As requested here's another review of my tried and proven motorcycle SAFETY gear. The KLIM Latitude is an amazingly high quality motorcycle jacket and pant. They have seen many years of hard use in TNP as shown in many of our posted moto adventures. Here I take you through all its features, construction, sizing, comfort, waterproofness, protective features, and more. Though a complete set is expensive I'll discuss some ways you can get them for less. A set of KLIM Latitude, if un-crashed, will last your entire lifetime of riding so it represents high value.

I would love to get into riding bikes. To do it right and be happy long-term with the bike though I'm looking at 15k all in just to get started (motorcycle, gear, gadgets, training) - even if I go used all around. My car needs that investment first, nevermind my other hobbies. That said I love in-depth reviews like this because it helps me know what to look for in other contexts. Ski gear is somewhat similar, for instance, when it comes to quality for warmth, durability, and features. Thanks much Nutn

Kim looks like really good quality. I'm not a moto guy, but I first heard about Klim from Heavy D Sparks videos.

WILLIAM MEYER

Just bought a pair of Latitude pants with full D3 armor for $225 used on AdvRider forum. They look brand new.

Green Mountain Boys

Have used Klim for years with my sleds, which usually sees them ending up as a utility snowsuit/workwear and they hold up really well. Unfortunately I ride a Harley on the road, so I'm contractually obligated to dress like a pirate while on my bike.

Good review!! I ride with Klim Latitude jacket and pants; for hot weather I use the Klim induction jacket with Klim riding jeans. I plan on purchasing the Induction pant, but; they seem to be always sold out in my size.

Wait a minute here, hold on. If I wear all this gear it'll cover my hello kitty tats. I'll lose all respect

Excellent timing. I'm looking at getting into motorcycles. I want to take a safety course from my local Harley dealer first. For a first bike I'm thinking something along the lines of the KLR 650, Vstrom 650 or 800, Yamaha Tenere 700... something like that. As an occupational safety professional I agree on your comment on high vis gear. 😁 I'd rather be safe.

Charles New

I've got 3 of the v strom 650's and have had 2 klr's , on a budget those are great bikes. Leaves more money for gear and it just depends on what riding your doing on which would be best, as i've gotten older, riding more 2 up and less single track i've moved to the v -stroms, i really like that they are fuel injected. I've go no experience with the tenere.

I have a Klim Apex Jacket, Dakar (1st Gen cause I’m OG) Pants, and Torent Overpants, amongst other gear. The Apex jacket has a low collar that’s not great for rain but it’s a solid jacket. Klim makes excellent gear. Most my gear tends to end up being black/dark so I try to go with a more visible helmet. I think a solid hi-viz, white, or silver helmet gives an impression to drivers that you are a fellow human being and that you take riding and safety seriously. That’s just my theory.

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

Well honestly I'd be mostly commuting on the highway or cruising around the countryside. I'd probably only take it off-roading a couple times a year like I do with my 4runner.

An ADV bike will always be the first and last bike in my garage. I also have an HD but speed bumps and rough roads suck! On my BMWs, I don’t care what the road looks like! I’m impressed with versatility of my friend’s Tenere 700. If I could only have one, that would be high on my list. I like the older BMWs because I’m comfortable working on them and they have a great reputation for longevity. However, the new BMWs have too much technology for my liking.

On serious note I'm not a biker but I actually watched this entire video. It was really interesting! You did a great job explaining and showing things

Joseph

Thank god, finally some content like this. TNP HARLEY RIDER HERE

Joseph

Don’t lie, your thinking about getting a HAWG

Kyle weyerbacher

Great video Nutn, I’ve worn Klim for more than a decade and had it on through a couple crashes. Always amazes me how the black doesn’t fade like cheaper jackets. Looks as good as the day I bought it. I like that they got rid of the Velcro on the cuffs. That always seams to wear out first in gloves and jackets.

BadgerTails

Assless chaps are a different kind of freedom?!

Hold Fast Joe

I had a shovel head years ago. It was fun for a summer. If I were to get a bike today I would likely get a used Honda shadow for cheap. This jacket and pants combo might get close to the cost of the bike! Haha

Downtrodden

That’s funny (think I’m obliged to say) Brother! I use a Klim jacket and a full faced helmet on my Road Glide. However, I may need to get a Simpson helmet because hawg riders get confused by a Shoei.

Hold Fast Joe

I hate how Harley treats their customers and way over charges for their bikes that need insane amount of maintenance. Try to buy a couple cases of oil and half dozen filters, they will refuse to sell them to you.

WILLIAM MEYER

Whites what I use too. Saw a dude on youtube do an extensive testing procedure to determine the most visible helmet (black, white, hiviz) and white won easily. Still have the video if your so inclined.

Andrettski

I owned a Shoei like 20 years ago, it was my favorite helmet that I've ever owned.

