TacticalDoodle starts us off with his silliness and it's fun. We'll take some detours too; one is if you need to shoot these loud short barreled AR pistols with a silencer or not.  Soon enough we get down to business on the surprisingly excellent Sig M400 Tread, here in pistol form. My previous review addressed some deficiencies and too high pricing. Those have been fixed.

We'll cover all the bases. Of course we can't help ourselves as we delve into the VTP POU. An AK variant stands its own here, always a favorite in its 7.62x39mm chambering. But then we give full props to this Tread AR15 lineup and give you the bottom line!

Compact scope solution, the Swampfox Arrowhead: Check out the $468 1-10x option, https://shrsl.com/2ncni.

Powernoodle

Okay, Powernoodle doesn't know diddly about the whole AR-15 pistol with brace genre, but after a little google work and patrolling kygunco.com, it all looks pretty darn cool. One can only buy so many plastic striker guns, CZ hammer guns, and revolvers, before the buzz sorta goes away. The AR-15 pistol with brace is sorta making my leg tingle.

Awesome review Nutn… I for one wanna keep the GRV rolling no matter whether it be builds or factory made !! It’s all useful info! After watching a bunch of at pistol vids and all ur vids on the subject I jumped and go into the game myself this past summer . Was gonna build it completely but got lazy and bought an Aero Precision M4e1 complete lower and 10.5 upper separately n just slapped them together lol. It is loud n after doing what research I could I decided on a surefire warcomp, still loud but definitely manageable, a few rounds standing a couple yards behind the shooter n it was bearable! Also the signature reduction is outstanding with the warcomp ( just pricey ! ). And definitely couldn’t agree more about the Holosun, rocking the 403C I think , with a magnifier and it is a sweet little shooter. Definitely full fills it’s roll of a kinda edc rifle! I did think about the tread but money was a little tight so buying this as an upper and a lower worked out ! Not trying to sound like an ad for Aero , it’s all cool stuff , anyway awesome content Nutn, thanks so much! Tnpr for life !

Ryan Nichols

I pretty much know how it’s going to go down, but I’m still waiting for you to review a Daniel Defense MK18 since you have been doing all of these AR pistols. Haha another awesome info-tainment review thanks! Lol

The Nutnfancy Project

Great project gun you did Anthony! How does it shoot? Thanks for being TNPr for Life btw

Anthony Schaad

Sooo far lol, I’ve put 300 hundred rounds thru it an haven’t had any malfunctions at all. My groupings have been wry good, MOA for sure but I’ve mostly shot training drills at 25 - 45 meters in an around structures. Can’t wait to stretch out the distance n get some long range in ( prob 300yrds) !

Nutn leaving a rifle in the car while I run errands just doesn’t sit well with me. I see the purpose of having a truck gun but I feel it is a bit reckless. The only time I would justify a truck gun would be a trip to Anchorage. Anchorage has a really bad theft issue due to homeless population. The theft issue cancels out any plan for a truck gun IMO. What are your thoughts on POU of a truck gun?

HOF intro. Val might have farted but the girl grabbed by Cheritto likely filled her pants.

Awesome GRV with TacticalFarter.... First hopeful glance at the H&K (until I saw the puny mag well) was that it was a H&K 51 boom monster. An often overlooked benefit to an AR pistol is many states forbid a loaded rifle in the vehicle, but a loaded pistol isn't a legal problem. As always, hoping for some 6.5 Grendel content.

PS: more Swampfox info/review?

I’ve had an m400 Sig with a 16” barrel and MOE furniture since 2014 and it’s my main rifle. It is perfect. I have an EOTech with a 3x vortex magnifier and a surefire mounted up front. Bought it very reasonably from WalMart when they got out of scary guns.

Brad Fegan

You should see my Sig M400 pistol Spartan in burnt bronze. I do need to do something about the factory muzzle device though. I want a can but the cost of the can AND tax stamp, I can buy ammo or another firearm.

Charles Wester

Your "time out" joke had me laughing. One time in the middle of a firefight in Iraq my Squad Leader told me to cease fire. He pulled out a pack of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls and handed me one. We sat there for two or three minutes chatting, smoking, and enjoying our snack while bullets, RPG's, and mortars came down around us. When we were done we got back in the fight like it was no big deal. He was just hungry I guess..

Cesar C

Thanks for the review Nutin! My lady friend has this in the carbine. It seams to shoot a little smoother than my M&P 15, which has been great, and bought upon your recommendation. Both set up with the Vortex 1 - 6. Now I want the pistol version of the Sig.

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

There's a spot where you guys talk about the Savage trigger that's on the MSR 10, I know your guys' sample sucked but mine is AMAZING. 3.5 LB, smooth. My theory is that your review made them go back to the drawing board on it.

