Olight as you've probably seen is doing EDC knives. Here the "Mr Rubato" and "Freeze" get some air time. They are surprisingly good efforts as you will see. The Rubato is especially intriguing to me in that cool scalloped scale version. Another fun, two for one KRV brought to you by the TNP donors!

If any TNP donor has or gets the Spurdog, plz lmk, I want to review that one too

That’s “Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto.” 😂

Cody Harring

Nothing really gives me the feels but glad to know your opinion on them. You have turned me into a function and weight snob so that is my main criteria. SAWC!

I've been happy with the Olight knives I have, the Drever and the Splint. These look like nice options as well. Thanks Nutn!

Been looking at the green Rubato for a couple years just haven't pulled the trigger at $90. Better cheaper options IMO. I just gave up on Styx when DeYoung came out with that Mr Roboto crap. Thanks for the KRV Nutn. Happy New Year.

Love anodized aluminum as a handle material. Especially when there's a fun color palette. Seems like civivi, qsp, kizer, etc are all coming out with aluminum button locks this year.

I've been carrying a carbon Rubato 2 since May of last year. I absolutely love it. Super hard steel that keeps an edge. Very fast to open but doesn't come open in my pocket like some other blades will. I lose knives fairly often so the $68 bucks I paid for mine is easier to swallow than the spiderco that came before it. Olight has really stepped up their game in a lot of ways in the last five years and I've become a loyal customer.

Racing Psychosis

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm so over Olight. I won't buy any more of their lights, the only ones that haven't failed on me are the little 3E EOS. For what these are, they look over priced to me, ugly black coatings, aluminum tractionless scales, poor jimping. No thanks, there are better knives at that price point. The copper one looks fine for what it is. Junk that Otacle, Junk that Utility looking thing.

Clint Allison

One other thing, I've had to put loctite on the clip screws as well as whatever you call the nub on the blade. Not a big deal but something I've ran into.

I just ordered my second Olight the other day, on your recommendation of course. It’s a Baton 3 Pro….in orange 🤪🤪. I was curious about their knives, so thanks for putting this review together. LONG time fan, recent donor to the project. Thanks for all you’ve done for all of these years.

Matthew Hargis

Love the KRVs. I have a Drever and like it a lot. You are right the matte orange just pops and is very nice. Thanks Nutn!

Ryan Paulson

Thanks for the review bud. Been a big fan of Olight for some time now and just purchased their new baton 4. Always wondered about the knives.

godfatherUSA

Did I miss the part when you said these Oknives are made by Kizer?

Rob Miller

Good looking knives…but I’m saving my money for the next TNP special. Carrying the Nutnfancy signed 2021 Spyderco today. I have a bunch more TNP blades I rotate in but need to send them in for signing some day.

Clint Raby

I have Soo many Olights but never tried their knives because Nutn hasn't recommended them. Thanks Nutn!

DudeDudeDude

I did not even know they sold knives. These have piqued my interest as I prefer axis lock knives when I am not carrying something traditional. I would have like to seen these compared to the budget bench made models like the griptillian.

Matthew Sinn

Apparently they have a pair of small hatchets (in the hawk family) too, which look pretty well thought out.

That's what I heard too. I haven't seen any evidence, but I've definitely heard that other places. Kizer makes a damn good knife.

Christopher Davis

Glad to finally see a TNP review of some Oknives. I own several and like them all; the Ratel (which has one of the best tanto blades I’ve seen) has jimping that is actually quite decent. I’m sorry this doesn’t translate to all their designs. Some are better than others, sure, but they are all of good quality and I like that Olight is always trying new things.

Christopher Davis

I’ll admit I’m a bit bewildered when I hear people accuse Olight of making junk. I’ve been buying and using their lights for years and have never had any major issues with them. On the contrary, I have found them to be reliable and of almost uniformly excellent quality.

Racing Psychosis

As I've said in my post, the only one I have that works is the 3E EOS. I had two of the I3T EOS, thin diameter ones with a tailcap switch, that may not be the name of the light anymore, don't care, won't buy anymore of them, both had swiches that failed. The one I sent back that failed first, they replaced, I was like great service, then failed again, same failure, then the other failed the same way. Its like forget it, shitcanned them, they are not worth my time and obviously not reliable. I need my lights to actually work when I need them to work. Had one of the Baton's, failed, normal use, nothing wild or stupid. Hell I have cheap Gander Mountain flashlight that still works that's older yet and been abused more. If you had luck with them, good for you. I can't seem to break the little 3E EOS, I'm confident it works but as far as I'm concerned, I won't buy any more of their stuff. So on the contary, and likely the minority here on TNP, I'm not convinced they are a quality item. Obviously Nutn believes in them, my experience has not be good like his. As to these knives, they are probably rebranded Kizer chinese or one of the other chinese knockoffs. If I want a chinese knife, I'll stick to my Kershaw.

kylenor

Cool knives. I may pick one up the next time I buy an Olight.
