Paul Colburn

But is it a PPK? I dont want a PPK/S (glock 43x) I want the Original PPK in .32acp.

hoplite ⚔️

I’ve been smashing the TNP Walther videos since the PDP review. Waiting for a PPQ 5” to be delivered…

Nicholas Saviano

Ppk is still cool as shit and I’m glad James Bond still uses it.

Paul Colburn

I get your complaints about the direction of the Bond canon but if you look at the theme. Which is….stories of Mi6/CIA agent’s. Its not absurd to portray a Black female 007. While i dont agree with the fantasy portrayal of a woman being equal to a man (physically) I wouldn’t discount their eligibility for an Mi6 agent slot. Furthermore I would propose that females provide a better canvas for espionage agents because a lightweight skeletal frame is a better vehicle for confined battlefields when equipped with compact lightweight kit. And they will better infiltrate the male dominated hierarchy of supervillain groups through seduction and their low perceived threat status.

David Gaines

I want one of these. No collection is complete without.

Andrettski

Speaking of a dictator, Lil' Castro up yonder, go ahead and help mankind out and do us all a favor. If anyone got a PPK it 'must' be in SS. Total cool factor. I haven't watched 007 since Roger Moore and of course Sean Connery.

Jonathan-James

Oh man. Might be yoga pants and hormone treatments for 007 in future movies. Will it be secret or overt? And maybe a colaberative movie with Tom Cruise in Whopper Impossible.

David MN

I need a PPK for nostalgia but they are for sustained gun fights 007 keeps finding himself in! Yay for Gunnies, visited them from MN last fall, great place, didn't see you Nutn for a gear check, lol

Andrettski

I also only watched the first 2 Star Wars, first 2 Lord of the Rings. And the original True Grit will never be topped IMO. I like Jeff Bridges but come on man, no one can beat 'The Duke'.

Paul Colburn

Im in the classic ppk / DB6 car camp for the latest canon. but it is ironic that Nuttin calls bs on implementing outdated kit on a 2022 espionage battlefield but flips script on the latest non traditional gender implementations. I say go full traditional. Leave the modern spycraft to Jason Bourne, Jack Buer, and Hanna.

hoplite ⚔️

PPK is prohibited here in 🇨🇦 I believe due to barrel length. My late father did pick up a BB PPK for second cool, glad to have it in the collection. Very cool design, but I totally get Nutn’s rants on equipping Bond with a modern GTW pistol. Having the PPK show up cameo style as a backup would be great. Or maybe Q drops the 380 barrel and modifies it to a frikin’ laser gun!

Rob

.380 with Lehigh Defense "Extreme Penetrator" or Ruger ARX non-expanding fluted bullets had large wound channels and penetrated in the 12-18" FBI protocol in calibrated gelatin, both bare and with the denim layers. This was from "Shooting the Bull" site. Compare the .380 "Extreme Penetrator" to the conventional rounds that won the 9mm "ammoquest" and it looks like that .380 round is superior when comparing wound channels and consistent penetration depth in the FBI window. The same "extreme penetrator" bullet in the 9mm over penetrated. This makes sense when you factor that it takes a decent amount of energy to expand a bullet. If you are getting your wound channel without having to first deform a bullet, you can do it with less energy.

Yes female agents do make sense in several situations and indeed they can and have infiltrated more easily. This has actually been represented quite well in JB; just like the "Spy Who Loved Me." Barbara Bach was the Soviet female agent. Indeed strong capable women have always been in the franchise. But what has happened here is much more insidious and has an agenda: immasculate the womanizing white male. I talked to this in Be a Manly Man series. They've done it well in the last movie and literally kill this "antiquated" Bond off. This is part of the progressive movement perhaps with James Bond being one of the last King Pins to be eliminated. How dare you be a testosterone infused male who has frequent sex with beautiful, slender women and kills bad guys at will. That's part of the message and it comes across very clearly in the last few movies. Taking his place will probably be the black female agent, the Progressive standard bearer of 'truth'...all in line with today's narrative. We'll see if that kind of "Bond" finds an audience. I'll probably dial out.

