You can trust us. In addition to having a will, living will, and power of attorney, I also had a family trust set up. It makes it a lot easier to settle the estate without probate. Many employers offer legal plans as part of the benefits package to cover these costs. My wife and I were just discussing updating our wills.

Less than a year ago covid killed my best friend. He was a 78 year old Pastor with a recent cancer diagnosis, so his death wasn't shocking. A few months later it killed his Son, who was a 2nd string lineman when The Boz was playing at O.U. which means he was a big man and had a few health problems, but his death was very shocking. Pray for his Mother, and my best friend's wife Miss Bert, as her life has changed drastically. BTW, none of us are vaccine takers, and neither do we pick on people who want the shot. It doesn't take a magical prayer, just say "God, I need your help." Based on your video, you already know this. The second part is to ask God for wisdom, which is seeing things the way God sees them. So sorry dude. I totally get what you're saying. I got out of touch with my parents and avoided them for a while. Then I got flesh-eating disease in 2014. I was in a coma for 2 weeks and almost died and spent 3 months learning to partially walk again. My left leg is paralyzed from the disease. Anyway, I was in a hospital by myself in a strange city with no family or friends around. My parents drove 3 hours one way at least twice a week to come and see me. They were always there when they could helping me. My dad took over my finances, dealt with my insurance and getting things arnaged with my work for me cause I couldn't even hold a phone for awhile. My mom did everything a mom does and then some. It's too gross to go into details. It gave me a whole new appreciation of family. I talk to my parents almost every day now. I appreciate every day they are still in my life and it's something I remind my brothers of once in a while when they get pissed at Dad. Because even though my Dad can be an asshole he has ALWAYS been there for us despite his meddling. 🙂 For me family is everything and we all do stupid things but we only ever get one family so work it out.

You’re so right about the grieving process and bereavement. When my Father pass it wasn’t sudden or accidental. He to was a Navy C-130 Pilot, flamboyant, proud of his country even thought he was poisoned by Agent Orange. After years of watching him die a slow death it was a relief when God called him home. Most of the family fell apart and most of the weight fell on me. I was fine, but when I was alone on my commute the tears would flow. It’s a sad experience and we will all have to go through it. How we go through it makes us stronger. As the knucklehead I am I went straight thru it and let it go to God.

Nutn – Thanks for sharing. Your words inspire me to take action to repair the broken relationship with my sister, which I have resisted doing because I feel I did nothing wrong. FWIW, the same type of accident happened to my brother, but he only lost his 4 front teeth. I watched it happen. My guess is your brother was traveling in the direction of the prevailing wind that forms those dunes. Public service note: Slow down and use extreme caution when traversing sand dunes in the windward direction. Conversely, high speed travel in the opposite direction is relatively safe. We still ride. Brother, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve gone through spine cord injury within my immediate family. Back in 2018, my wife and I were rear-ended by an F-150. We were at a red light in a Ford Fusion Hybred with a sunroof. He hit us doing over 60 MPH. The accident pushed us 250 feet through the intersection down into a drainage ditch and back up into a corn field(Indiana). The force of the crash was so great, it broke both of the front seats, I was saved by my daughters car seat, my wife had only a car seat base to stop her. She ended up slipping out of her seat belt and breaking the sun roof. We believe she made contact with the front and back of the sunroof opening during the accident. I broke my T2 and had a TBI, she broke C1-base of skull, C3-C5, and T2-T3 plus two TBIs. Basically, she’s fused from skull to middle back with only a few open joints. I can’t explain the pain our family endured. My oldest was 5.5 years old and my youngest was 6 months old when it happened. It completely tilted life on an axis. But everyone lived. I can’t image your pain. However, I support your mission. You will survive, and you will be a great guy showing your nephews how to honor the memories of their father! Love you and wish the best for your family.

