Came here at the speed of needing to tell the author that you should take a break! We love you and want you to be well!

JH

Thank you for the episode! This is a tough topic. Take a break and recharge. This is an awesome comic!

Me too 😂 they do so much amazing work and so much over time, they need to sit back and relax !!!

Emelie Höbel

That was intense, when you already know that something is going to happen, you're always on edge while reading, poor Carter :( And also take your time author, no need to rush things

Rosa Maus

F. Casanova

I think you captured the tension and confusion of the situation perfectly. It's very hard to write such a scene, but I think you did great

Ann

You are such a good writer that this scene made me sick to my stomach even if I've read it before. Also take a break no need to rush things we'll always be there!

Embry-Cove

That was super, suuuuuper hard to read, oh my god. You're a great writer to evoke such a strong response. Now, take a break!

Kenny Crager

Shiiiiiiiiiit I got chills, my rage boiled up, and I just want to make this guy go for a swim with concrete shoes in a frozen lake. Little Crush, my heart goes out to you. YAA, I would be drained too, needing to depict this scene. Ugh. I hope you have a chance to recharge!

Jade

😭😭😭😭😭

Anti-Beat

Ugh...Lance is such a... But i love your Comics. They feel so real and intense. So take your time :) We'll always be there.

Carter

Wait, didn’t Carter say to his current coach the same thing Lance said to him? The “Athletes have to trust their coach” thing.

Veronicahhh

That was a tough scene to read, so I can imagine it must of been an even tougher scene to draw. Recharge well on your break YAA, you deserve it

Grooming at its finest. As someone to takes care of kids, its very easy to distract, manipulate, and change their perspective. As they are literally hardwired to learn from adults. Mans is sick and I want to fight him

KingBronxcyc

Is this the same coach that Carter was refering to when he said "coach would never tell you" or something similar, when he thought the new coach knew about him and abusive past? If this is the same coach, I'm really feel sad the Carter experienced things like this from people who was meant to trust.

Felix

This was so hard to read – I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to draw. But you do such an amazing job of depicting grooming and gaslighting. One of the hard parts about this scene was realising I would probably be just as clueless and trusting if I was in Carter's shoes at that age. I think this change in their relationship dynamic from the original was a very powerful and good choice, because this time Lance has an even more obvious role as an authority figure who can easily manipulate a young Carter who is just trying to impress him and prove himself at Hockey. We can also see how this manipulation will be an ongoing process once Carter joins the team and that Carter will have a complicated, close relationship with Lance, likely blaming himself for the grooming without realising he is a victim of it. It is very well done and heartbreaking. Please take as long as you need before continuing the story!!

Natalie

Wow, this was written so well. I really liked how well you portrayed gas lighting. Also made me feel like I was going to throw up, very intense. Rest up, I would need a break after drawing something this dark too. Please take care of yourself.

Raven

As hard as this was to read, I do want to say that you are an amazing storyteller! I hope you take all the time you need to recover!

Susanna Lavea

This was hard and you did an amazing job, thank you a lot!!

NanaYaa
>>107976004

yeah, the content warning in the beginning spoils what will happen already and obviously influences the reading experience with tension, but I would not want anyone to stumble into this dark scene blindly X_X

NanaYaa
>>107976692

NanaYaa
>>107977193

"sickening" was the intention, so at least that nailed it! Thanks so much! TvZ

NanaYaa
>>107977644

yes, it indeed was draining, additionally to the drawing process being exhausting anyway, so I'm glad it's done now. Great that it evoked such a strong reaction tho! T_Tv Thanks!!

NanaYaa
>>107994142

Yes, it's the same person! Carter only ever had this one coach through his whole youth hockey career, as he followed him through the age levels :')

NanaYaa
>>107999858

Yeah, I kinda undererstimated how bad this scene would make me feel and how draining the process of drawing it would feel. But I'll hope I can come back refreshed after a break and thanks for liking the writing!

