Keroberos/Kerberos plush WIP 1: Plush study (Patreon)

It was about time we had an ambitious project here. The plush we have to do now is a real challenge in many ways. 

You probably know Car Captor Sakura. And you also probably know who Kero is. Well, we were commissioned to make this loyal companion in his true form. If you can remember, Kero turned into an armored winged lion, a really majestic design. The problem with this design is that, unlike his chibi form, this appearence doesn't show up much in the anime, only in a few chapters. After checking almost all of them, we saw that when he appears in his true form, he does it from just a few angles and poses, and not all of them are useful to us. In conclusion, the body references we can get are really limited. We were also surprised to only find a 2 drawing concept art.

But you know that it doesn't stop us. With some skill, we edited a couple screenshots of the anime to get the pose we wanted.We changed the head position and also made it slightly bigger in the side ref, since it looked super tiny on that screenshot.

Now that we have a good study, we can comment the design and work we'll have. As a positive point, the customer wanted Kero to be sitting, so it will be easier to make the plush stand with those huge wings. Also, the body is one of a regular feline so it won't be a mistery to make it. Most of the work will come from 3 things. In one side, the head, because it has a difficult shape and marikngs on the sides. We also have the armor, which we've never made for a plush, so we'll have to try stuff until it looks good. And finally, manage to make those gigantic wings resistant enough. We don't want them to fall down.

Pues ya iba tocando traeros un proyecto ambicioso por aquí. El peluche que toca ahora es un verdadero reto en muchos aspectos.Seguro que todos vosotros conocéis la serie de Sakura Card Captor. Y seguro que conocéis a Kero. Pues nos han encargado hacer a este fiel compañero en su "verdadera forma". Si os acordáis, Kero se volvía un león con armadura y alas en esta forma, siendo un diseño super señorial y majestuoso.El problema con este diseño es que a diferencia de su versión pequeña que aparece durante toda la serie, esta versión aparece en solo unos pocoscapítulos, y, después de revisar la mayoría, casi siempre sale en planos entrecortados, en ángulos y poses que no sirven o algo desproporcionado. En conclusión, las referencias que podemos sacar(de cuerpo entero) son bastante limitadas. Es algo que suele pasar en personajes que solo aparecen en una serie y no de forma continua. Nos ha sorprendido también que solo hayamos encontrado 1 concept art oficial de dos dibujos.Pero ya sabéis que eso no nos detiene. Con un poco de astucia y habilidad, hemos modificado unos fotogramas de la serie para conseguir la pose que queríamos. Sobretodo hemos tenido que cambiar la posición y proporción de la cabeza del león, pues tenia una cabeza bastante ridícula en esa animación.Ahora que tenemos un estudio óptimo, podemos comentar el diseño y el trabajo que tenemos por delante. Como punto positivo, el cliente nos pidió que el peluche estuviera sentado, así que será más sencillo el poder darle estabilidad aunque tenga esas alas tan grandes. A su vez, el cuerpo es el de un animal cuadrúpedo cualquiera, nada de misterio.El trabajo más importante lo vamos a tener en 3 cosas. Por un lado, la cabeza, que tiene una forma bastante compleja, con marcas en la boca y morro. Por otro lado, la armadura que lleva, pues nunca hemos hecho una en peluche y tendremos que explorar algún método para que quede bonita. Y por último, conseguir hacer esas gigantescas alas y que sean medianamente resistentes aún con sus dimensiones y peso. No queremos que se le vayan cayendo.Sin mas dilación, vamos a trabajar en los patrones de este peluche :) Esperamos que os haga igual de ilusión que a nosotras.
