Mr. Bill

I'll handle this one Nutn, take a break. Yes it is! I have 2, 9mm and 357sig with an extra 40s&w slide and barrel.

Joel Zera

I had a P220 back in the day. Loved that handgun, wish I never sold it.

Hold Fast Joe

Had a 226 but sold it after running it for about 6 months. It's a pistol that's too big for my baby hands lol It is an amazing pistol, I liked it a lot but I couldn't hit a bullseye for nothing. Pick up a Glock and no problem. Meh, what do ya do? If I had no choice I could compensate for terrible pulling the trigger because I can't hold it naturally and have to twist my hand around it to reach trigger, then twist other way to reach controls. It always worked though!! 100% Just not for girly hands Awesome series again, looking forward to more!!

Dan

I had a 226 awhile back. I enjoyed shooting it but not enough to keep it around. Great pistol though. When money is not such an issue I just may buy another.

Love this rate of video flow. Doing Reno’s on the house and love having fresh TNP material to listen to

The Nutnfancy Project

I wonder if the short reach trigger installed in your 226 would have solved the problem, quite possibly. Also the E2 narrowed grip is a remedy for that. Nevertheless you chose well with the Glock too HFJ

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks hoplite, I do post heavy during the holidays so you guys can escape family! Thanks to all here for the support!

Great for non-SAWC situations. Recently got a new OWB leather holster from Tagua gun leather for my 226. it also fits my 250's (TX-LOCK-R-OWB) I like the leather feel and look over my Kydex since I'm not in a GTW situation. Tried Hogue rubber grips but didn't find them to be an improvement over the stock ones.

It’s appreciated! BTW this reno (laundry room + hallway) is going to feature a BB pellet trap shooting target at about 7 yards!

Joel Spaulding

I love it! I had a stainless steel model in .40 S&W a long time ago. I loved the pistol, it was excellent quality, I loved the safety/de-cocker and the fact that it was a hammer fired pistol. Definitely GTW. My chief complaint is that mother was HEAVY and the fact it was in .40 didn’t help either.. If that’s what someone has in their system I respect it. However, in todays market there are so many other .40 SW pistols that are lighter and just as durable. Keep the IISA coming!

It was the P226 and P228 reviews that brought me to TNP so many years ago. I was basically looking for a "validate my purchase" review, which I got. Since that first E. German P226 I went on to buy an E2 P226, a P239, and an MK25. Then I bought an old beat up P228 carried by a NorCal LEO. A few years later I found a P227 on Armslist. The seller said I would get first dibs and a price reduction if I also bought the E2 grip M11 he had for sale... These last two are my favorites to shoot lately. That E2 grip makes the DA trigger pull much more manageable for my medium size hands.

james smith

Thank you for that Col. Nutanfancy! Old School (and present day) 1st kinda cool functionality and 2nd kinda cool Joy- Jim

Robert Avery

Content is flowing strong. Love it.

Christopher B.

The E2 and SRT absolutely make the P226 much more shootable for those with small hands. Hopefully HFJ can make it to a range and rent a SIG with those features one day.

Pistol Skillz👍

Michael Heatley

Such a great gun! I wish they made this in 10mm

Moe Mansour

I've been known to ditch gear to make room for skittles and chocolate. Just sayin' lol. Love this series.

Todd Strelka

Great gun. I shot my friend's Sig P226 years ago. Thanks for the video!

kylenor

Nice, I've always wanted a 226. I've shot my buddies 226 a few times. Now I see they've come out with a new version of the 226 xfive. I'd like to try one of those. I have a 320 xfive and it feels like I'm cheating when I take it to the range. Great content as always!

Lynn E Fite, Col (r)

Sig disease: My wife bought me a P226 when I Was Bn S3. It’s still in use. However I have added a P226R in 40 S&W and a P227. What can I say,I have the Sig disease.

duroSIG556R

I love my sig p226 combat. Even has a chrome lined barrel. What? yep. Got it for a decent price before Sig went full retard and jacked up their prices to insane levels.

Dean

E2 ftw!

maxmfs

Had a P226 with .40 S&W and .357 SIG barrels once upon a time. It never really did it for me. I found it too chunky, and the righty only control annoyed me. (I’m a lefty.) Great gun though. I remember the SEALs with their P226s and MP-5s, when they’d come to planning meetings while underway.

Thompson F Bechtel Jr

Totally agree. Take your choice P226R, P227, M11A1. Good advice but has cost this double owl.Could not be happier with these handguns. Tom

Patrick Richards

These “Is it still awesome” videos are so cool. Like reliving all the legendary TNP sig, glock, gear review videos from years past! I hope nutn does a lot of these!

STLParkRanger13 (IG: Sharpshooterjon)

Is it still awesome? Absolutely. My agency standard issue sidearm is the SIG P229R in .40 S&W. It's a laser, very reliable. To make a long story short, they function relatively reliably even without an ejector... Well, until you get to the last round in the magazine! Also own an early 90's P220. Love it!

Andrettski

I came across an exc. cond. German all chrome black grips on an auction that was ending in 8 minutes. I didn't have enough time to research the value. It sold for $835 and I've been kicking myself ever since. I still get to shoot my buddies in .40 S&W, love it.

fishlanding

oh yes, I bought one back in 1987 ? after going shooting with my brother who had one.... we still own them .... always reliable and didn't know what quality I was getting into at the time..... what beautiful landscape you have out west....

Nicolas Royston

I have a 229 Legion SAO. I love it! I've had glocks and other guns, but this is the only one that felt right and actually made me happy to own and shoot.

Harold Galen McPheron

Excellent video, I've always wanted a SIG but never could get the money right to get one...

