a competition shooter sure, but for the average AR15 owner way too much money.

David Elkins

Gonna catch this tomorrow…but unless that AR shoots lasers it’s way overpriced.

Tacticaldoodle

Not everyone's dollar is worth the same to them. In firearms you see it a ton, where some guys may feel like $2300 comes a lot easier than an hourly guy. I used to know a guy who spent at least $120/day eating out, getting snacks, etc. When someone would point out how much money it ate up, he was confused, as if he never even realized it was strange.

Tacticaldoodle

Yeah, once you have all your normal bases covered, it becomes an efford in defining new, must-have niches to cover in your armory.

Andrew Mullins

There's some strange rifles out there.

Joe Shotgunner

I don't think I'd ever be interested enough to spend full retail on one of these, but I'd be a player at the price HH has on it 🤷‍♂️

Joe Shotgunner

Definitely has a lot of cool features

Bird Law

I’m super happy with my Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport 2. Costs about $1100 after magpul furniture and a dot.

Jeremy doblinger

That thing is sweet but dang brother I build and run 600$ rifles and shoot em as much as possible.. I can tell at the start of this video is Nutn wouldn't buy it either!

Jeremy doblinger

That thing is a star trek blaster for sure!!

Andrew Baldwin

Unless it's the AR that shot Bin Laden in the face, I'll save the $ for the other cool things your reviews keep making me want.

Schmuckatelli

I would never fault anyone for owning this rifle, but a Cobalt Kinetics AR will most likely never see the inside of my gun safe. If I had $4200 burning a hole in my pocket that just had to be spent on firearms, I would probably get 6-8 guns with that money.

RowdyRon

Interesting review. Never heard of them. I was drooling at your POF. Any chance you'd ever see a Krebs Custom, or a Rifle Dynamics for review? That would be huge! Hope you get a break soon. Thanks Nutn.

The Nutnfancy Project

If I can get one on loan for sure I'll review it. They are hard to come by though and I ain't buying one. I think they're very good but $$ from what I know.

Christopher B.

Renegade all day... the CK's mag release on an empty chamber is a deal breaker. It would take a long time to get used to that. I wouldn't even want to get used to it. Nutn, where did you get the kydex sheath for that Benchmade? Can you direct us to a custom kydex company you recommend? I remember the old Red Hill Kydex from years ago, but they're long gone and you haven't mentioned anybody else, as far as I know.

Jeff

Is there a build list out there or in the future for a quality lightweight AR build? I would love to see something like the NAILER (i know the acronym is wrong) but for a dedicated lightweight 5.56 build. I love my old school quad rail DD, but I put her on a scale the other day and, um, lets not talk about that. Not sure what other people would want, but I would think between $1K and $2K for the rifle.

Mitch Schutter

The hilarious part is their .308/6.5 model is under $4k

Rafael Rodriguez

I saw the price on the thumbnail and thought this was going to be a Hella rant video. You were way more nice to this gun than I expected. Lol. Great video. Thank you for pumping out these vids even with the high ammo prices. We appreciate it.

Kenny VanCleave

If I'm buying an AR for 4 grand it better do more than your average rifle. Like do the laundry and cook dinner. Because once my wife finds out I spent $4000 on a toy, that's her words not mine. I'll be looking for a new wife.

Anthony Schaad

Cool review Nutn… yea definitely an intriguing looking rifle but I totally got better stuff to dump my money in . Just put together an Aero Prec at pistol ( complete upper/lower) and i dont know if it was even more than a quarter of that price lol

JFire

Sweet rifle but in all reality, to get one of those would be like a modern day Christmas Story wish.

Mike S

It looks like a nice rifle... but unfortunately, most of us don't have 4200 we can throw around willy-nilly on gear like this. Still a fun review, though!

Stan White

My wife said I couldn't buy a 1k AR. So over the following year or so of buying one component at a time I ended up with a 5k AR build including the optic, light and irons. I love it, use it and abuse it. No regrets. And my wife learned a lesson lol.

Stan White

But no buy a less expensive ar and spend the rest on ammo

Clcare556

Spend money on ammo, preps, and getting the rest of your systems squared away. Unless you are 100% prepared then go ahead and buy it.

Johnny Motorcycle

For that amount I'd be buying a dirt bike to adventure on.

Gilberto Esquivel

I built me a Aero P lower with PSA upper (Non Free Floated) for under 600 bucks!...and that's out here in California with our communist surcharges and taxes and shiiiet....I can hit anywhere from 2-3 MOA and ring steel Easy out to 3-5 hunnit with my Primary Arms Chi-Com 1-6 power Variable! $4200 Clams?? What the Muther F??! If I had a choice between my Marine Corps Circa 1990-1994 Colt M16A2 Gulf War/Somalia Model or My build??? I'd go to war with my build...I only wish I had a lightweight optic w/ ACSS Reticle and 16 inch barrel like mine when I had to go from rubble to rubble of bombed out and depleted buildings looking for skinnies hopped up on Khat rocking Ak's in the Mog...We're freaking spoiled here in California as far as weaponry...You guys in the Free States are even better off! Advice: Build your own Rifle and invest the rest on Ammo... and Train Son!!

