There are some great .45 ACP combat pistols.  Add the Sig P227 to the list.  It improves upon the venerable and mostly loved Sig P220 by having more firepower.  10+1 or 14+1 Rounds to be exact.  That's a substantial improvement in this hard hitting cartridge.  The 10 round mag fits flush.  I have given a by for a 8 round mag in old fashioned guns like the 1911 but I am less apt to do so in a more modern design like the Sig.  As discussed, my affinity for the combat proven P226 carries over to the P227 and 2014 TNP testing showed identical, flawless performance.  In several POUs, the P227 will serve you well if your system SAWC permits .45 ACP integration.  The E2 ergos, size, weight, balance, feel, trigger, firepower, magazine modifications, durability, accuracy, and accessories are discussed with plenty of shooting footage shown to back up these conclusions.  Here we'll discuss all this again and see if after all these years it's still rec'd though discontinued by Sig! Another by request Is It Still Awesome video.

Yes! I can't wait to watch this later!

Aceman1126

Only thing I hate about the p226 p228 ect is that I never got a chance to snag one when they were affordable lmao! I have always loved them but just never managed to actually own one.

DudeDudeDude

LE trade ins were in the market just a few short years ago for less than the price of a new Glock. I realize that is not affordable to everyone but I suspect that is affordable to most that follow this channel.

Garrett

It’s a bummer they don’t make them anymore. I regret passing up on one for about $600 a few years ago.

Ian

You're spot on about .45acp. Shooting steel with friends and their 9mm, the .45 swings the plate where the 9 makes it shake a bit. It is just fun!

Ellis

Nice! Looking forward to watching this. I recently picked up a Glock 30SF, so I am looking forward to hearing some fresh .45acp talk. I’ve been digging through a lot of the older .45 and 10mm videos lately. 🤙🏾🤙🏾

Hold Fast Joe

Stoppages could be due to maybe all that grit from years ago lol Though you probably clean it just not around the grip? Those are big chunky rounds! Great review

Aceman1126

Saw some leo trades recently for 499 and by the time I clicked the email link and the page loaded they were gone 😭😭😭😭

Joseph

I’ve been waiting on this video!!!

I'll never sell my P227... ok maybe when I'm 90 years old. But, not before then. I've heard of some issues with the 14rd mags. That can be fixed with the addition of Wolff springs. Check the SIG forums for details. Just be sure to test your 14rd mags before you rely on them.

Joshua Mount

I never had a 227 but I have alot of the 9mm sigs like the 226, 225, 938. I enjoy the striker fired guns but sometimes I just like the feel of a all metal gun like a Sig, CZ75, 1911, or a wheel gun. To me personally they point and swing better not to mention feel better as well. Variety is the spice of life and I like the history and heritage some of them old guns have. Yeah they might not be the most economical now but your dad's got it done with them and they'll still do the job and serve you well.

Brian Driver

I like .40 for hiking. Because ammo companies have a tendency to download 10mm effectively making it a .40 anyway. Just my opinion.

Joshua Mount

Also I was watching Risky Chrisky and he referred to you as papa nutn and since you are basically the internet dad some of us wish we had. I now also refer to you as papa nutn now. Sorry

Nicolas Royston

My buddy and I don't have our sups yet for our .22's so we use electronic ears for whistle pigs. One, to hear the thwop on a successful hit, and two to hear the rattlesnakes. There were two within 10' of me the first spot I proned up. Another we were about 2' from stepping in the grass. Ruger vaquero with shot riding snake duty.

Rick Grad

Ball 45acp Sellier and Bellot was $14 a box $260 a case early 2019. Made a commitment to buy a case a month until I had 6 cases. Still have it, and now it’s nice having the stash. Not selling my 45s:)

Gerald King

nutnfancy thanks for all the videos you post its all ways fun to watch and learn

David Beard

I also push up on the slide stop lever and the same thing happens to me--still LOVE the pistol!

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks so much for saying so Gerald and you bet. You dudes here make it all happen

Joseph

.40 is a great choice for the size of the grip and weight of the gun, I 100% agree with you. In most cases, you are right. But in the cases of people actually facing bigger threats like bears, 10mm with buffalo bore would be served very well by a 10mm. Shoot it just enough to learn to handle it, and buy some good carry ammo. But, yes, 40 is best for most people like myself who isn’t normally around grizzlies. I just have a 10mm because of Nutnfancy’s g21/g20 double feature. I went out and bought both as recommended. Yeah moment of weakness

Dean

Its a tough call. Have to say 45 is my fav. But right now 45 is 33 cents a round and 556 is 43 cents. In the interest of self defense, both have places. I err on the 556.

