As a socialist I'm struggling with the next federal election. The liberals are worse than conservatives. Firstly they enact the same policies as the cons do. But they are more competent at passing draconian laws that don't get struck down by our courts. And secondly their base is willing to defend their worst actions because "the cons are worse/we can't afford to let the cons win..." JT has created a trillion dollar infrastructure bank. Which will privatize infrastructure under public private partnership structure. Which is far more expensive than borrowing money and building infrastructure as a government. Fascissm is horible, but the liberals are almost as bad. And they support the kind of policies that dissolve social cohesion and enable fascists to spread their bullshit.

This is very informative, a great talk. I try following Canadian politics as a Montreal-phile but, Rob Ford aside, it just doesn’t have the cast of characters (from Julia Salazar to Ted Cruz) that makes US politics such a compelling spectacle. The election of right wing nationalists in Quebec is really very bad though.
