Requested by many, here's the full review of the KE Arms KP15 What Would Stoner Do (WWSD) rifle...wow, that's a long name.

Anywho all the shooting is done, opinions are formed, and TacticalDoodle and I attack the review Bunker Style. As I understand it, this was a highly hyped AR by certain entities that I've never watched and never will. It's an interesting concept that captured the imaginations of many and some proclaimed this to be the best AR in the world. What do we say? We say wait for the Nutnfancy review before buying large ticket items so you don't get ass blasted.

It gets a fair shake like all products do, no matter the source. But the WWSD carries a normal price tag of $1700 which is insane for a polymer AR. We talk a lot about this with some fun along the way. With that pricing, with a big chunk going to its collaborators no doubt, this gun has some serious competition. You'll see how it holds up here.  That sound you hear is people selling off their WWSDs AR before this TNP review gets spread.

Lots of shooting, lots of fun. The WWSD review happens now.

Cranking out the videos strong Sir. Love it, thank you.

The Nutnfancy Project

You know it Robert. I do try to work hard for ya'll, keep the value of you being here high ;-)

Vince Torres

Awesome video. No b.s., all fact. Rocking gear reviews for over a decade. And giving your audience some humor along the way. Damn straight. Thank you sir

Mike R

It’s not my gun, but I’ll call dibs on it if the owner doesn’t claim it. Cause it’s too expensive for what it is so I’d never buy one, but I’ll take one for free. Haha

Downtrodden

WWHJDD? Hacksaw Jim Duggan wouldn’t be caught dead without a 2x4. Pine, spruce or Douglas fir…as long as it’s not polymer or carbon fiber. Hoooo!

John Krywy

I picked up one of those lowers when they first came out… stripped was under $100 (came out even lower since I have an FFL-03). KE Arms basic parts kit was good to go. Got a DoubleStar lightweight upper and a decent BCG… just to get it together (was going to be placed in a locker at work due to poor management decisions). Happy with it, but eventually want to build an upper from scratch (no forward assist, lighter forend). Carbon fiber… sure it’s light, but I don’t need to spend $1,050 just on the upper.

Iowa Dave

It is interesting that Brownell's is advertising this as WWSD, because they are also advertising their BRN-180 line (a modernized version of Stoner's AR-18/AR-180 from the 60's) as WWSD. The BRN-180 is a piston gun with no buffer tube so you can use a folding stock and fire it folded. They sell it as an upper that you can drop on to any AR-15 lower. See more here: https://www.brownells.com/.aspx/bapid=700/ClientPage/brownells-brn-180#:~:text=Fits%20Mil%2DSpec%20AR%2D15,bolt%20run%20cool%20and%20clean If you happen to be passing through Iowa on I-80, a stop at the awesome Brownell's retail store is a must. They have a massive selection of guns and optics that are displayed out in the open on the floor where you can handle them without the assistance of an employee. It is right next to the interstate at exit 182.

Donnie Graham

Watching this as SOON as I have time. I'm thinking you guys' take on this this will be very similar to mine when I saw this come out. Thanks for continuing to put out quality content Nutn.

Ben H.

Looks like a "add to cart" rifle of mixed parts. And 1700 with poly lower?

Tim Bone

Great review! Keep 'em honest Nutn. Is it me or has there been a lot more BS and needless hype in the gun community the last couple years? 😡

Hold Fast Joe

I've actually seen one of these at my local range a few times. It seemed reliable for him but I am pretty sure he was not using steel ammo. Accuracy wise I can't really say. His groups were pretty big but he was happy with them. I'm estimating here maybe 5 inches at 100 yards. He was shooting off concrete table, I wouldn't have been happy but I'm glad he was! Thanks for the review! That's a lot of slop between upper and lower. Glad I never got sucked in. I'm not a pencil barrel expert but I do have a ballistic advantage upper with their stainless steel 18" in it and it's good. It's not great but it's not bad enough I want to sell it. I put it in the 1.5moa range

IndianaBen

Never had any interest in this project either. The final package and price is especially uninteresting, and I'm not even sure some of the chosen components are consistent with the WWSD concept anyway. Keeping it real at the same time, there's really nothing wrong with the price. Add up all the individual components and some reasonable margin. It's not obnoxious, most of us just aren't interested. I'm calling BS on the A2 flash hider complaint. They could've added a wacky device, priced $75 more, and it would've passed the review without a blink of an eye, because it would've been appropriate/value for the price. You can't have it both ways. But I'll go a step further and say with impunity: the A2 is a better value anyway. I've gone up and over this curve, now replacing a lot of expensive devices with A2s. BCM, SOLGW, FCD, are just a few highly respected brands who openly embrace the A2 for good reason.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks Tim. Yes lots of BS out there in gun community. It's been that way the whole time I've done TNP. Gun guys are funny: they always latch on to what is new and hyped, then realize it's not that great, sell it, and then despise it. That's the cycle. Remember when I defended the DI AR as NOT broken? I caught lots of flak in 2010 over that!