Downtrodden

Great review. I dig the outro. PPK, 2nd cool all day long! I like to shoot things so caliber availability is my big limitation. But what other modern production handgun has this kind of 2nd cool for under a grand? If Bond can switch to BMW or Omega, why can’t Bond carry a Sig? Walther marketing must run deep.

The Nutnfancy Project

Here's another female agent from the 80s even: "Holly Goodhead" in Moonraker! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079574/characters/nm0001042She was strong, smart, capable and everybody loved that character. But alas was slim, attracted to men, beautiful, white, has a sexually suggestive name (that made men laugh btw), and female. Dr Goodhead, aka a CIA Operative won't be allowed in today's Progressive Bond. She strikes out in four of the five attributes I list and that won't be tolerated in the era of identity politics and appropriate points awarded.

Paul Colburn

I will probably Dial out as well. I can’t see how they will top Daniel Craig. That being said, Bond has always “infiltrated” the supervillan’s group by avenue of the Vagina of the villan’s pet. And its kind of played out. Honestly what sociopath hellbent on killing everyone has a tortured Hot chick around that he’s not tapping. I never felt in the last 4 films that they were trying to Immasculate JB, only simply portray his age. Doing the Math here…….DR. No filmed in 1960 and assuming JB is a 40yr old. In 2022 he’s 100 yrs old. Unless we are doing the DC comics thing where superman dies before the Reboot/Marvel comics thing with split realities. Finally JB has always been womanizing. Even Sean Connery admitted that he believes women need to be slapped around occasionally. When putting on my Christian blinders and Looking through the spycraft world lense; this isnt an issue for me because I understand thatthe villain’s pet is disposable collateral compared to the mission of “saving the world.” But when I use my Christian compass while looking through the movie affects culture lense. I wouldn’t want my daughter watching the old JB films.

Paul Colburn

Anywho speaking on guns I wasn’t much excited about the PPK In the most recent film as much as i was excited about that FN Hipower that he had on the Bachelor island. I believe on the screen play for Dr.No, JB is sporting a 1911 but is ordered to switch to the PPK. But the director of the film changed the replaced gun from a 1911 to a Beretta citing that a spy wouldn’t carry such a big iron. I think its interesting since everyone in reality from Mi6 to the isreali assassins preferred the beretta tomcats, bobcats and cheetahs. Please Nuttin do a review on the up coming Girsan $400 FN Hipower clone!!!

Cyborg009

Trying hard to get this Patreon deleted, aren’t you?

Brad Fegan

I have a S&W PPK. It is mainly a collectable. Just to say I have one. Will I get a new one in the future?...mmmm I don't know. I will say this. I was in a store recently. I had a choice between a new PPK and a S&W 39-2 with original box and 3 magazines. I bought the 39. Now THAT is a cool gun. Even though it is a larger heavier single stack 9mm. I would carry that over a PPK. Now I have a proposal on James Bond movies. How about we all grit our teeth on him carrying the PPK as long as keep the wokeness out of the movie? Thoughts???

Scott Kirkwood

relax nutin'. you sound like a talking head on a news channel that just has to find something to gripe about (they put m&m's in a pant dress! ; ). JB is all about style. like previous commenter, let other spy franchises worry about appropriate weaponry.

Shawn Kuse

I’ve owned several PPKs. They are more collectible than being useful. Like you said, many other lighter 380s out there that I use as a secondary backup. Mine is an LCPII. Cannot find a bunch of 380 ammo without paying astronomical $$ for them.

Ol Retired Fed

Yea, finding 380 in mid 2021 was like hens teeth. But I had a sale add for Aguila 380 FMJ from Ammo Planet at $20 a box. I can't find 9mm around here for that price, it's all $21 to $22. Availability is getting better around here in the gun stores and the price is also coming down.

Nathan Bashaw

My first carry gun was a used PP made in west germany, poor college student who wanted a PPK but could only find a PP in my price range. Still carry it every once in a while, but with other more capable options its purely for 2nd cool. But yeah, its a favorite to wear under suit jacket so...

