i still always fall back to my hamilton field watch with nato strap it’s my go to favorite

Winter Fox

But what's the bang factor?!

Jammerjim

Really like that blue!

Schmuckatelli

I've been eye-ballin' the Timex Expedition for a couple of years now and I think it's about time I just pull the trigger on this one. That Indiglo lume looks pretty amazing. I like to wear my watches while I sleep and I'll check the time in the middle of the night if I wake up. I don't have many watches that provide adequate lume for my mid-night time checks, so an Indiglo would be a welcome feature. Besides...how can you go wrong for $50?

Matt W Plank

Diggin’ the WRV’s, Nutn! I like watches of all genres, styles, etc. Been a passion of mine for over 30 years. Thanks for introducing guys and gals to VALUE and variety.

Anthony Schaad

Was just getting ready to get a new timex lol. My watch fell out of my gym bag and the back popped off, I’m having a heck of a time getting it back on 🙈. But I like the brand and I’m slowly getting into watches ! Thanks for the great review Nutn!

Those Scouts are so classic. Did a catch and release with a grey dial one a while back when testing out field watches. I like that blue and camo variation. May revisit this model.

Tomcat503

Bought one (40mm - Black Dial / White Numerals) a couple of months ago to use for quick time checks when I'm flying GA. A lot better than trying to find the small time display on ForeFlight with my reading glasses...lol. The nylon band is not very comfortable. As Nutn points out, it's ripe for an upgrade.

Really like the look of these watches. I was looking to buy one about a year ago, but ended up spending a little more on a Seiko 5 automatic, which looks very similar. Mine has a stonewashed light metal case, a forest green face, and an OD woven strap. Sick. The self-winding is super cool. It doesn't have lume, but it does have a glow feature on the hands and the hour markers. Great EDC watch, I'd totally recommend.

Andrettski

Really, it's all about the lume, which is nice.

Brian Driver

I'm a fan of Timex and the Casio G-shock for affordable options. Seiko are good mid-range options. My "dress watch" is Bulova.

Carl Bailey

Thanks for bringing this one. the ones I had seen were the 40s and I thought they just looked to small.

Downtrodden

I think Seiko 5 is an excellent choice when stepping up to automatics. I wear automatics 95% of the time but I like knowing I have a quartz or two that I can grab-n-go and not have to reset everything.

Joshua Pulliam

I’ve always liked the looks of those. But the military time bothers me. There isn’t a such thing as 2400 hours.

Mike M

I picked up an Expedition Solar a few months back. I wear it daily. Swapped the leather strap out for a Barton silicone and like it much better

Bernal

Push button lume, now you’re talkin’! Wear a nice watch and a good pair of shoes to match, and you’ll likely be forgiven by the ladies for the worn-out jeans and

...old t-shirt

I love Timex Indiglo. To get around the annoying loud Timex tick of the seconds hand, I got the chronograph version which moves the seconds ticker to one of the small dials. This allows me to sleep with it. Mine is 100 meters water resistant and came with an awesome silicone strap that has a little nub that locks into the band keeper to prevent it from sliding around. TW2R67300. 20 mm lugs

Matt

Nutn'. Really appreciate the high value gear reviews! Picked up a canik, lightning, and smael based on your favorable recommendations! Still waiting on a table top review of megaphones! LOL!

Ol Retired Fed

I bought an Expedition Scout 40 in black with a green NATO strap last year when they were $39. I did not think I would like the strap, but it's my favorite style wrist band now. Great watch for the money.

Eric Gregory

I love and hate my Timex’s. The faces are clearly legible, they’re thin and accurate, and the indigo night light is spectacular. Then they break! So much for the old logo “take a licking and keep on ticking”, that era has long past.

hoplite ⚔️

Hahaha that’s funny. I put a megaphone into one of the home defense kits.

The Nutnfancy Project

That's too bad to hear. I will say I haven't hard core used these. I have found the crystals scratch easy but I clear coat them and that takes care of it.

DuginIN

I’ve been wanting a blue analog watch to coordinate with other edcs. in blue. Lots of knives, Olight Baton Pro, O’Pen Pro and O’Pen Mini. This Timex is it. Ordered the $64.00 titanium brass case. Found a blue Hemsut silicone band to swap out. Fun and enjoyable WRV.