The Nutnfancy Project

" I put it in the 1.5moa range " Yes. That's classified as normal to good AR accuracy. Thanks for the support here always HFJ.

Shadeslinger

I see no reason to buy any off the shelf AR and haven’t for years now. The pricing alone with a lot of them pales to what you can build yourself especially if you’re patient for sales on parts. Even buying separate complete lowers and uppers to pin together is a better value. The only legit reason I could see to buy a complete AR is the warranty or if it has all the parts you’d be satisfied with out of box. Just my .02.

Joooosh

You forgot to mention they have a free coffee bar and sparkly clean bathrooms. I bring these facts up to my wife every time we pass by as an excuse to stop in a check out the goods. lol

PHILLIP DOUBLE U

I built a similar rifle in 2018 using a GWACS Armory lower before KE arms had theirs out. Mine has a BCM M-lock KMR rail on it sine I like the slim form factor. It’s topped off with a Leupold 2x light weight scope and Aero scope mount. Total weight 6.5 pounds with sling and empty mag. Accuracy is standard. No issues with reliability.

Rho

I purchased a mil spec lower on pre order. Before there was a price hike on all WWSD iterations. It looks like KE is selling this thing in parts now. It I’m sure they have some price match thing going on with Brownells. It’s ok. Not 1700 ok. But I could understand a custom build with the lower.

Cyborg009

When are you going to put out your review on the 2A Arms gun? It's already made several cameo appearances.

James Young

Agreed, building is better than buying for many reasons: cheaper (if building more than one), better parts, more personalized parts, you know how your gun works inside and out, and you know how to make future improvements to everything on it.

James Young

I'm looking forward to that review too. Looks like a great gun

Cyborg009

I bought one last year on Nutn’s recommendation so I want everyone to know how awesome it is.

Ol Retired Fed

WWSD. WHY WOULD I SPEND DOLLARS on this? At the start I was mildly interested, now NO WAY DUDE. Sorry for all the caps, I can't get it to type in bold.

Tim Bone

Ha! Do you remember Short-Stroke Piston AR's...and Big Daddy Unlimited...and .300 Blackout? Pepperidge Farm remembers...

BadgerTails

IDK, sounds like there's more hype than howitzer. Just 4 giggles I picked up a Colt CSR-15 some years ago when their TX custom shop put them out. Light, accurate AF, just plop down the Holosun and crazy accurate. $1700? Wow....

Michael McAtee

Thanks so much for the review I requested this one!

Beck

I would buy the lower itself

The Nutnfancy Project

I still will criticize the A2 choice big time; it's a bargain basement choice. It doesn't compensate at all and does little in flash suppression. I think it's an overall indicator on the overblown price/low value equation on the WWSD. I won't play the WWSD game because it's silly; just a marketed ploy. But with amazing tech in carbine structure, most born from 3 gun competitors, this gun falls a bit short.

Austin Cobb

I’m gonna pass on the blue mag, but more power to you! Glad you got to review the wwsd.

Ryan Reese

Very fun review! The design was a super cool concept for these WWSD rifles but I completely agree with the lack of value. I think a lot of people had they’re hands in the pot when it came to the R&D and they all wanted their cut. Production delays with COVID only complicated things more. If people go out and buy them then good for creators. But to me, the design does not justify the price. I had the itch to try one of these KP-15 lowers and I jumped on one when they were around $110. Threw in a cheap lower pets kit and paired it with a PSA dissipator upper. The build came in less than $500 and it’s a fun alternative in my collection. I’ll hold on to mine for a long time but I’m not trying to convince anyone that it’s the future of ARs.

Gilberto Esquivel

Hmm...Let's see...WWSD? 1. Lightweight 2. Plastic 3. Pedestrian accuracy 4. Overhyped 5. Can't feed shit ammo 6..Overpriced ...WWSD?.....Apparently by these standards?? A Keltec SU-16...

rjw

Looks like this rifle has the Faxon barrel based on the gas block, tiny roll pin mounting barrel to gas block, twist rate and writing on the barrel. $1700 and they use a Faxon barrel? The price point on this rifle is a no go. No thanks!

Mason Monroe McElroy

I got one of the blemished complete lowers Brownells had for sale a while back. I'm going to try it out with one of my home built light-weight uppers. I can't see paying $1700 for the rifle, even if carbon fiber hand guards are expensive.

