No Time for a Negative Peace | Michael Brooks and David Slavick

What led to the end of the apartheid regime in South Africa? The African National Congress movement led by Nelson Mandela and other luminaries that pushed from the grassroots for liberation? Of course. A restive population committed to freedom and raising consciousness? Yes.

Well done and well said, thank you for intelligently laying out a well reasoned plea to not "return" to the same old Democratic policies and strategies that allowed for losing the executive, the judicial and the legislature to what is quite literally a cast of clowns. Being right is not enough, that has to be said again, and again and again. Because the GOP has learned the lesson well and even though they have been consistently wrong, they have still won many times. Even with things as dire as they are, in my brief foray into Democratic activism, I have felt a very strong undercurrent of "We are the experts" coming from so-called centrist Democrats. I am not against them having ideas different than my own and I value their experience. However, when they have already repeatedly given the field over to a slathering horde, I hardly think it wise to obediently follow their counsel for regaining the field. 2000 has been shown to not have been a fluke nor can we assume 2016 was a fluke. The GOP, aside from being very canny, does not posses any special super powers. The Democrats have simply been going in the wrong direction and following the wrong strategies and policies. Not all of the policies, but enough that they have been hobbled enough to lose to a bunch of obvious incompetents.