Green Mountain Boys

Ha... I run an Arai full face on my Dyna Fat Bob... confusion abounds

Oh ya, and the shark loans they peddle at dealerships is criminal. 6 year loan for a bike? Maybe longer? Ugh. Then pile on all the shirts, buckels, belts, boots, key chain, jackets, jewelry, all with the Harley name to advertise this guy has a bike that needs an oil change he can't do himself because if you do that warranty is gone.. they add all that crap on to the loan only another 5 bucks a month see? Sign here buddy! Part of the family now and we will clap for you! Yey! I would feel like an idiot if I bought a bike and I had 15 guys staring and clapping at me for signing a loan. Sorry ranting. I just don't like what Harley does. Give me a shadow and laugh, I'll pay cash Not assuming you took a $50k+ loan for yours, it just makes me mad what they sucker people into for their bikes

Downtrodden

Very valid rant! I bought a low mileage 16 Road Glide because I feel comfortable working on my own twin cam and need minimal dealer support.

Love the moto gear reviews! keep them coming please. My first coat was also the built. It's actually held up very very well, However Klim is absolutely my choice these days.

The Nutnfancy Project

Yeppers, really hard to find my sizes in all things KLIM so when I see it I have to jump on it. Glad you have the Latitude, well done Blair

The Nutnfancy Project

Agree. So glad you're getting into moto-ing. Such a rewarding way of life. And that's what it is. Once you integrate into your life and ride a lot, you'll be doing it all the time. Glad my timing was good on this. Spend the money on KLIM, worth it. BTW check eBay for used KLIM L. in your size! Charles New's comment is good too, he owns those Vstroms.

That looks like they do a nice job with the armor protection and the various mix of materials. I'm not really a fan of cordura on most jackets and suits, but then this looks to be done much better than the kart racing gear. Most of the karting suits and jackets that I see in cordura after accidents last about 5 feet on the asphalt and concrete when you are skidding across the track on your head and shoulders with the kart on top of you. Seen it a bunch of times and then there is fire and flame issues. A kart racer earlier this year was burned to death in an accident where his so-called abrasion resistant suit melted on his body in a big fireball from a ruptured fuel cell on the kart and a particular violent crash out east. I continue to wear heavy armored motorcycle leather jackets with heavy denim jeans, no K-1 driving suit shit, same as what I would where dirt racing. My kart a couple of weeks ago caught fire on track in a huge backfire out through the aircleaner of my 100cc Yamaha engine. My leather ate it well, just got warm. If that was a K-1 other kart suit, I would probably be in the burn ward.

Racing Psychosis

EVO's were pretty bullet proof. I have buddies that do their own labor and have 60k+ miles on the HD V-twins. My dad was V-twin mechanic and tech service rep on S&S Cyle twins before he retired, those are big cube twins and can make huge amounts of power and torque. My dad has a 113 cubic inch S&S with a 120,000 miles on it, rebuilt once, in a Kenny Boyce Custom softtail frame, basically a stretched HD soft tail. All the motorcycles are over priced in my opinion, just like new cars/trucks. Much better than his Triumphs from the 70s which you worked on them for 5 minutes every 10 minutes riden. If you don't do your own maintenance....you may as well take the cash out of your wallet and set it on fire.

WILLIAM MEYER

Nut'n you posed the question in review "who would ever do that"? You were referring to putting the pants on over boots. My hand immediately went skyward. Here in the Ozarks, in July & August particularly, we get 90/90. 90 degrees at 90 percent humidity. Consequently I wear shorts. And, since I'm inherently lazy, I put my armored pants on over my shorts with my boots still on. My Aerostitch Dariens allow this (unzip to upper thigh)...my Klim Lattitude's not so much. Thanks again for all your hard work! Voting for more moto & wishing you and yours a Happy Independence Day.

BadgerTails

Yup, my Aero 1 piece goes on over shorts, t-shirt, put a huge chilled bladder of Gator/water mix into the chest pocket. Open all the zippered vents and you can actually get chilly. Ride on!

I run klim gear but not the goretex. I’ve never likes gore. It makes me feel clammy. The non gore klim is is also much more affordable. I live in Florida where it’s hot as crap and rains almost daily so I run klim mesh suit and a rain set for the daily showers if I’m going to get caught in one. My rain gear packs up small and lives in a saddle bag.

Gilbert Cuzdey Jr

I know youve mentioned this in a previous video but I can't remember exactly what you said. For a new ride, do you think abs is necessary? I'm leaning towards yes but that puts a lot of cheap older bikes out of the running then.

Bill Murray

My go-to riding jackets are Klim -- a Latitude for Winter riding and their Induction mesh and Baja jackets for Summer. I live in Georgia and mesh gear is a necessity for the summer season. Extremely well made clothing. I can also vouch for their gloves. I have a pair of Klim pants and my only complaint is they seem a bit low-cut in the waist. An excellent review. Please keep your moto reviews coming!
