After many years of painful waiting, COLT has delivered. Here I do the TNP review on the new Colt PYTHON. I got a 6 inch version on loan from Gunnies in Orem UT.  My enthusiasm will spill out on this GRV as you will see. That's because Colt got pretty much everything right in this legendary revolver. I'll make a bold prediction also on what I see happening to the uber expensive original Colt Python market as well!

How are you still awake nutn?

The Nutnfancy Project

I promised to post these tonight so I crammed in a late night session for ya'll

Silas Porter

I'm more of a Smith & Wesson guy having grown up with a model 17. But Colt sure does make a beautiful revolver. Thanks for all of your hard work Nutn.

Tyler Bassett

Hey Nutn! Thanks for another awesome review! I’m with you on that fact that old production Pythons will probably lose their value unfortunately. Looking forward to getting my hands on one of these for sure. Keep up the great work!!!

squealer

Why the ear protection? I thought this gun didn't require any, plus you can aim straight down and always get a head shot.

Daniel Martinez

I got my 6 inch in 2020; I didn’t know a trigger could be so smooth! I love everything about it…

TacticalBunnyCA

Ummm… did I just hear Nutn say “Browning Hi-Power”? A gun that that I totally want to see reviewed although can I almost guarantee I will never buy one? Yes please Nutn! Here’s an easy POU prediction collectible, collectible and collectible with maybe a waffling home defense use but not perfect because it doesn’t have a light rail.

JL10W

I was hoping for this gun when I voted, but convinced myself it was gonna be another S&W. I'm glad I was wrong!

Brian Jones

I predict that getting non-NATO calibers for any guns will be difficult for the next 2 years. Guys will buy this and then you will find them cheaper on GB because they can't get ammo.

rediius

My doctor mentioned at my last check-up: the proportion of people who can function optimally with less than 7 hours of sleep, expressed as a percent rounded to the nearest number, is ZERO. In other words, you should probably try to sleep regularly at every opportunity because you'll be able to make up for it in focus & intensity while you're awake.

Benson Huntley

Nice gun. I will catch hell for this but given the modern offerings, it seems overpriced. I say that because if something were to happen and this was next to a Glock 17 I would grab the Glock. I get the second cool factor and if that is the reason then go be you.

Racing Psychosis

I still love the Ruger GP100. The Colt is a temptation gun. Fun review.

Downtrodden

I live close to S&W. I often jog past the original Colt factory on lunch breaks. I just love the history of gun making in the Connecticut River / Pioneer Valley. I think it’s necessary that I own a Colt and this will likely be the one. Heirloom quality.

JC

I never liked the oversized revolver. At that point I'd rather have a long slide 10mm lmao

Adam Boyd

Very cool! If I was in the market for a big wheel gun, I'd definitely consider it. I like those SOGs too. I just got the Seal XR. Excellent lock. I love the whole package. I'm surprised it isn't a HOF blade since it's jimped everywhere.

Schmuckatelli

I've never heard someone talk about how happy they were that they sold one of their guns. In fact, all I've ever heard has been story after story about how a gun owner regrets selling one of their guns. So I'll be holding on to my old Python. Will I buy a new one? Mmmm...no. I'd love to shoot one to compare it to my old one, but I won't be spending that much on a second Python. Am I happy about the value of my Python being affected by the release of the new ones? Mmm...I have no intentions of ever selling mine, so while I'm not excited that I paid twice the price of the new ones, I do have the hand-fitted, walrus-polished, nickel-plated original. So...I got that goin' for me.

Adam Boyd

I'm still very glad to have sold my .40 Beretta 9000s. Other than that singular example, I'm with you.

Dawson Rabb

That's a beautiful snake. In this era of items dominated by China production, this is a wonderful example of American craftsmanship.

Lon N

Schweet revolver. Thanks Nutn. The livestream was appreciated even though I missed 90% of it.

Andrettski

I couldn't ever blame anyone for spending that much on such a beautiful revolver. It's all about choices. I recently got my first revolver, a GP100, and I love it.

Clint Allison

Interesting take on it. I like the new Pythons. I hope they release a blue one. I'm not sure the price will fall on the old ones. I look at them like pre 64 Winchesters or something similar. As of right now, they continue to climb in price but I think it has more to do with inflation than the gun's value. I've got a 1960 6" blued Python if you ever need to do a comparison. It's a shooter and a good one at that. These guns loaded with 38s are just such sweethearts to shoot. I love my Smiths but I'll be the first to admit, the Python is a whole different level. Thanks for the excellent review.

Stefan Knie

I always wanted a python, now I really need to get one, wifey won't be happy, I'll blame you 😁😁

IndianaBen

“This addictive 2nd cool thing…” yep sums up a lot of things lol

WallBreaker37

FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting on this review for so long! Thanks for another quality review Nutn’!

The Nutnfancy Project

Exactly, so glad to see as a country we can produce such quality, Colt nailed it

The Nutnfancy Project

The Python is a whole different level, just such a cool gun. Glad you scored an older one; so hard to find now. Most going for up to $3K is in pristine condition!