Loss is so hard, I'm so sorry you and your family are having to go through this. Extremely saddened and shocked to hear about your sister as well, she was so sweet. I lost my mother when I was 19, I lost my older brother when I was in my 40's, my son was killed in a freak accident in our project car (80's BMW we restored) on his way to Diesal Tech school. He was only 19, it only happened a couple of years ago and my immediate family has completely fallen apart. I learned when my Mom died when I was 19 that you had to tell your loved ones how you feel. I made up with my father that abandoned us when I was 13. The night before my son was killed, I was returning from working out of state and he was leaving to go back to school in Pittsburgh. I had just walked in as he was walking out, I sat down and started to relax when it hit me that I need to go out and give him a hug. I did and I told him how much I loved him. I was awakened the next morning by the police at my door. I have lived my life making sure I tell people that matter to me that I love them. We have very delicate bodies and tomorrow isn't promised.

Nutn, your advice about being the one mends fences and restores relationships is good, I have a cousin that I broke things off with a few years ago because she is a very toxic narcissist. She took advantage of my kindness and the fact that we are family too many times and I totally walked away from her , shut her out of my life . Her daughter is my god daughter and doesn’t really understand everything that happened between us . So that’s the tough part . It’s a complex relationship that I have struggled with because my god daughter knows how I feel about her mom. I have never voiced it , but she can tell . Because of how manipulative and controlling she can be, I will always keep her at arms length , but I still pray on how I can make the whole situation a bit better ..

On a sunny beautiful saturday morning in October 2019 I was at work, sitting in the exact same spot I sit now, when I got the call. My wife's mom called to tell me to call the hospital... the cops were at the house looking for me and wouldnt talk to her at all. I knew it was gonna be bad but when the ER doctor very coldly and bluntly told me my wife had died of an overdose I just fell to the floor and cried. I had to pull it together and drive to the hospital to ID her and that day is forever seared in my memory. It took me 4 days to work up the nerve to explain this to our 4 year old son. Something again I will never forget and wouldnt wish on anyone. As someone one who has been there before, I feel you brother... very much so. I just wanted to say thank you for this video and the trust it takes to even have had made it. We are all sorrowful when we loose a loved one especially when it’s taken prematurely and unexpected. I’ve previously had a similar experience at my wedding. Everything went well however it would be the last time I see a great friend who would latter be taken while rescuing two teenagers who were attempting to drive a bronco through a flooded road. On his second attempt to get to the kids, his tag line became entangled with submerged debris and was pulled under. The department identified the hazard but as they attempted to retrieve the rescue diver the deeper he went with the tag line pulling him to depth. I was completely oblivious to this as my wife and I traveled Mexico and I remember landing in Texas and turning on my phone and explodes with text and voice messages.I think the lessons are to keep your duty to God, and try to keep this world a better place. Hang in there nutn, be a good uncle and continue to guide your nephews as they reach adulthood and threat them as one of your own. This past weekend, I made an easy to make mistake on track, but compounded the issue, by trying to continue to race and shattering my brake rotor, when I continued around through the next corner I tested my brakes and still had them, but then one of the toughest corners came up next....no brakes....completely gone....spin out the kart and go flying off the embankment backing it into the barriers. Kind of stupid, but it happens, I can't let accidents change things, so I ended up out of that race. I walked up to the starting grid, gear still on, got in my other kart for its next race in that class. Crazy things happen sometimes. Have to continue on....

Sorry buddy I lost my mom recently and my crazy nephew just got hit by a car in California and went through 25 hours of brain surgery and your totally right it came when i was so happy that day to will he survive. Yes he did but i am truly sorry about your brother and I know it will get a little better

So sorry to here about your loss. I am incredibly close with my sister and dread to think the pain I would experience if she passes before I do. My family just lost our father on the 9th to a heart attack. The first few days were excruciating and difficult, but we came to the realization that he would not want us to be sad about it. Rather he would wish us to celebrate the life he lived and cherish all the good times we had together. I am a believer in some type of higher power, but I am not religious. So I will conclude by saying; the loss of a loved one is a reminder not of how unfair life is, but rather how precious life is, and to let those around us know how much they mean to us.

My younger brother died in 1997 at the age of 31; a bodybuilder and USMC infantry grunt by falling down the stairs in his home when no one else was home and died from a brain bleed. He left behind a wife and two kids and it still affects me to this day. I lost my dad a year ago and a stepsister in September from COVID complications and another stepsister is still hospitalized and suffered organ and brain damage who just underwent a double transplant last week and has 2 kids still living at home. Both are/where younger than me and I have to ask “why them”. I feel for you brother and wish you all blessings to move on.
