SOG Baton multi-tool did not make it in the market; we talk about why. It was a stylish MT with truly limited utility. But then we pivot to the "Powerpint" which is much better and worthy of you consideration. We also will discuss the interesting history of the Aliens movie APC, very fun. TacticalDoodle is here for this one!

Love the multi-tool content!

Good to see TD. I really like the form factor of the Q3 but I’m hesitant. However, there’s a better chance I’d carry a MT more often in this configuration.

I ground down the nubs on the cap lifter and can opener. Now they're functional flat head screwdrivers. SOG should have done this from factory. I'll post pics in the community tab if people want to see it. Also, as you mentioned, the file sucks. Basically useless. However, I bought a black one later on and the file was excellent. I wonder it they're doing the bead blasting after the file is cut. That would explain why the silver is dull and the black one is sharp. All in all it's an awesome tool and I carry it everyday. The pliers punch way above their weight in usefulness with the compound leverage. Would love to see SOG make some generational improvements on the file, cap lifter, etc.

I’ve been carrying a Powerpint for about 6 months. My overall take is that it’s a good alternative to the juice that’s actually available. It carrys easily (fits in the $10 leatherman small sheath from the juice). The toolset it good, but relatively low quality. It feels cheap compared to the juice, but for what I do day to day it gets the job done.

I've got a micro machines APC in the armoire next to the knives and watches. B'omarr Monk figurine and a mini golden idol from the first Indiana Jones movie too. Looking forward to this review boys.

Moe Mansour

Haha the mini golden Idol would be awesome. Didn't know they made one.

Thank you for the Aliens APC review. One of my favorite movies. If you find anything available like that please let us know. Wish Leatherman still made the juice 🧃

Very excited about this one! I jumped on the PowerPint the first time that you mentioned it about this time last year. Great addition to have in reach but it’s literally never replaced my Juice S2 in my EDC.

M

I literally used the song baton q4 for two years

M

Ive taken airplanes a part with it when no tools are available. Would TD sell his broken dreams for 60? Nutin is right on with pinching fingers with the slipping handles. Med duty mt for the convenience on light duty mt

David Elkins

But would you recommend it over the last of the juices that Leatherman still has in stock?

David Elkins

They actually have a couple of juices models in stock but they are the last that will ever be sold by them supposedly. They have shorter knife blades than originals so I think they were for export to Europe etc probably.

Still love my Skeletool. I carry a bit set with me all the time, super handy. I pair it with a Victorinox minichamp on my key chain.

Matthew Sinn

Man bring back the Juice. I bought my whole family one each some Christmases ago, and as far as I know all of us still carry them daily. Such a great design.

Saw that on the community page and snatched some up. Got a couple for the kids to grow into.

Matthew Sinn

Nutn, you kind of did it here, but I'd love to see head-to-head videos... maybe an extension of the IISA series. Here's an obvious failure, that validates the prior verdict. Here's a newcomer that actually supercedes the former champ. Pull something from 10 years ago out of its kit and put it to in field testing against a new example in the same category, and see which you'd put back in the kit.

Jake Haberman

I believe even without them in production the juice wins because I've scored 4 on eBay all under $60. 2 in very good but used shape, 1 that was practically new, and one as a beater or survival kit MT. I have a powerpint but still prefer the juice simply because of the quality. I still love the pint though.

The Nutnfancy Project

Agreed. PowerPint is a great little MT but not the same level as S2; I've carried one continuously the entire time of TNP

The Nutnfancy Project

Juice S reigns supreme, nothing's ever matched it. Look at its scissors, almost full size. "Man bring back the Juice." Yep

maxmfs

I carry a Juice S2 and Surefire T1A Titan every day in a pocket sheath. For me the Juice S2 is the perfect balance of size, weight, and functionality.

David Elkins

Wish I had an S2. But Letherman is selling a few “last ever” or whatever that means. Short blade versions of the CS4 and XE6 (probably intended for knife length legally restricted geographies). They are selling for $40 bucks right now at Letherman.com. Do you feel the same about the XE6 and CS4? I grabbed 2 XE6s primarily because it has a pretty good file. Was considering PowerPint before this surprising to me last release.

David Elkins

CS4 and XE6 versions, with shorter knife blades, are currently available on leatherman web page. No S2s sadly.

SOG Baton you been Q THREE'D...return to training school for better steel

Matthew Sinn

I carry the CS4, but I do use the corkscrew so I’m happy with having the extra option. Pretty sure it’s got a regular length knife though.

GrizzlyRising

The power pint is a good light duty multitool. I have one and it works pretty well, except that it's a little uneven.

Brian Driver

Nutn, check out the Nextool one-hand pocket knife/multitool. It seems to be lightweight and functional enough for EDC and affordable.