Hold Fast Joe

Cool review! Not hitting on point of aim.. I would be very annoyed and it would be up for sale eventually Super cool pistol! Thanks!

Joshua Pulliam

The PPK is not for me. Sure it looks cool and would be fun to own. But it’s too costly for a fun gun for me. I have a new PPQ on hold for me at a local gun store. I found it looking for a Gen 3 G17. I’ve always wanted one and I was sad when I learned that they had been discontinued. They dropped the price 50 bucks without me asking them. I’ll be stopping by tomorrow to make it official!

Joshua Pulliam

Same! I’m picking up a 4” PPQ tomorrow!

Jude Torres

Personally the PPK has never interested me, nor has caliber .380 in any firearm form. It is also the worst possible choice as a “primary” weapon for the likes of 007. Backup yes primary absolutely not.

Harley

I always passed….being a lefty.

The Nutnfancy Project

Hello Joe, thanks much for watching it. It is cool but yes the POA is a big gripe

The Nutnfancy Project

" How about we all grit our teeth on him carrying the PPK as long as keep the wokeness out of the movie? " I'm down! Maybe we can issue him 10 rd mags too to make up for it. Great job scoring the S&W Model 39, what a great gun. I talk about it in the S&W Model 59 video I did. https://youtu.be/270SP42s3O0

The Nutnfancy Project

Yep, .380 ammo is outrageously expensive now. It will kill sales of all these guns.

Rob Miller

We Love shooting the 380’s just because they are soooo cool. Yes they haven’t been out in a while because of lack of resupply. Just might have to take em out this weekend after seeing this video. “Shoot em if you got em” I guess.

Cory Risseeuw

Well the PDP might be too big for 007 to conceal. True the stuff he does with a PPK is not really possible in real life, or with any 380 for that matter. But it is a movie. All movies are woke. That is why I don't watch them anymore.

Clint Raby

Bought a Bersa Thunder about 20 years ago because I thought it looked like a PPK, it has been a good gun. Still have it but don't shoot it much anymore. Would love to have a PPK!

Paul Kwiatkowski

I bought a new stainless PPK at an auction for $500 a few years ago, few people like shooting it, but it shoots well at the range, can’t bring myself to sell it.

Hal Blackmore

Had a PPK. It was a very accurate little pistol but way too heavy for a CCW at 21 oz. and only 6 + 1 .380.

hoplite ⚔️

Nice one! Now I have to carve out some time to get to the range!

Joshua Pulliam

Same. I’m hoping to stop at the public range on my way home today and put some rounds through it.

robert mccrory

women are not funny they are only hot. maybe womn should remake stripes and just make me loose all hope for society

Racing Psychosis

Something like a Ruger LCP2, makes imo the PPK a dinosaur.

John Krywy

I have a C&R Manurhin PP in .32… which has no import marks and is in functional condition. Deburred it and planning on nickel plating it… and maybe threading the barrel to run my Odessa-9. While I get the stainless sight issue, behind a black can should make it standout. New ones, I was thinking about a .22 for suppressing, but have one of those Beretta Bobcat Covert pistols. If I do the threading on the .32… I definitely won’t get the .22. For .380, not that interested. I have an original Ruger LCP… but my 9mm S&W 642-1 or SIG P938 works great in a more available round (issued 9mm, and we do get extra from time to time).

hoplite ⚔️

Hope you got to the range AND had a fun time with the new toy!

Jesse

I definitely have a second cool for the PPK, because of its history and 007. I want eventually add one to my collection, but don’t feel the immediate need because I have a P64 (the Polish version of the Makarov) that also fulfills that form and fit function as well as a second cool. As for Bond only having a PPK, I remember as a kid when Tomorrow Never Dies came out and was upset about the new gun, granted I knew nothing about guns at the time, but it was so iconic that something seemed missing in the movie. That being said, I agree with you Nutn’ I would like to see Bond adopt a modern PDW. There are a lot of options and it reminds me of the second John Wick movie where the gun dealer shows Wick the “Austrian Models.” I mean if Bond can change his watch from a Seamaster to an Aquatera he should be able to change his PDW. As for the future of the franchise. I think I know what their plan is. They used Casio Royal to create a new Bond canon and create a separate origin story and arc for Bond. That’s why he never references his wife in Craig’s movies or why they were able to kill off Felix. I think they will do this going forward, every Bond will be a series of movies self contained by the actor portraying him. I am not sure how fast they will go to destroy the franchise because there was massive backlash over just giving the job title to a woman. Granted in the entire movie he totally makes his replacement look like an amateur. So there were “woke” moments, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. I do fear going forward with this new formula that they will try to change Bond and ruin it.

