Sure you got some flashlights, but how prepared are you for 'house lighting' when the power dies? And it will die. Here I take you to my haunted cabin for testing of 4 great LED Lantern options. It's a shootout.

Seen here will be the Tough Light LED Rechargeable Lantern,  Goal Zero Lighthouse 600, LE LED 1000 Lumen rechargeable lantern, and the Olight Olantern.  I'll cover their UIs, throw, durability, function, value, recharge options, with some POU thrown in.

These are priced fairly for the amount of value and versatility they provide and there's not a loser in the bunch. Get them if you need them (use my links below) b. supply chain problems may mean they sell out and don't come back. TNP Donors said they wanted more camping gadget reviews, here's the first round. You can thank them for the video!

Super cool topic! Looking forward to this. PS: I totally support the updated review of the pf9. I still carry mine sometimes!

Bernal

👍

Rob Miller

Great topic idea. Its something I haven’t really considered updating since I’m stuck in the old ways with the dual mantle Colemans from the 70’s. Might be time to update this system!!

TheOlsonOutfit

I was literally just setting a tent up in the backyard for my granddaughter and wishing I had an LED lantern.

Christopher B.

The Colemans are great. Just don't use them inside a tent, as I'm sure you already know. I used to work at a personal injury law office. I'll spare you the details but, they are extremely dangerous if used in an enclosed area like a tent.

Rob Miller

Copy that. We just used them for the general camp site on Scout trips. By the time this dad hits the tent…I’m so tired I just fall asleep.

Christopher B.

That Tough Light with the red LED looks great. I predict the OD Green "mud" color will shoot up to $89 or just sell out from TNP traffic in about 12 hours

Seth

Ok, I know it is not a Lantern. But I really think the Obulb is the best option. I know has only 55 to 75 Lumens on high with about 3 hour run time and 3.5 lumens on low for 7 hours. but it is 2 oz. I have used them during a power outage and they work great on low. In a dark house middle of winter. Pulled thru. Nutnfancy, If you would like one please let me know. Would donate to the cause. They normally run around 20 to 40 dollars. Watch for the sells and get them for free.

Racing Psychosis

Probably will get a couple of those LE's for the Racing trailer, never enough lamps at the track.

Todd Strelka

If you can't choose one, get two. Two is one and one is none, ha ha. They are all great lights. I have the small Streamlight LED lantern and I love it. It takes a few AA batteries. I should get a new lantern that's rechargable soon. For indoors I like the warm 3000k light. I only use 6000k light in the garage or headlights for the vehicle.

Boone Mill Farm

I’m all in with the olight olantern. I have 9. Don’t care for the newer olight lanterns but I do have 4 obulbs and they are OKish. The Goal Zero Lanterns interest me, it’s new to me and I’m going to give them a peak. Thanks for the effort and the info.

Boone Mill Farm

I have 4 obulbs and like them too. But I use them in bathrooms and pantry’s and our walk in closet. Short term use and they are great. They would be an outstanding tent light. And I want one to keep in my truck for whatever. These silly types of things grow on you and you just need more and more. Have a great day.

Chris carr

Now I want another lantern lol which I have many. I run dewalts for work and my dewalt lights were my favorite during the last power outage.

Paul Griech

i have the olight new lantern i love it for how small it is and the green light only activated when there’s movement to help you locate! my opinion is go with the olight you already use there lights it’s should be pretty simple to charge carrying other olight cords it’s a backpack backup light for me

Nathan P Hubsch

Would be great on a boat for night fishing. For power outages in a home based system, I'm going to a backup power station that can power more stuff or a different light for longer. That lighthouse is awesome.

Nathan P Hubsch

I'm also tempted to get like 10 Olight Baton 3's and run them on moonlight mode. If all had separate charging cases, that'd be a year of constant runtime, lol.

The Nutnfancy Project

"If you can't choose one, get two. Two is one and one is none, ha ha." So true! Thanks for the input on the warmth of the LEDs; helps me know what you guys like.

Brad Fegan

The Goal Zero is my number 1 pick for likes but, the Olight is interesting. I probably go with Olight first. Just because of its smaller size. I like the review and comparison.

The Nutnfancy Project

They are so good to have. I'm happy to see guys here stocked up. With the affordability of these, good to have a bunch in your systems.

Jeremy doblinger

Does o light sell that snap on torch deal for the s2? I NEED dude!

Anthony Schaad

Love this type of content Nutn!! Course I’m big on outdoors/camping soo heck yea! Prob gonna get the LE and I really like the GoalZero… multiple power sources are definitely a plus. I bought a Coleman lantern last year before a few camping excursions (same size as LE) and it’s alright… wouldn’t want to drop it from a huge peak, hard plastic lense and it only runs on D batteries but it’s not bad when u look at price:run time ratio ! Awesome gear content Nutn keep them coming lol !

Bravo

Awesome! My power actually went out yesterday no joke and we had to get generators up and running. And I’m the only prepper (if you will) in my family and my Olight are What got the job done and Illuminated the house for about 4 or maybe 5 hours (my EDC S2R baton and my Warrior pro which I keep stashed in my room or on my desk. Third are a must buy for me. They will save us much grief. Keep em rippin Nutn!

