Another not-black-rifle review: APF AR15

Matthew Sinn

Well crap, a two video dump... which to watch first? :thinkingemoji: I like the color. Something for someone who doesn't care to be tacticool and actually not an offensive coloration in my opinion. I hope you and yours have a great Independence Day, Nutn. Thanks as always.

DudeDudeDude

Will probably watch this tomorrow but it is nice to know if I ever have a POU for a rifle for use in a strawberry patch that there are options out there. Seriously it is interesting to see something other than black of FDE.

Todd Strelka

Dang, I will have to watch this tomorrow.

Todd Strelka

Not a strawberry patch, but the POU of the red gun is for defense of Dwight Schrute's beet farm! 🤣

WILLIAM MEYER

Must say that I do really like the color. Different and unique. Thanks for another EXCELLENT GRV Nut'n.

Bernal

Interesting…. It definitely has a 2nd cool factor. I’m not in love with that particular color. But, a sporting rifle, in my opinion, shouldn’t be constrained to an earth tone color.

David Spinks

I don't know if it's a regular production color for them, but AR500 makes a plate carrier system that would match this rifle awesome. They call it the MARS color for when you need to do your "wet work" in outer space 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Chris Adkins

Finally, Nutn meets Alex Pro, been waiting for you to review one of their products and I'm so happy to see you liked it. Up here in MN their rifles are pretty well known and liked. And they're a great bunch of guys too. I bought one of their 308 match guns several years ago and they threw in a free, sweet OD green cerekote. I love that rifle, it served me very well through a precision rifle course last year.

So glad to know you hate M-Lok and like the Key-Mod I am in the exact same camp and almost everyone disagrees but I have determined there is no advantage to to M-Lok and K- Mod is absolutely more convenient in every way! Maybe is you want to mount something that holds zero at distance M-Lok is a better performer. However I don’t mount anything like that to any component other than a machined in picatinny rail anyway so it is of no consequence.

Pedro

I’m all for non black or tactical color AR.

Max Roberts

Thank you nutn! These are my favorite reviews

Guy Actual

I like it, but I don't think that's a Midwest Industries rail. Reason for that is that all MI rails come with an anti pull device that is placed between the clamping device, and this one was missing one. I believe it may be an OEM job by the Alex Pro team. Notice the blade steel screw piece on the right hand side, which I think is great as it distributes the pressure better than just direct thread. A very nice design. Still, a cool build, and seemed to be pretty on the steel as you were popping shots down range. Wyatt also did a good job matching with the hogue grip and stock, AND its the only rifle that I have liked that combo on.... so.. Great eye Wyatt. Overall for someone without the tools i guess its an option, but like you I will just stick with all of the ones I have built. (Too many says the wife!, lol... No Such thing Babe!)

Downtrodden

Red Oxide! It has that rat rod feel. Hey, I love some 2nd cool colors! I have spray paint handy if there’s ever a need for a hasty 1st cool camo job. I appreciate the bunker background! Doodle needs to get those creative juices flowing with a commie chipmunk design.

Yes, I enjoy guns in dif flavors, not a fan of this red color but I do have an AR with bright red handguard/accents, red Lancer mags and my black lower is paint filled in red. I have one FDE and one in Black 'n Blue. Funny that my fave color is green and I don't have a green AR...yet

Andrettski

LOL, I was in Sister's Oregon last year and found out he and his family live there. Small Central Oregon town, beautiful area and tons of outdoor activities out there.

Andrettski

I'm a huge Aero fanboy, strongly recommend the VG6 Epsilon muzzle device. I shot a friends AR with one of those 'tuning fork' flash hiders on it and couldn't stand that 'pinging' sound, won't ever own one.

The Nutnfancy Project

Nice to know Chris, thanks for that info. This is a solid AR brand and I was impressed with it overall; great price point too

The Nutnfancy Project

"So glad to know you hate M-Lok and like the Key-Mod I am in the exact same camp and almost everyone disagrees but I have determined there is no advantage to to M-Lok" Correct! KeyMod works fast and easy, holds tight. MLOK is garbage. Very hard to attach correctly. The so called "military strength" tests and how the forums designated MLOK the winner is why we are where we are. Holy cow. KM all the way.

BadgerTails

Yo Wyatt, have you got any Larry Mann's in a 13EE? Love the colours, get some Made in USA tools of freedoms!!! Drive on, thrive on LtCol!!

Todd Strelka

It's the Schrute Farms beet red color. Love it!

rjw

Very hard to attach correctly? Lol its not rocket surgery Nutn.

rjw

My Checkmate flash suppressor must be broken. Lol! It shoots 3' flames to each side in low light. It does work well for recoil reduction.

Chase Ferguson

It’s not rocket surgery but it is Very finicky. With Keymod I can just blue thread locker that sucker and paint pen the heads. I have 2 BCM kemod rails and I wouldn’t trade them for an M-LOK if you gave it to me for free.

Steve Feeser

Red? Ok if you say so. I’m color blind and really don’t care much about color. Thanks for the review!!!!

Aaron Carrington

I wouldn’t buy a carbine length gassed rifle anymore.

Bluegill097

I am all about adding color to my arsenal at the moment, but maroon is by far my least favorite color so i think that thing is UGLY! I'm hot on Titanium Blue at the moment. Still a fun vid, even if I had to get a puke bag to get through it lol

JARMYSTRONG

It's crimson. Ok - we need something new for the AR-15 world. It'll probably be something tech related, but this platform needs something innovative.

DACampbell

The red/crimson/maroon just doesn't do it for me. I would certainly pause if a friend pulled one of those out of the case!

Andrettski

You can find them under $50 at a few places. I put them on my AK's as well.

Harddog

Nope, don’t like it!

Bret Smith

Nice. I love painted rifles, the blandness of black and FDE is tiresome. Mine is a rich forest green, and I get loads of people who ask, “where did you have it done?” and the answer is, “in my basement, with a half an hour of degreasing and scrubbing, then a rattle can of rustoleum primer, then paint, then a half an hour in a pre-heated 200F oven to bake in the finish. Was my wife pissed? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes.” It holds up just fine so long as you bake it, it’s enamel. If you don’t heat it, it’s not going to ever actually cure. It may dry, but it won’t cure. I’m actually a retired NACE-certified coatings professional.

Andrettski

AR15DISOUNTS.com has the VG6 for $44.95 right now, sale ends in 10 hours, FYI.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

9:04 yep, there is the Midwest Industries on the bottom of the hand guard.

Elijah Ballard

I like the maroon. People tend to do the same thing.