Stan White

I have loved James bond since a kid finally was able to pick up a ppk for the collection. It's a Smith&Wesson recalled version :( but I haven't had any problems and the price was right. I agree a ppk makes no sense as a primary or a back up. I am also worried that the next james bond film series will be garbage.

Bluegill097

Well since the new Bond will definitely be a female and the character is going to be completely emasculated… sure give her a different gun lol. But I am definitely one of those purest fans who needs Bond to make those magic shots with his PPK. Makes the movie for me. Three things I want to see: his watch, his ppk, and his arm candy. I think some of the classic aspects of Bond is that he is the only one who could kick ass with a .380…. Yes it’s unrealistic but Idk call me crazy

Jerome J

I bought a Bersa Thunder in 380 after watching your review and I have a bunch (not tons) of 380 ammo. I am tempted to pick up a PPK for sure. It’s just cool.

Jason Boyles

.380 is available online, but at .60 a round in 1000rnd cases. Ouch!

Pedro

I held a new one at the gun store. Talk about fit and finish. The slide pulled back so easily it felt like it was riding on ceramic ball bearings.

Pedro

You’ll love the 5 inch PPQ. I love mine.

hoplite ⚔️

Hahaha the description starts off with “Updated ranting”

Jordan Parker

Nutn, I disagree - for all of the reasons you mention, the PPK is a perfect sidearm for Bond. Given the classiness Bond exudes along with the classic lines of the PPK, it fits. With the absurdity of the other gadgets Bond gets from Q, in particular the car mods (e.g. a car/submarine in The Spy Who Loved Me), the PPK fits and is not wildly out of place.

Derek W Tiller

i concur, the ppk is ridiculous as the primary gun of 007. bugs the crap out of me. watching him down a helicopter from 200 yards from a moving boat with one was one of the most laughable moments in bond history.

Im Brooks

I'd llike to see him with a Sig p356 xl spectre , golden trigger and tricked out slide

Zach

Sgammo.com has 380

Nathan P Hubsch

I carry a Makarov for second cool and it gets a 3/4" group at 10 yards, so it's actually a great little gun.

Gilberto Esquivel

Talking about James Bond going woke! I just came back from that stupid Liam Neeson Blacklight movie...I don't know how they did it, but the plot is about Anti-Government goons AGAINST WOKEISM...huh? Save your money guys...

Jarrod Hessel

I love the PPK. Strictly for second cool. I wouldn’t carry it but I would love to have one to take out and play with on occasion.

Kyle Fiss

I love carrying me interarms PPK. I hunted along time to find one without the extended beaver tail. The extension ruins the lines of the gun. Like a ridiculous after market rear spoiler afixed to the trunk of a classic car. I carried it for years, still do sometimes, its not the most "fuel" efficient, light weight, or user friendly. But neither is an old car, They often handle poorly, terrible fuel economy and can usually be outrun by a Camry. Sometimes I just want to strap on something classy and cool that demands as much competence out of me as I do of it.

John

I like the PPK for Bond.

Daniel Herb

I love my PPK/s! Its not a gun I carry in a system, but just the nostalgia and 007 cool factor is enough for anyone to have one in their collection. I would love to get a blue'd version as well. Maybe one in 22LR as well....

hoplite ⚔️

Just watched that Bond movie. Really enjoyed it. I especially liked Paloma’s plunging neckline and twin machine guns..

Jesse (Sphinx)

I've always liked these and would pick one up just for second cool. Might even carry it sometimes (.380 isn't much worse than 38 Special and I'll carry that).