Joshua Pulliam

I’d love to have a P226. Hopefully someday. My budget is still in the PSA Dagger range. I’ve not had the opportunity to shoot one yet, but I have shot a P227 and it was magical for me.

Aaron Carrington

You missed the perfect opportunity to say, “Do I do what the SEALS do? No. The SEALS do what I do.”

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

Its a 2nd cool gun but I'd never carry it as a GTW gun, not with lighter options out there.

Plumber Angelo

Absolutely love this series. Taking a look back at older firearms and judging them on current trends! Very entertaining Nutn!

BadgerTails

One of my Seniors ( An AF guy as well ) in an agency I was at pointed out to me one day....." Hey, there's a SIG LE/MIL 2 day AC coming up for the 2xx series pistols, you should go do that." Our agency didn't even run SIGs for primary carry Duty guns, but he was already a fan as well. I didn't have one at the time. Went to the course with it turned out to be, one of the SIG Icon Instructors, and a pool of frickin LE/SF people!? Found a used LE 226 after the course, and went to work; strip it down, new springs kit and voila. GunBroker to the rescue again, somebody was dumping a batch of (8) 226 mags with TUFF mag holders for less than $100?! Holy heck is right! Eventually threw in the SRT and just added an E2 grip kit last year (Thank You CDNN). No, it's not light, BUT it has a balance-in-hand. It runs like a tank. I'm a bigger dude so it's no factor for AIC, and I do. ISSA Drive on!

Matthew Larson

Thanks for another excellent vid, Nutn! Very much enjoying this video series! I got a p226E2 in .40 that was a police trade-in for a steal, especially considering it looked like it had never been used/shot. That was a few years ago, but I have just been really enjoying it since then, and will definitely be holding on to mine!

Jordan Parker

The P226 is iconic, love mine. Thanks Nutn!

EthanRX

Thanks for the video Nutn! I still rock my P229 Elite and love it.

Downtrodden

I love DA/SA hammer pistols. Always wanted a P226 but the favorite in our family is a HK P30. I’m fine with the “quirky” decocker. All the old school features but with a polymer grip.

Onewizeguy

Years back I paid $399 for a Coast Guard trade-in, P229 in .40 with 3 mags. Best gun purchase to date. The finish was 90%, zero signs of corrosion. I shoot it more consistently than any pistol I’ve owned. Heavy- yes. Carry-able - ehh, not so much. Excellent- yes!

Bluegill097

Never had one, never shot one, never even held one! And probably never will, still it I enjoyed the video and this new series!

Joshua Mount

I recently acquired a P226 as it's just one those guns you gotta check off the list. That being said I've have had a west German Sig P225 for years and years. Its basically single stack 226 and man does it feel good in your hands. The grip size is 1911ish which even though I got some big paws just feels right for me. Doesn't get used for anything anymore as it's more of a collectible like alot of my shit now. I managed to get some wood grips for it and it looks pimp daddy 👨. Are they still awesome yeah they are. It's old technology and yeah it's not lightweight and high speed but it can still do work.

cody white

Great vid , never owned one but finally shot one a air marshals pistol with XS sights and mid 90s new sights. The single & double action trigger 👌 just old mag needed changed out was feeding issues but dam fun hitting a 8” gong standing from 35 yrds

Dione Kollee

Speaking of the plate carrier you were wearing on this vid. You stated you had no ballistic protection. It’s better to have some sort of protection then be ass out. I know preparedness is something you stress frequently. You did a review in Botach Tactical & the 10/12 level 3 soft plates. I actually purchased a set after watching your review & I love these soft plates. They still stop anything up to a 44 mag. I know, it would be nice to have a plate stop a large rifle round. But, for the price you can’t beat Botachs level 3 soft plates. The prices were insanely affordable. It checks the box on Sawc & protection. I’ll send you the link. Only so you won’t have to dig through your archives. I pls on purchasing another set to stack behind my ceramic plates in my Spiritus Systems LV119 carrier setup. Not sure if you ever had the chance to dawn a spiritus plate carrier. I would liken it to wearing a tshirt. You don’t know it’s there. Range of motion is phenomenal. Customer service is A1 & they have a great warranty program. It’s a business owned by a couple retired armed forces boys & all I but are spiritus products. When you find something you work & it’s not broke, why fix it. Here I’ll send you the link https://botach.com/battlesteel-level-3a-10x12-flexible-armor-panels/

Eric Ohme

Awesome video! Just picked up my first Sig, a police turn in P220. Love it. You should do a review of the best hiking candy - that cracked me up, saving weight for Skittles. I am down with that.

Big50

Even though I’m a die hard 1911 guy, if I could have only one handgun, it’d be the P226. I’ve done time with the 75-B (& variants), Glock, XD, 365, wheelguns, & of course the venerable 1911. They’re all good & I like ‘em, heck even love ‘em. But here’s something magical about the P226 for me. It just feels like it’ll take on whatever s#it the world will throw at ya…and keep on going.

Dave Campbell

That’s the thing about time-tested pieces…they never lose their luster in most ways. In my personal opinion, it still looks damn gorgeous as well! I recently bought an elite 226, changed the E2 grips(didn’t like) to the sig magwell grips, bought mecgar +2 extensions for my mags…what a beast it is, and shoots like a dream with SRT trigger.

The Nutnfancy Project

" I have a 320 xfive and it feels like I'm cheating when I take it to the range" Nice. You'll like an upcoming desert shoot we did today, it's on the P320 M17

Powernoodle

I own a few of these "old school" Sigs, and while they were great guns back in the day, today they are mostly nostalgia guns and fun guns - which is totally cool. But there is no reason to haul around an extra 10 ounces on a daily basis unless you are just totally into it and are enjoying the experience.

Dalton

The p226 is timeless cool man 😎🐾🤙🇺🇸

Daniel Herb

Yes, it is still awesome!