Ryan Reese

I saw the blue and thought a TNP version, blue dial with black case wound be awesome!

Jeremy doblinger

I've been using a expedition for work for atleast 15 years.. I've busted a couple. Iam a welder/fabricator and they are slim and strong.. run it on a nato strap. These expeditions are great!

Jeremy doblinger

Also the Indiglo is the best and brightest I've seen on any watch.

Ol Retired Fed

That is a third downside. I was getting ready to clear coat the crystal and noticed a scratch. How did that happen so quickly? No idea. My advice is to coat them as soon as you buy them. Unless you don't really care.

Ryan Reese

Cool WRV. I can vouch… Nutn loves to send out watches and I’ve been a fortunate beneficiary a few times now! Nutn, are you still on a Series 2 Apple Watch? Mine rode on my right wrist for about 6 years until the battery took a dump a couple months ago.

Jayson Fraser

I’ve got two colorations and I dig them. Mine are both 40mm, which is about as small as I usually like, so maybe I’ll have to try the 43mm if I can find a good deal. One of mine came on a NATO and the other on a canvas strap, so I had a fine experience with the stock straps (but I do put them on other NATOs a lot too).

Rogue Weasely

I snagged a practically new one at a pawn shop for 20$ ;) I'm going to give it to a co-worker.

Jack Farmer

I’ve had 3 over the years. Spot on with the strap, I had the OD canvas strap with “leather” accent on the lugs and after a year of hard wear on the farm the leather tore out. Tried to buy a replacement strap and the pins wouldn’t seat tight in the lugs so it kept coming undone… so I pitched it and bought the next level up expedition, black with FDE canvas straps, and loved it. I ended up absolutely trashing that watch, again after 1 full year, with welder splatter completely pitting the crystal to where you couldn’t read it any more, so I bought another one. This is the same feature as my last Expedition, with the chronograph, I went out on a limb with a black on black with stark red contrast hands and silicone band. Really like the looks of the watch. Down sides are the chronograph hand isn’t straight up centered and the silicone strap is “grabby” on clothing (probably a personal pet peeve). Over all I’m a huge fan of the expedition watches. I’ve used my watches HARD for 3 years and are into it $150… and a $200 watch still breaks the same.

Bravo

Not gunna catch any hate from me on this review. I love this watch. Actually bought my dad one for this past Christmas. Still rocks his g shock at work but when he’s working a round home he usually will run the less heavy duty watch (lay timex [green variegation]).

Daniel Herb

Is this one easy to mod as well?

RNVN

Nice review! After watching TNP for over a decade, I'm finally dipping my toes into the world of analog watches for 2nd cool, and it's fun! I got the chronograph version of the Expedition, and I dig it a lot. My son is learning how to read an analog clock, and he loves resetting the chronograph and watching all the hands spin haha. Thanks for all the great content

Bluegill097

Late to the game here, but man is that just a classic look! Might be in my new price range too aka less than a tank of Biden gas

mike stevens

I've had an expedition for many years now. Green face with white hands and hour markers with red seconds hand. Indiglo is great but the digital display between 4:30 and 7:30 makes dark morning hands lume only reading difficult. It does provide alarm and other digital functions. All in all a great watch.

Zachary

Finally joined patreon today! I’ve been a TNP’r since around 2009-10. Thanks to you Nutn I’ve become a a total gear nerd, and also a watch addict. Initially, I was not the least bit into watches, but as I began watching your watch reviews, sure enough, you planted a seed, and now watches are perhaps my favorite thing to collect! Keep up the watch content, its become my favorite! \m/

Eric Ohme

I need a watch. Had a nice Tissot but it never kept time. Timex might be the one!

Sean Durso II

I have an old Timex Indiglo from the lats 80s that belonged to my grandfather and it's still tickin! Replaced strap of course, and it has some wear, but it's still functional including glow. Bought an Expedition a couple months ago and it's fantastic. The strap doesn't feel very durable, but not problems so far. Great addition, Thanks Nutn!