“Milk Man” Matt Moore

They have been on sale lately for $1499. I really like the idea of this rifle, but I refuse to compromise on reliability with various types of mags & ammo. Also I really don’t care much for ambi controls. Thanks for the great honest review.

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

Finally, a comment sense review. This rifle is the result of a giant gun-tuber circle jerk; it's dumb. If this was stoner's baby, he'd have an abortion. For the money I'd buy a bcm recce 16 KMR-A or the KMR-A lightweight.

Phillip Robinette McKracken

I'll never forget that time I wizdeed'd at a gas station, and then realized there were no towels. My rifles are "what would stoner buy for 40$ and put together, in a gas station bathroom, and still get really repeatable groups"

Thomas C Heston Jr

Thanks for the review. Heard about this project a while ago, wondered how it came out. At least they made the effort. Take the good from it and go forward! Happy 4th!! God Bless America!!!!......Please!

Carl Bailey

If he doesn't claim it you can send it to me. I'll ditch the lower and use the parts in a stripped Anderson lower, add a grip and cheapo stock. It would likely improve it.

ETL

Please sign the 2x4 and ship it to me!

Idan Sicard

I may be in the minority here, but here it goes. I wish that companies would offer a model that will cycle steel reliably (with the larger gas port) and one that has the smaller port for just running standard full power 556. I'm not trying to sound snooty but I don't love that everything comes over-gassed to make sure if will fire lower-powered steel.

Joshua Mount

Well if you shoot mid length there is 2 different gas port sizes that companies use. Carbine length and rifle length have a mil spec standard port size. Mid length gas port can be drilled to .078 or .081 I find that the .081 is slightly undergassed and the .078 size will run pretty much anything and it's still quite smooth.

TRJ

Another reason to build is you minimize the tax you give to the .gov. Your only paying tax on the stripped lower that the manufacturer works into the cost instead of the whole gun. 11% tax with Pittman-Robertson Act.

TRJ

One comment I will add is regarding accuracy. I have built guns on both Faxon and Ballistic Advantage barrels. None had accuracy this poor. Not even close. Anywhere between 1.5-1 MOA and one had few occasions with match bullets, sub MOA. Hard to know what happened if anything to the bore before you got it.

Logan Holmberg

Isn't a lot of the cost on this from the carbon fiber barrel shroud/hand guard? I think they are also selling it with other cheaper options are they not? I thought it was pretty interesting except for the price but I thought they had also said you can save money by getting some value optioned options that where not quit as light.

Logan Holmberg

As I'm watching this I'm wearing a citizen Skymaster A-T. Snowbirds edition. I used to work in the Engineering department on the base in MooseJaw where the Snowbirds are based out of. I love the team. On my breaks, I would sneak out and watch their take-offs and landings when I could. I had to have the watch when I found out it existed. I'm digging its features and the unique color scheme.

Josh P.

Built an AR in 2020 for hunting. Ballistic adv. 20” heavy barrel, 80% lower, Timney trigger, and a cheep aluminum guard, and a magpul stock. With a scope on it it’s 8ish lbs. Cost me 650-700 total and it shoots 3/4” groups @100. And shoots every ammo I’ve fed it and haven’t had any malfunctions. Can’t see the hype of 1000$+ ARs that arent accurate and won’t feed steel. Crazy. Thanks Nutn for the solid stance as usual. Keep doin your stuff. God Bless.

Red dog 1

I have a faxon pencil barrel on a build. I have great accuracy out of it.

Tim Talbot

One thing I'm interested in knowing is just exactly how much weight is saved by using a polymer lower? It's not like aluminum is actually heavy.

Andrew Morris

I sent a DM for a GRV that I’d send out to the project for you Nutn

hoplite ⚔️

Hot. I love the ladies makeup brush at the end too.

redpaw 527

Thanks for this review I was considering buying it someday when i had the $ lying around, since this video I've changed my mind. Thank you Nutn I hope you make videos like this forever.

Nathan P Hubsch

At that price I start looking at BCM or POF. I like the carbon fiber, but I don't like the lower. If I could get just the upper for $800, maybe.

Jesse (Sphinx)

Two things: (1) The 2x4 on rack behind you (2) "even if you told me to keep this gun, I'd ship it back to you". Love it.

Christopher Olsem

The WWSD didn't start as a complete rifle, rather a build list they thought Stoner would build. Enough people had interest in their build...but didnt want to build it...they made a rifle. Dont like it? Build your own and edit it as you see fit. Personally, I'd like to see a TNP WWSD. 🙂
