ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL
Hey people, we have an idea that we think is interesting. As you may have seen in our social media, we posted a plush we made 2 years ago but that we hadn't posted yet. If you're wondering why, well, many things happened that made us unable to post him until now. We temporarily lost his pictures, and then we were too busy to post him. And we thought that it was a good time to post his pictures.
What's our idea? Well, we've thought on posting his process since we never posted it either. We made this plush in a time we were really busy and our life was quite a chaos, and we were new to Patreon, so we didn't have time to show his process back then. The pictures are old, and they don't have the best quality, but we think you can enjoy all the work behind this plush.
Well, we usually start with the plush study. Since the plush is already finished, we decided to show him directly next to the references. This plush had two big difficulties and then some smaller ones. The first was obviously the size. We had to make a 160cm plush, and it's the biggest plush we've ever made. Scaling those patterns was going to be a torture since we didn't have either a scanner or a printer, and also sewing and making the embroidery. And our former embroideyr machine had a small hoop area, just 11x18cm, so we had to make most embroideries by hand with the sewing machine and it was really difficult.
The other big challenge of this plush was his giant horn. In a small size it's easy to keep his shape, but in life size it would be like an arm, it would weigh too much. We had to build a structure with foam and wire. Back then we weren't as skilled with it as now, so it took us a lot of effort.
Other difficult parts? The arms and legs, which have a lot of dirrefent pieces, which we had to pattern separately. The hardest of them were the thighs, without doubt. And the other detail we really wanted to make well was the mouth. As you can see in the references, he has some kind of muzzle that stands out, making him super adorable. We managed to find a way to make it without making a separate piece and sew it over the face.
Since he's already finish, we can confirm that all our fears came true and it was really difficult to make a plush with such dimensions. But it was TOTALLY worth it. It's one of the most incredible plushies we've made and we would even like to repeat him with our current skills and materials. It turned out both cute and amazing, and he will always be in our memories. On top of that, we put him in a pose that can melt your heart, sitting with his hands together, like the good boy he is hahaha
And that said, we'll start posting this baby's WIPs, okay? :)
