When this review came out, some reviewers were saying the MC9 is a "fail." There was some dog piling on the MC9 (just like when the Sig P365) came out. Uh huh.

Well here's some rebuttal in defence of the MC9 and my bold prediction on how successful it will be. The crew and I tested the MC9 and came away impressed...like immediately. We'll talk about some of the ridiculous testing protocol some click baiter 'reviewers' use to draw your attention (and this works btw). Then we deliver a real review and talk about what we found out.

Also integrating for the first time are data from my TNP Patreon clubhouse (join below). I will use this on occasion to add to my own data. I've known many of these guys for years and years and I trust their information. TacticalDoodle and I cover the MC9 accuracy, reliability, firepower, color & coming special editions, sights, grip, the still xlnt competitive options, and much more. Kinda' like how watching a mountain bike crash is more interesting that click bait gun "testing."

The Internet's Wrong Again! Canik MC9

Definitely looking forward to this one. Thanks for keeping on cranking out the content 👍

The review I've been waiting for.

Patrick Richards

No knife special edition yet nutn! Hoping for it in time for Christmas!

Kirk Fickert

Waiting to see if the Hk sCF9cc ever materializes. I like my paddle euro style mag releases as a southpaw.

Clint Raby

Don't own a Canik but the few that I have goty hands on were great.

Bernal

Tempting…. I have a Mete and SFX already.

Sam Pilgram MTB videos rock! Send it!

Good info on this pistol. Alway looked like a winner, but my 365xl is not going anywhere. Also, thanks for letting us know BigCartel has your goods again, just swooped some patches, stickers and a hat I've always wanted to get. Let is know when the TNP and the Eat Shit Commie, are back in stock please.

DirtyPhil

I have had an sf, sft, sfx, sfl, mete sft, and elite sc. All were good but wanted to have magazine commonality with sub2k so went with psa daggers - yes the trigger on caniks are better but I like the grips better on the daggers- personal preference…

Matthew Hargis

Thanks Nutn. I’ve been holding off on this one, but have been tempted. It’s on the short list. I own, let’s say several Caniks and would get more. Love the brand and you got me started with your original review…what was that in early ‘14. The mag compatibility across the entire line is a very “first cool” point for guys and their systems. The downside being the thin mag walls that you pointed out. Thanks again for the great review and honest feedback. -Lt Col Sharkey

Good on CANik for helping to keep the industry honest and affordable. Honorable mention for jimping on squared trigger guard.

One of my biggest rants is against the fad of short barrel + long grip "compact" carry guns. Unless you're carrying horizontally under arm-pit, you're ruining its conceal-ability AND undermining the ballistic potential of the ammunition. I'm glad you mentioned it in this video, Nutn; as usual you're on the right side of the issue. Most defensive ammo isn't developed for a sub 3.5" barrel, it's developed with a 5"+ barrel (which I'll admit is a somewhat unsubstantiated assertion because most manufacturers don't advertise their testing barrel lengths, but it is substantiated by ballistic gel testing from micro compact guns). I bought a P365 XL slide and barrel to go on my original P365 frame with the original flush fit magazine as primary. I get the marginal benefit to ballistic performance while still not being excessively tall and printing unnecessarily. Carry the higher cap mag as a reload. That's the correct formula. Change my mind.

Rob Miller

Nutn, If we use your links to get to a site but navigate to a different item selection…do you still get paid?

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

Iv got my slide locked back for another week and then taking mine back out to the range, I love all my other caniks! Hopefully this one pans out after my next trip.

Funny, I was actually in this Turkish lighting shop the other day and was telling the owner how outstanding Canik guns are. Anyway, he said, “You say CAN ik and we say JA Nick… I said, “If your lighting is half as good…” LOL

kylenor

I like Caniks. I've shot a few but I don't own any. If I was to buy one it would be a range toy, like the SFX Rival SF. Triggers on those things are amazing for the money. Side note: I really want CZ to come out with a true micro 9. I've heard rumors that it's in the works. They make the P10M which seems like it sucks, it has no external slide release. I have a couple P10s, an F and an S. The S is close to a Glock 26 in size. A little bit fat for me to comfortably conceal. My current conceal carry choices are Glock 48 and Sig P365 Spectre Comp. Great content as always Nutn!

Seeker Keyl

Indeed. The HK looks nice! The only Caniks I like aesthetically are the full size models. The small ones just look weird. And looking cool is a critical element of the equation!

"Carry the higher cap mag as a reload. That's the correct formula. " Correct!

This is why I carry a P01. I'm not too worried about it printing as I live in TX and most in my area don't care who is carrying. (Most likely here (In my area) people are more worried about persons that are not armed as we see them as a liability. lol) That said, id rather be throwing pills out of a 3" barrel than no barrel at all. You can also handload to get better performance. Also, if you are not reloading or at least have a setup and supplies, you are no prepared.