Blizzak454

did you say hands-modded Breitling?! damn, you're brave modding something like that!

Deon Lee

I’ve literally put together all the ar’s that I own just the way I like other than a used m&p15 I got for a good deal and my ks47. I couldn’t imagine spending that much on a rifle especially not an ar15. I’d say about $2000 would be my cutoff and that’s still high and at that price I’m not buying a used cobalt. I’d get a pof or adm if I was getting an ar15 however if I had $2k to blow on a gun right now it would be an xcr from Robinson arms.

Steve Feeser

I watched the review to learn more about the Benchmade knife. Can't wait to see that review. Thanks!!!

Steve Feeser

Did you take the shooting bench on the bike too???

HairyPost

Great review!.. and they sell records at Walmart lol

Derek Sutton

Another awesome video nutnfancy...thank you. Im probably the most broke tnpr thats here i couldn't imagine spending 4k on a firearm like that...my ex wife will make sure of that for many more years to come lol

Andrettski

I always wondered what happened to all the ammo that gun collector had. Maybe the family kept it.

Andrettski

It's America, that's why we all have choices to buy/spend on whatever we want. It's a no from me although someone will end up with a nice/unique rifle around 40% orig. cost. I'd rather spend $$ on maybe a Jim Fuller AK. Great vid, still enjoyed watching.

Casey Jones

Totally agree. It’s no different than cars. Some people drive luxury vehicles because if Land Rover can convince someone to give them $100k on an SUV, good on’em. I drive a used Ford, it cranks every time I get in it and that makes me happy. Great review.

Kyle Soucy

Dang for $4200 you could by a KAC and still have money left over.

2 4 3 is me

Ha 4 k no way brother. Looks good tho

AK Rage

Shooting companions are so much fun. Thats honestly one of the main reasons I started following Nutn back in 2012. So I totally understand race guns. I'd go with a JP. their trigger is one of the best out there. Not to brag but I have an LWRC SPR-IC in 556 signed by Nutnfancy. Thats as fancy as I'll go.

Joshua Lund

Went to watch this vid this morning, and it was unavailable… then NF uploaded it to YouTube already

Green Mountain Boys

Wanna hate it, and then I remember what I paid for the Steyr Scout and FN Military Collector A4 clone in the safe and the 2nd cool kicks in.. .. if it makes ya happy...

Trevor K

This one is easy. There is just to many other options even just in ar15s alone for cheaper. Can’t really say much more.

Big Dog

PSA Dagger?

A

In your older videos you used a shop called "Get Some" and "Gun Vault". Have you ever been back to those places?

Matthew Larson

Super cool gun, and I've always been fascinated by CK's innovations in reloading (auto drop mag, auto release bolt on fresh mag) but I don't think it's worth the price tag they slapped on it.

Colin Ford

Love to see the high end AR's on occasion! Would not be buying it new but second hand possibly!

Micah G

For 4000? solid pass here. Thanks the hard work nutn! Really appreciated. Also, just wanted to say and I might be in the minority but I actually use the forward assist. For quiet loading and when I check my chamber to make sure I'm gtg. Just my 2 cents from hunting with the ar platform for a while.

Aquanaut

At my income level there is no way I could justify spending that much on a rifle. Cool gun, but it's just one more example proving I made the right choice with my M&P Sport. High value reliability all day long for this guy,

Colin R

You're totally right Nutnfancy. I never would I spend that much on an AR. Not a chance. Plus I'm an AK guy... $2k is insane to us.

Josh P.

Oh boy, that is one slick lookin gun. And you're right when you said most of us cant afford it lol, I spent less for my last pick up truck, and it's a nice truck. Have a buddy that is loaded and he has high dollar stuff. And everytime we get together and shoot hes added something else new on it and still yet I shoot just as well with my "hobby ar". Love ya nutn, God bless. Keep up the vids!

Paul Griech

i really can’t wait to here nutnfancya opinion on this!

Paul Griech

that’s hilarious 33$ watch paired with 4000$ bbc ar15

andrew billings

4K,no way, not when you can roll your own. I started building AR’s after the. “perfect AR15 vid” so much fun!

HuntsTheBoss

Nutn could we get a POU video on weapon lights some day. Very interested to hear your point of view.

Matthew Jantz

That forward assist bolt release might just be the best thing about this rifle.

Elijah Ballard

I’m pretty happy with my DB15. I have a 3x9x40 on it. Not in love my with optic. Just barely getting started into getting squared away. Sorry Nutn. I’m one of those.

Spencer Wiesner

What a very unique AR...haha and I thought my B.R.O. was bougie.

Mike R

I’m mean you could get top of the line parts with maybe titanium upgrades for weight and stay under 2k for a AR. For $4000+ is better be all carbon fiber and weigh a pound and a half and even then its still too expensive.

Daniel Herb

Nope! Too much money for one rifle, maybe spending that much for whole system is fine but not $4000 plus for just one part of a system. This one is really cool looking though and I see the appeal for it. Maybe if I could just sling 5K around like it was nothing I would feel different about getting one.