NanaYaa
>>107996890

Thanks so much!! I really saw so much unused potential with Lance's role in the old version, when the HOCKEY SETTING serves as such a typical environment where kids have to trust an outer-family adult. Where they crave someone's approval for their skill and are also dependent on them treating them fairly and to not abuse the power position. It's also an real-life issue making the news often, that these situations enable child abuse with long-term gaslighting. So I'm glad I made this change, even though it makes writing and drawing these scenes even harder, because the darkness is even deeper vowed in this time. But I hope I can rest up and tackle the comic with new motivation later on :'-D!

PeterT

So many red flags, but still everything Lance says makes sense, no wonder little Crush is so confused

Diego P

Man that was rough, well executed

TheBlackRabbitMayra

This was definitely a high pace and anxious chapter, also the way he washed the whole situation with a ‘reward’ of information and (not)possible connections was stomach wrenching. Gosh I can really see how revamped Lance’s role is in here. I’m not saying that this sort of trauma creates problematic behavior as an adult nor is it the direct cause, but it’s really executed well how Lance has groomed Carter over the years into being an anxious person and desperate to please kind of person. I hope Lance gets some light shed on his disgusting predatory ways; who knows what else he’s done to other kids. I wonder if this is his first offense done out of impulse or if he has a history of it. The way he handled it really quickly makes me believe in the latter.

SpaceSmores

You executed it well but ew ew ewwwwwwww so gross

Nathaniel S.

There would not be a single person capable of restraining me from throwing this guy down a flight of stairs if Carter was my kid. His parents are kinda a-holes for not keeping a better eye on him. He's like ten!

TheBlackRabbitMayra
>>108075974

I do think his mom could work on a safety net for him considering he runs out pretty often. I don’t think either are a—holes for this though, especially the father who isn’t even there but at work? The mom works at home, but maybe if she’s that busy and they’re that financially well off, I’m surprised she doesn’t get a proper babysitter…. At the end of it all though, I don’t think most parents even associate such horrors to be connected to their own child, especially in their neighborhood where as carter is VERY far from home since he snuck away.

Папа Chaos

As someone with sexual trauma who copes a lot like Carter, this really hits close to home. I can only imagine how hard it must've been to complete this chapter. Thank you for doing so anyway tho, it feels really good to have a character in media that I can relate to like this since hypersexuality and using sex as a coping mechanism is often vilified. Take care, Yaa!! And take as much time as you need for a break! Your health and wellbeing comes first. :),

NanaYaa
>>108028426

Lance was sweating bullets, but he has enough spontaneity to make up fir it ID

NanaYaa
>>108036772

Yeah, this thought of "what is he doing to others" will be a big factor for Carter and his guilt feeling later on.

NanaYaa
>>108294252

thank you!! I also really wanted to see this representation myself, so Im glad that by making it, I can do something for others to see themselves in as well :)

Steelbright

This was really hard to read and well done. Yaa, hope you can take care of yourself and take a rest if you need it, you always deserve that :) best of luck

Maora

My heart is not stopping to hurt. Its to much to see my little Carterchen like this in the situation. He deserve better like this. :(

Frog

I feel like there's sth weird going on with lance's dad. The way he stopped before saying that his dad was couching his brother and wayne is kinda sus to me. Maybe his dad was some kind of abusive? And they way he is is partly becouse to some trauma? Or was he jealous that he wasn’t in team with star? And now he wants to have his own? (As carter) Also the thing he said about "making stars" gives me bad feeling. Maybe Carter has more in common with wayne than we think. Or young lance. I don't know I just think like there's more death to it.

astr.ii

oooooof i knew it was coming and it was still so painful to read. i’m so glad you included carter’s thoughts here — i think we often forget that kids can initially sense something is not right and are visibly uncomfortable. you portrayed the shift in his attention so well, but that one moment of fear and wanting to go home was so important to represent. please take your time yaa you’re telling an important and very real story, but you are more important ❤️

WalnutWhatever

The gaslighting... Can I hit him? I wanna hit him...
