We'll go back in the TNP Time Machine for this one. You see, Saiga 12 shotguns were featured regularly early in the Project. Some ran good but most didn't. They needed a lot of fussing and tuning to "get them right." I never bought one and never wanted to. Instead I focused on reliable auto options from Remington, Benelli, Stoeger, FN, etc. Those reviews still stand!

But this Kalishnakov USA 12 gauge AK might break that cycle. I got it on loan from Gunnies the Great American Western Wear store. It goes on many desert outings to see if I can make it fail. Results shown.

Now it is still a mag feed semi auto shotgun and that brings its own attendant problems (briefing reminded here). But with its well thought out furniture, simplicity, and reliability this might be the AK shotgun I've always wanted (for dove hunting of course).

THE AK SHOTGUN THAT WORKS: Kalishnakov KS12

My buddies kalishnalov USA out of the box didn’t work. He sent it back for warranty and it was hit or miss. He sold it online lol I’ll stick to benelli-beretta-franchi and other well known tube feed

Rob Miller

Looking forward to this video. We got a lemon AK from them that shoots two separate alternating groups. They failed to help us after numerous emails and target pics over months. The C39 V2 runs circles around this lemon AK. Worried about the Quality Control gamble.

Harrison Nobles

Looks fun but i need a 3rd mag for dove hunting 😝

Paul Kwiatkowski

My VR-60 functions well, fun to shoot and is problem free, but I agree with the limitations, like loaded mags deforming shells.

The Nutnfancy Project

Yep those are bet your life reliable. I do talk about another KS12 in the video a guy had and he say his wasn't running

Harrison Nobles

I love that i wrote that comment before watching and you mention dove hunting a few times😂 great minds think alike.

Todd Strelka

That was a fun review video to watch. I'm glad it tested well with lots of data. I like how you said you "shot it way too much". Just like the old M&P15 MOE Magpul edition. I'd like to see the 20 rd drum tested too. The music at the end is also nice and catchy. Thanks for the hard work and entertainment!

Red dog 1

I don’t think you have ever showed us footage of you cleaning up after shooting. Good job, good Stewart

Hold Fast Joe

Very cool shotgun! I like it Great review, thanks!

Chris carr

I can contest, never reviewed one but I heard all your mini rants about them ages ago when I first got hooked on tnp. I too, really wanted one but you saved me on that lol.

Chris carr

Nutn will this work for my urban survival pigeon operator hunter?

Harold Galen McPheron

I got my Saiga for $250 dollars in 223 brand new in the box years ago.....

DisisSnake

SRM 1216 rotary mag shotgun!!

James Hood

Great review, but I still think this is a 2nd cool purchase.

Great Video Brother 👍 Proud to be a Patreon Member 😎

Great video: I will stick with my Franchi LAW 12, and my Stoger. Still saving for a Mossberg “9” series

Greg Malcom

I had a AR pattern 12 gauge (an Akdal made in Turkey). I thought it was so cool when i bought it. Took a tactical shotgun class with it and it was so unreliable i sold it. Don't regret it one bit.

The Nutnfancy Project

It is on the list. No one really watched it but I do like doing it here and there

Doug McGilvery

You are more than welcome my friend. I hope you have another meet & greet sometime. My wife and I went to your 1st one. I even got a few kisses from Allie and some great pics with you & Doodle too.

Plumber Angelo

For sure a cool gun! I’m not sure it beats the mossberg 930 or similar semi auto tube fed scatterguns. Those are good to go, with no fiddling required. Great review Nutn!

Brad Fegan

I am a yes on the 20 round drum magazine. Have to admit, the length on that 10 round makes me giggle.

Moe Mansour

"Lube that bolt up." Can we get that on a patch?

Robert Avery

Beretta 1301 next please 🙏 🙏 🙏

Seeker Keyl

Not bit by the shotgun bug (yet). I just don't have a need for it in my systems at the moment. Is there a combat shotgun POU vid out and I am missing it? In a civilian role, what use is there that a combat shotgun fills that, say, a rifle would not?

Downtrodden

“First guns you should buy” touches on the shotgun POU. I’m nearly to the point of adding a defensive shotgun. Went out to the desert over the weekend and my buddy brought his Maverick 88. My teenage son absolutely loved it but I have to remind him that those were just target loads. Next time I’ll buy a box of 00 buckshot to enlighten him.

david rockwell

The KS-12T and the 940 JM Pro have been on my self-loading snipe shotgun list for several months. Self-loading shotguns are superior to pump shotguns if a rogue snipe injures your support arm. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.

Shadeslinger

Cool gun, but I’ll take my Stoeger M3K any day. 👍

Jason Alexander

Hey buddy do you think the dove are wearing kevlar vests? You must be a bad shot if you need that high capacity magazine for hunting. Just take your double barrel and fire into the air. Oh and grilled dove are great wrapped in cheese and bacon.

Joshua Pulliam

I have a Moss 500 with the hunting barrel and tactical barrels. I keep it loaded with 00 Buck. But I have a couple other guns I’d way rather grab first. I’ve hunted with it, doves of course, and it does pretty good. Last time I kept having feeding issues. Most likely operator induced. So my father in law let me borrow his Browning Auto-5. Talk about a soft shooting 12 gauge!

Seeker Keyl

Thanks, dude. I'll have to revisit that one.

Craig Tabor

Holy shit! George Costanza?!

Jason Alexander

I bet you never knew that guy was such an avid dove hunter.

Stan White

I have never had any interest in mag fed shotguns idn why. I absolutely love shotguns especially tactical ones. But to be honest I have never used a mag fed shotgun

Josiah Fisher

Saiga 12 are Short stroke piston, they also make a 12-in comrade

“Milk Man” Matt Moore

I feel the exact same way. A mag tube works just fine and doesn’t hang way down. Shotgun mags are so bulky and heavy to carry…just doesn’t appeal to me. Never tried one. Maybe one day.

David Elkins

NuTn policing up his brass in the desert as always. U da man, too many do not. 👍

Jesse (Sphinx)

I have two combat shotguns. Good ole Winchester 1300 with side saddle ($200 ex-police gun) that runs 5+1 and a Tavor TS12 ($1300) that runs 16+1. All sorted and no awkward mags! TS-12 likes the expensive ammo though. (17 rds buck = flawless/ 17 rds low brass = couple stovepipes). TS-12 has adjustable gas system…I should try the other setting! Fun fact: the 65 MOA circle on an EO Tech on is the same as the buckshot spread on the TS-12 at 10 yards.

David Johnson

Can nutn or anyone else tell me who does The Rolling Stones cover at the end of this video? Sounds like Michael Hutchence… I remember that nutn had inxs on one of his car videos back in the day.