Skylar Hobbs

The new olight lantern is very impressive. I also really enjoy the obulb that olight does. They are amazing. Paired with there 4 bank chargers I keep them in my cargo camper conversion and in rooms around my house, very budget friendly and very impressive. I live in northern utah and camping this last November in 20 degree weather those little o bulbs lasted the night and have the magnetic base and come with a double sided sticky metal base plate that will adhere to any clean surface. I like to have the ability to stick them wherever. Check those out. I also keep some in my 790 adventure bike for off bike camping because of size and weight constraints. Thanks for the review!

Seth

I have to say we have like 30 of them. We decked the Christmas tree out in them this last year. My Kids use them daily. I also keep a few in each vehicle I own as they make a nice flash red light in an emergency. I am also gifting them to friends, family, and little kids. Best Kids night light ever.

david rockwell

Sincere appreciation for the cogent and prescient review. I sent a couple of Goal Zero Lighthouses to family members that eschew any serious disaster prepping. With these lights, at least they will be able to assess what is not there. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.

Stan White

Awsome content continues, I love it

hoplite ⚔️

I bought a pile of them for family this Xmas. Big hit. My kids had them going for our NYE dance party!

hoplite ⚔️

The diffuser? I want that too. Nutn you got a hook up for those?

Casey Jones

I was thinking about a lanterns review a couple weeks ago but wasn’t sure if that’d be something you were interested in. I bought the LE lantern with the D batteries about 2 years ago and I’ve already used them during power outages 3x. The battery life is very good. My daughters have played with them and left them on for hours and I’m still using the 1st set of batteries. They provide ample light in rooms whether it’s the living room or the bathroom so you can function. Thanks for the review Nutn. I’m very interested in the spaceship with the hand crank.

hoplite ⚔️

dope video, very practical - we all need lantern action. Thanks for the reminder.

Brandon Hutchins

Love the video idea something I hadn’t really thought to much about, now I will.

Downtrodden

Not the video I wanted (Yeah, yeah Nutn, more gun videos…shut up Beavis) but a much more practical video that we needed. The theatrics broke up what could be dry content. A little Blair Witch parody would have been funny. TD in the corner would have killed it. Goal Zero Lighthouse on the way.

Matthew Sinn

I agree. He sold me on the Lighthouse as well.

Porter3861

Pair of LE LEDs are on the way! While I have a “Lights Out” system for personal illumination & device charging I am lacking area illumination. These will be an excellent addition to my system. Great video & thank you for the content. My son & I are both Patreon members. (And that way we can talk about your reviews!)

GarageJim_RMB

Well Done, though well stocked with solar powered lanterns of may different varieties of use. I enjoyed your reviews and will be adding a couple to my "at home/road trip" kits. 2 is 1 and 1 is none. The Goal Zero would be my light of choice, favorite feature being its ability to "crank to charge".

Downtrodden

Totally reminded me of the 2011 ice storm that took out our electricity for 6 days. I happen to have a couple solar garden lights that became the MVP of my home adventure. Free to charge and made just enough light to add some comfort.

Red dog 1

Loved the video nutn. I have had several goal zero products over the years. My opinion is they are cheap and break easily. I don’t think their batteries hold charges after a little use. Your Milage may very

Shadeslinger

Great vid. I was looking at the Olanterns back when they released but these comp options look good too

Iowa Dave

Thanks for the video. My personal approach is to go with the cheap 2 or 3 packs of LED lanterns sold at Costco. The brands vary over time. They are only about $10 each, so I have afford to have one in every room of the house for power outages. I haven't had one break yet in light duty use indoors during power outages or when I have the power turned off for installing a light fixture or other such needs.

Antwon Harris

We still have a bunch of my great grandma's kerosene lanterns. I have been looking at these lanterns since Hurricane Michael slapped us though.

Gregory Hines

Question about your Olights. I have a couple of handhelds and my rifle light they have the same charger. I also have one of their compact weapon lights, which has the opposite polarity of its charger, so you have to have that cable. Have you seen this?

Lon N

Yep, the PL mini has it's own unique charger. A spare charger is a good idea.

Downtrodden

Just used the Lighthouse tonight in a storage facility and it freakin rocked. I think I’ll be getting another one.

Kinoons

I’m invested into the ryobi series of home tools, so that’s the direction I went. A flashlight, a lantern, a set of puck lights, a big 6 port multi charger, home solar with a battery, and a goal zero yeti 400 and a 100w panel. Gonna keep the lights on.

Cory Howell

For hanging in the tent trying to get sleepy I like yellow color of light. For actually seeing in the dark skinning a deer or camp stuff the bright white all the way.

Matthew LINY

Ya say, lights yep covered that years ago, then you check the system and realize a toddler carrying a 1000 lumen flashlight is not ideal, and the next thing you know two led lanterns show up on the doorstep.. TNP

Lynn E Fite, Col (r)

Great review on an item no one really reviews or recents different options. The Ground Zero coupled with their roll-up solar panel would provide you a complete system

Daniel Herb

Its cool to see a bunch of options, but I mostly use Olight stuff :)