Clint Raby

Love the scary black rifle reviews!!!

Hold Fast Joe

I also used a Savage recon in the 30k+ serial range and it's stock trigger was similar. Light and decent. I am weird and prefer a longer pull 2 stage but confirming the same. I think they fixed the trigger for anyone who may be considering buying one. Also the savage recon 16" barrel was very good. Using fiocchi 55gr ammo I ran it in a known distance Appleseed event where we shot 4 stages from 100 to 400 yards. Best group I got with it was in the transition from standing to sitting position 10 rounds at 200 yards in 55 seconds with a mag change and I had a nice 2 inch group with 9 holes. I either missed one completely or ran out of time,I don't recall what happened to the miss. Later in the prone position unsupported I got an 8 inch group at 400 yards with 10 rounds. We were running things pretty fast, barrels were warm and it was hot that day.

Hold Fast Joe

Oh plus I had bought an early model and it's stock trigger was much worse, I replaced it as soon as I found a 2 stage I liked. The newer models don't have the honey comb stock pad. So you can easily identify them without checking serial numbers

Hold Fast Joe

How's the accuracy on the msr10? The recons I'm talking about are the 15s, in 223/556

Jason Boyles

I recently got an AR stoner trigger kit that is really nice. It's a standard military trigger, but polished to a very buttery 4.5lb pull. So good, and cheap!

Jamie Ayers

Swamp fox optics-I would love to hear more of your thoughts on scopes and pistol optics. I’ve used the pistol optic. So far so good. Scopes look nice. They have flash sales and have really nice discounts for LEO’s and military.

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

It's pretty decent but it's got ammo preferences. It doesn't like inexpensive PMC, which at best is 5" at 100 yards. Of course, what's cheap and readily available? It does, however, seem to do okay with everything else. I have not found a load that is exceptional in it, though.

Andrettski

Great story, thank you for your service.

Andrettski

I love my pistol build, Aero upper/lower with all quality components throughout. Gonna try a couple diff optics setups to round it out. Right now Vortex Razor AMG

Trevor K

i wanna see some vintage ARs. try and get one of them brownells retro guns in the project. id like to see your take on them.

tmobile8

As the famous Rut Daniels says "If the trigger's gold the bird will fold" lol

I took the SBA3 Brace off my Ruger 10.5” and put a blade on instead. It’s a pretty heavy gun and the SBA3 feels mushy to me. It has a inexpensive flash can type muzzle device on it and it’s definitely not crazy loud. I have a flashlight mounted on it, mostly because I use it to keep from putting my hand in danger. The 10.5 makes swinging the muzzle between targets better. I like to set up steel targets in the desert, shooting multiple target drills in the desert makes me happy.

Hold Fast Joe

5.. ugh.. at least it goes bang. You could always swap out the barrel and keep the rest I guess. That's too bad man. Maybe ship it in to Savage tell them to fix it?

Austin Cobb

Samson SXT-10 is a direct swap hand guard. Uses the exact same barrel nut and also comes with the proprietary barrel nut tool in case you need it in the future!

Will Teasle

Why they name it after a tank wheel?

Paul Griech

can you do a video about suppressors or cans and maybe explain what a nielson device is for pistols there’s not a lot of good information on cans and how to get started!

RowdyRon

Really cool video. Good to see TD. Thanks Nutn.

Greg Malcom

Thanks Nutn and TD! Love having TD in the vids.

David Elkins

Love these vids with Nutn and TD

JC

I remember when Tim Pool got one of these from Crowder and he said it was "way too much for what anyone could need." Lmfao

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

I'm actually switching out my PSA rifle in my car for a PSA pistol., I checked the M400 and they want a grand for it. I could build better for less even in this environment. Your end of this is right. There are better competitive options.

Shadeslinger

Gearhead Works Tailhook mod 2 for a pistol brace. Price has come down to match the SBA3. I find it superior to the SBA3 as a stock and a brace.

Willie Everett

My complete rifles are my goto, my builds are secondary.

Ruggedmeetsrefined

IWI Zion 12.5” AR pistol is supposed to be super legit. $830 with SBA3 brace, 1 and 8 twist chrome lined barrel. For now, they are readily available. Nobody with a strong following has done a review on the Zion pistol. Supposed to be great value and great quality.

steve fulston

Great video nutn thank you for the M400 update! Ive been looking to get a new already built AR 15 and have been thinking long and hard about something out of the M400 line!

Super Bob

Finger on trigger?

Hey, Nutn, got a request if you can find the time: Could you post an updated video for recommended scopes/optics? These quick references to a scope like the Swampfox within the GRV's can get tough to keep track of. Appreciate all the time and effort from you and the family to keep this operation going.