LIKE # 27 for VALUE: no Caniks here yet, but I do have an Arex 9mm, IIRC they were like $348 with (3) mags and RUNS great!? Yes, I AM a Glock/SIG fan boi, but these eco-Euro builds are some INSANE value, adapt/overcome! Like TD my Glockin-Spchiel accoutrement is fleshed out for those pistols/mags, they run very well! 2024 predictors: Yes, I agree with Nutn's Poli-predict that the DNC is going to steal more elections; our Wisco uni-parties have LEFT the ballot drop boxes in the field and REFUSE to disclose WHERE they are in MKE and Dane Counties?! DO YOU LIVE IN a swing state? Secondly, I was just permanently suspended from X platform , no reason(s) given, after posting to Fed/local Wisconsin politicians about where are the ballot drop boxes, with a link to #2000Mules documentary...and our AG is in with 10 other AGs, appealing the CA HC mag bans FOR reversal back to it, and enstate that crap here along with MN/IL/MI/DE/MA/VT....rats are working HARD OT against us!! UP your donate to the TNP, Merry Christmas!!!

It may have been a throw away comment, but I would definitely like to hear a discussion between you and Doodle on the "30 years of civilization left" topic. I have my own thoughts on that subject, and of course no one can predict the future, but I find that hearing other people's takes on the subject is valuable. ETA: You got me with that mountain bike video. I shouldn't have laughed, but I did. :-)

Racing Psychosis

A TP9SF is great. But for EDC, Hellcat all the way. Won't be buying a MC9. That frame flex in the mag well is unreal in the MC9, that would be a red flag for me. Not surprised by the excellent trigger. I like that its Optics Ready for that price. Nowadays, if I buy a semi auto pistol, it has to be optic ready. What is realistic and you need to do this is, does it survive Cheetos fingers. :)

Rusty Chains

The MC9 is just a bit too small. I have the 365 which is too small and 365XL which works fine as my hot weather gun. I keep my old forrest green TP9 as a loaner and the spare mags for it work fine in my Walther PPQ which part of my carry rotation.

McNavy

I appreciate what Doodle said about people who carry with the bigger magazine. That had always struck me as very silly. If you are buying a small ccw dedicated gun, why would you make it bigger when carrying it? If you want more rounds or a longer grip, just get a bigger gun. These are purpose built for being as compact as possible, so to purposefully negate that attribute is very odd.

robert trillana

Oh snap, Chad at century now! Always enjoyed the Dos Equis guy from keltec

Racing Psychosis

Agreed. My extended mags on the Hellcat are carried as the spare mag. The small mags and flat base plates are the carry mag, and the mag that gets the most range time.

Plumber Angelo

Super cool concealable gun. Polymer striker pistols unite! A new baby brother has arrived.

GaucheOne

I like a Glock 26 with a 15 round because it doesn’t print on me (on my build and 4 o’clock carry) where even a 19 barrel will print on my hip a bit. (Id even rather carry a Glock 45 over 19 if I’m gonna leg/hip print anyway).

Todd Davis

So Chad from Keltec joins Century arms, and Canik simultaneously releases a pistol with a thin plastic magwell? Keltec inspired design?! :). Hope your doing well Chad! It's always good to see you in the videos!

David Elkins

Loaded chamber indicators are just like forward assists on ARs. Super necessary for me while many crazily prefer not to have them. They are just wrong. :)

Robert Fuller

As always, great video! Got a Canik METE SFX on your recommendation and I love it! Keep up the good work.

Casey Jones

The logic makes sense. The odds of you discharging just 1 round are so low. But if you do, well, that’s a bad day, and most likely your reload needs to hold a few extra to make sure you come home alive.

rediius

If you care, the brand is pronounced in Turkish like "CHA-nick" or "JHA-nick" although even Canick USA has given up trying.

Chris Fischer

As far as olight being out of stock, if it's during their monthly sale, or other sales, they pull a bunch of stuff down to make shipping faster. They are working on it according to their reps

Zach Maddox

Cool pistol at a great price, but we have 3 P365s (2 reg and an XL) a pile of mags, lights for them, holsters etc. This is the problem with rushing to the latest trend the gun is a minor cost. The cost is in reliability testing, holsters, etc. The way I see it, no matter what you pick, by the time you are done switching your EDC pistol is going to cost 1k plus. I'll be a very long time before the P365 isn't my household's go to EDC.

DudeDudeDude

Canik staying in business because of Shaun the TNP’r’s Gunnies habit.

DudeDudeDude

TD poo pooing FDE? Wasn’t there a time when he would duracote anything without a pulse with the stuff?

Andrew H

I like the shoutout to MrGunsNGear. He's trustworthy and does great 2A news reports.

Ted Jahne

Late to the party on this one, but Nutn’s prediction is spot on. I have been trying to find a new carry pistol for the wife since she despises the Beretta BU9 Nano she initially bought. She has a thumb issue and struggles with the controls sometimes. We landed on the a variant of the 365 for a while after I we put all the variations in her hands. However, I saw the MC9 in a shop yesterday and had a lightbulb moment. She liked it as soon as she had it in her hands, score 1 for Canik.

JFire

Thanks for affirming what I’ve been debating about the extended mag is the reload and the flush form is the most practical for concealed carry. Ive been a CCW permit holder for 12 years now and have gone back and forth about what mag to carry in the gun and is the printing worth the extra 2 rounds
