Ben’s argument regarding a false equivalence between nazism and socialism (that socialism has a history of theory and different competing threads while nazism does) seems flat out false to me. Fascism has tons of theory. And there are different threads of competing fascism. For example, Strausserism. Of course fascist theory is garbage but conservatives would certain point out that there is plenty of fascist theory and that both forms of theory are garbage. This seems like the weakest argument that Ben could have come up with

Good nerdy stuff with Burgis. I guess Brooksy chooses his nerds ;-). The point needs to be made that the reactionary conservatives claim their side is the more rational, to the extreme in Nick Land circle wankery, where they take intellectual flights of fancy to accelerationist hells and call it far sighted genius. Those folks, like the Thermidorians are great at producing "gottcha's" and stopping naive leftie arguments in their tracks, and their structural critique can be often half valid, but a half valid critique can end in "total insanity" (pure elementary logic that: in a formal system any false proposition claimed true as axiom allows anything to the proven both true and false). So we should not forget they are still wrong on several aspects which they derive from their ideology, mostly they are wrong because they fill gaps where spiritual principles are necessary where ethics and morals apply, with their twisted "virtues" of misanthropy and nihilism. So taking them apart in dialectic is not merely a matter of logic, it requires debate on spiritual merits: e.g., whenever you can: favouring compassion over vindictiveness, and favouring love over hatred, and favouring sympathy over condescension, favouring justice over freedom while favouring freedom over authoritarianism.

Combined Logic + Moral arguments are important not just to turn around the alt-lite twits, but to make comrades on the left more robust in their internal thinking and rationale.

Love Ben Burgis. Doesn't ramble or speak in word salads, explains stuff to dotards like me in a succinct, clear manner. Great guy. Thanks TMBS for continuing your good work alongside MR, Antifada etc etc
