It looks interesting. But Hum, it’s valve could go up. If it survives the class action lawsuit after some tight pants east coast dude cuts himself. Or after China takes Taiwan and the Spyderco factory turns into a female urinal maker for the Navy. Just kidding

I can’t spend money on a knife unless I love it or it’s just a great value with first cool capability. I just can’t get into collecting or trading. Having said that, if I did either I’d gobble a couple up and I think Nutn is on point with his prediction.

Always in for a KRV, thanks Nutn. In the family of Sypdeco's slightly ugly daughters, the Tropen was voted "most likely to be described as having a great personality"... Only way I would buy one would be if it poops a new $ 100 bill every day

The Amalgam hasn’t been discontinued. It’s in the 2022 catalog. Still an opportunity to grab the blade if interested, Although Taichung produced Spyderco’s have gone in 18% in price this year. More than Golden’s 10% price increase. Inflation sucks.

It is cool. But if I got a compression lock I want to be able to wail that thing back and forth, the fidget factor of compression locks is a big part of the charm for me. Also the way the handles are smoothed out with that basic hardware it 100% looks like an Aliexpress knock off to me. The shape is cool though. Wish you would have shown it being deployed from the pocket.

The Tropen is interesting, but I'm not sure it's for me. On the other hand, the Manix 2 Lightweight is my favorite EDC blade, glad to see it make an appearance!

I started buying just about every model of spyderco there is with the compression lock. It's my favorite lock and they have a lot of knives with it--including one of my very favorites, the Amalgam. I don't have the Tropen or the Shaman, but I might pick this one up. I have a local dealer with one in stock, I'm pretty sure.

My interest peaked up when you said it was a 4” blade. Finishing on the handle looks nice. No desire to add this to the collection though. A bit too funky.
