Meltan WIP 6: Floating eye (Patreon)

And we finally get to the last step of our dear Meltan, and the most impressive part of the plush. Yep, it's time to make the floating eye.

We instantly thought on using fishing line so in the photos and a certain distance it'd look like the eye was really floating. And it really looked awesome. But the hard part of this was how to make the fishing line to stay in place. After several attempts, we came up with this way: We made a couple stitches around a foam piece and then hot glued it all. It looks a bit messy but works fine and since it goes inside the plush, you don't see anything from the outside.
Now you know how to make it if you have to make something similar in the future!

If you look at Meltan's design, you'll see that the only thing left is the tail, but unfortunately we don't have phoos of it because we made it in a rush and were focused on finishing the plushie as soon as possible, since it was just officially announced in that moment and we were too hyped to care about WIP photos. For the tail cables we used the same technique as for the fishing line and it doesn't have anything difficult, so you won't miss anything.

Y por fin llegamos al último paso de nuestro querido Meltan, y el paso mas llamativo de este peluche. Asi es, toca hacer ese ojo flotante. 

La opción que se nos vino rápidamente a la cabeza al ver este peluche fue usar hilo de pescar para que en fotos y a distancia diera el efecto de no estar atado a nada. Y realmente quedaba genial. Pero lo mas difícil de utilizar este material es como sujetarlo al ojo en si y a la cabeza. Después de probar varias formas y rompernos un poco la cabeza, se nos ocurrió una manera:
Cogimos el hilo de pescar, dimos un par de puntadas alrededor de un pedacito de espuma y lo sujetamos con silicona. Parece rudimentario,pero funciona perfectamente, y para nada se ve desde el exterior.
Ya sabéis un pequeño truco para si necesitáis hacer algo parecido en el futuro!

Si os fijáis en el diseño de Meltan, ahora solo faltaría hacer su cola,pero desgraciadamente no tenemos fotos del proceso, porque fue el ultimo día que lo hicimos rápidamente y solo pensamos en hacerle fotos para subirlo a las redes sociales, pues lo acababan de anunciar y el hype era fuerte. Para los cables de la cola simplemente usamos la misma técnica que con el hilo de pescar. y no tiene mucha complejidad ese patrón, así que no os perdéis nada.