JIMY

I was hoping you would tell guys they should totally sell their P227 so I could buy one. I love my P220 E2 with the SRT I put in.

David Spinks

Great video Señior Fancy! I bought a 227 a while back, per your recommendation. Mine came with 2x10 round mags, threaded barrel, and suppressor height siglite nightsights. Shoots great with a can, which is another reason for 45acp (all the ammo is subsonic basically, besides the small grain +P's potentially). Loved your commentary about .45 FMJ's. If I HAD to defend myself with a pistol and with FMJ, I'd likely choose .45acp or 124gr Nato 9mm depending on penetration requirements. I'm bummed that they discontinued the 227, and you can no longer buy the 14 rd magazines. I've read reports of problems with the 14 rounders though, so maybe they got tired of warranty requests.

Harold Galen McPheron

Fantastic review, love my 45 acp's, but still have a few 9's....

Paul Tooley

I’d love to see some more IISA videos, particularly the Keltec SU16 and the Glock 21.

Ben Wagner

I’d love to see more adventure videos with dogness.

BadgerTails

Yes, a guy in our DA's offices was getting out of his IPSC .45 kit and I bought out his everything; brass, powder, bullets, and a Caspian custom. G21/30/36, a HK usp45t, several 1911s. If Kel-Tec made a Sub2K in .45? Oh yeah. No, I don't have a 227 yet, the 1911Tacops has been 100% though. Great IISA!

Harddog

Funny Nutn switched to the 9, I was literally thinking, "I wonder if a 9 would punch through?" lol

Bluegill097

Really enjoying this series! Way to bring out the 9 for comparison. I've seen .45 rounds bounce off too many car doors in training for me to own anything other than a .45 plinker (which I do). Cool video thanks for the content flow!

Im Brooks

Great gun but my fav non 1911 45 is the CZ 97bd

Lynn E Fite, Col (r)

The 227 is more than a “hall of Framer.” It is a corner stone in 45 ACP. Love my 226, but the 227 brings a sledgehammer to the fight

Shawn Kuse

I sold my P220 about a year ago. Too big and it was only single stack. I have my G36, 30S, and my 1911's to continue the 45ACP trail. Still think the 10mm is the best caliber for EDC and home defense. Mostly carry my Smith 640 and Glock 43 now.

kylenor

I walked into a gun store years ago looking for a 226 and they had a 227 but I was dead set on 9mm so I didn't buy it. I didn't buy a 226 either because they didn't have one in stock. Side note: I love the production quality Nutn! I like how every video is different. It's not just the same thing every time with a different gun. Loving the IISAs!

Kyle Soucy

The 226/227 look has always been so hot to me. I’ll get one eventually.

DudeDudeDude

I do not know if you are talking about my screenname or not but I originally went with a homage to my favorite screenname and chose "determinate smell" but changed it because I did not want to plagiarize or confuse anyone into thinking I was someone that I am not.

Robert Harper

I had almost the same experience. My cousin had a steel plate that swings from one side to the other. 9mm would move it from side to side, but then I did 45acp, and it SLAPPED it from side to side. I own both, and each has a place, but I’ll never discount what the 45 brings to the table.

Joseph

I really hope sig brings this gun back, but I don’t see it happening. It would be great to be able to buy 14 round mags for it

Ian

agree. the round count benefits of 9 are undeniable. and the compactness of 380 is silly. even 22lr has it's place.

Ian

right before cheaper than dirt price gouging. using their points system each subsequent case was something like $225 to the door. not only one light pimer or other issue.

Porter3861

Awesome IISA video. Really enjoying the POU/caliber discussion. Thank you!

BadgerTails

IMHO, the G30 and 36 are Glock sleepers fo sure, love mine!

Andrettski

.45 POU, FUN and something different to shoot.

Seeker Keyl

Thanks for addressing the relevance of 45acp. I can understand the relevance from the perspective you mentioned. We'll see what the future holds for my arsenal. I did notice that during the pandemic, when 9mm was sold out everywhere, a lot of places still had 45acp at not entirely unreasonable prices.

Tim Bone

Awesome vid. A handgun from a more civilized age...

small axe

POU: You live in a jurisdiction that limits you to 10 rd magazines. Why not get the extra punch that 10 rds of .45 gives over 10 rds of 9 mm?

watchman5

Can you do a review on the FN545/FN510?
