Organizing really helps center your focus and stop being so depressed. I also agree that I don't really fear capital flight. I'm with Griscom, I welcome their bullshit.

Sorry to double post, but I also want to empathize with Griscom as being a lone lefty southerner who grew up poor. I was always called a "democrayet."

Loved Brooksy's stream of thought around 28min... economic justice is the immediate important crystallizing moment in our times. But just a little beyond is a deeper synthesis in American culture which blasts past white identity, racism, feminism and class, and it is (to put a mild but not insincere pop culture slant on it) the Marvel comic morality of the USA. Good vs evil. This has always made me cringe, when Americans make things out so artificially dichotomous and lacking in ambiguity and nuance, but deeper down there is a unified resonance in American society of a deeply felt need for justice with their "freedom". Freedom is so hard to pin down, but justice is much simpler. It's the Marvel Universe Morality. It really does tie so many people in the USA together. I do not men to be glib about it! It's beyond economics, class, identity, and it is spiritual. That's what unites a vast majority of Americans. Even the frickin goths and satanists when you think about it. In some way or another Americans believe in a myth that they are somehow the world's moral guardians, why else are they generally so strident that their ideology is what the world needs? ---hell, even the juggalos respect a moral core. Apart from the overt facist-racists, even the worst subculture, the neoliberals, have this morality myth, just awkwardly expressed via market gods. This is why although I share some of the worries expressed by TMBS patreons, I am quite optimistic about the USA, since I think most people will be able to see that the young socialist progressives are deep down, on the correct moral side of the battles for justice. The good guys in the not so comical US Marvel Moral landscape.