Joshua Mount

I purchased one maybe 3 months after they came out and ive put a out 200 rds of full bore 357 through it and a bunch of 38s with no issues. 1500 i gladly ponied up. I bought the 2 inch Kimber K6 DASA and thats a awesome revolver too. I been carrying it alot lately. I collect vintage smiths and colts so im kind of a revolver guy. I dont always carry one because its a labor of love and im lazy sometimes but in the winter when i got a heavy wool jacket on. You bet im carrying a heavier gun. Yeah its expensive but its not unobtainable for anyone. Stop drinking coffee or whatever your guilty pleasure is for 4-6 months and im sure youll be close to getting one.

Gilberto Esquivel

Instant Chub. If I got one, I would pet it and fondle it for at least a week before I fired it.......The Gun! I mean the Gun...

Steve Feeser

So, you're saying this is a front heavy enjoyment piece?

Kenny VanCleave

Such a beautiful gun. I hope Colt makes enough of them, so the asshats don't hoard them and drive the price up. Great review and I'm glad your doing better.

Andrew Baldwin

There's one in my local shop that I go and look at every so often. Never go in there without holding it and I feel like Mike Myers in Wayne's World. "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine"

David Perez

🤘🤘🤘, cool review! Stoked on picking up a King Cobra, they are great looking guns.

Ruben Lopez

Hey Nutn! Just got done with my first tactical training class, FightingPistol! It was pretty awesome!

A

If S&W would get rid of their frame locks, more people might buy their classic models...! SMH

A

@Nutn Would like to see a S&W 640 Pro review (direct competitor to the K6s).

Greg Malcom

In a world where our government is trying to kill us (the jab), it's great to have these videos for some escapism. It's like a buddy in the room.

john milochis

I would love to own one but over here down under there selling for $3200 in our own currency and not to mention a lot of people who have the money are buying them so is a waiting list for them

RowdyRon

I held one of these at the Luke BX about a month ago. Dry fired it. It took some self control to leave it at the counter. I know what you mean about that frenzy. I almost bought a Combat Troodon today! :) Thanks Nutn.

DACampbell

Great review. I will be searching for a new Python. The cone fit and the lack of drag mark are pretty impressive. How did you clean the pistol? The amount of carbon buildup looked very small.

Eric Kelley

Hey Nutn……what’s the outro music? Very cool tune.

Duane R. Anderson

They have one here in Suffolk VA. At CE Tactical on Godwin. Good folks there.

Pat McGroin

Ammo currently over $1 rd. I dig mine. Makes me happy just fondling it. Safe queen for my boy when he is ready. I bought way way early. $1800 and i dont care.

Colin R

Gun lust. It's a beauty

Colin R

The heart wants what the heart wants.

Colin R

Whoa. Australia is tough man.

Colin R

Great reference

Colin R

Agreed. Also, I just put an MCarbo spring kit in my regular GP 100 and polished the internals and it shoots better than my match champion GP now. I'm a Ruger fanboy now without knowing it

Colin R

.357 NATO? I kid I kid. Lol. Let me know if you see some cheap 38 or 357.

David Threadgold

I took one I borrowed to Alaska bow hunting on kodiak island and shot water jugs floating in the ocean and that was hard

Chris carr

Sorry zero 2nd cool for me. I’m a ruger guy. My super blackhawk 2nd cool, super redhawk 1st cool. 340grains 44mag all day.

Dom

Jelly

Andrettski

I did notice that they have a spring kit for it , so thanks for the positive MCarbo feedback. I upgraded my Kel-Tec Sub 2000 with MCarbo(almost all their upgrades) and am very pleased so definitely will look into it more.

Kyle Fiss

Makes little sense to me that they would make these without offering a Blued option.

The Nutnfancy Project

I use a lead removal cloth on the revolvers to clean them. Works great. Birchwood brand.

Randal Carden

Thanks for another great review. I hope your health issues continue to improve quickly. I inherited my dad’s 1957 Colt Python he had on his Alaska homestead. He said when out clearing brush, a grizzly could charge out before you could get to the rifle lying in your truck bed, and the Python in a shoulder holster was a capable self defense weapon. I’m glad to hear Colt did the new Python justice and am looking forward to adding one to my collection.

Andrew Stutzman

Hey Nutn, did you get any light primer strikes in rapid double action? I have a 80's model that does this sometimes and supposedly it was a pretty common issue? I have not yet tested different primers, Federal vs other brands.

Daniel Herb

So much want for this Colt Python!!! I have to save up for it now.

Chris Christensen

Love mine. Need to review the newer Anaconda soon.

Tacticaldoodle

If it's all original, it'd be worth it to try out some newer springs, I've heard it makes a pretty big difference

Jesse (Sphinx)

Had the King Cobra Target model. Trigger was inferior to S&W with a heavier double action and a meh single action--and the reset is horrendous. That extra click before it really resets causes you to go for the second pull, and something feels "crunchy" in the action when you pull from there, and it locks up until you release it all the way. Poor lockwork design and S&W is way better. The old Pythons apparently have the same lockwork design. Also, the pistol shot about 12 inches left and 12 inches high from the box. Had to max out elevation and windage adjustments to get it to hit point of aim. If the python is functionally anything like the the King Cobra, I'll stay far far away. They are beautiful to look at though--I was mesmerized when I saw the King Cobra and snapped it right up. I've now sold it at a loss and bought another Smith!

Ben Wagner

I love your disappointed expression (light strikes at beginning of video).
