Global update on Ecuador and Rojava.

Appreciate the updates on Ecuador and Rojava. There's a solidarity rally in NYC at the IMF at noon for Ecuador- please keep us posted on other ways of showing solidarity! Also wanted to recommend a book related to hegemony and Brazil: Occupying Schools, Occupying Land, about the MST's projects in public education in Brazil. The author talks about how the MST takes on explicitly Gramscian/hegemonic objectives in shifting the institutions of public education to support other movement goals. Would be a great guest and topic for the show. Lastly, wanted to request/recommend that as the show takes on more Rojava content, to bring on Assyrian voices/sources as well to complicate the Kurdish project.

Nice debate Michael, thanks for pointing-out commonalities with leftist thought and the right-wing incoherence in Saager's point of view. Like a typical conservative, Saager would like US to act out of fear and aggressively try to contain China (which will not work given China's internal strengths) because according to him they are a threat to US "freedom" and "way of life". But, of course like a typical conservative he knows that the World will end with US as the preeminent military power on planet Earth (such are her advantages in this sphere), thereby making China no serious threat to US freedoms at all. Saager clearly has to see that the real threat to US "way of life" emanates from corrupt US elites who never cared about the freedoms of US ppl (they would still be sending your children up chimneys if they could) and if they can make a buck by selling-out to China's (or any other country's) political and economic elite interests, then they will do it in a heartbeat.... And so, acting out of fear to contain China (whether economically, geopolitically, or militarity) is not only an ineffective move but will not solve the problem that he (let's be generous and say) claims to care about. The fear of China will however help convince US to generate the extra spending on expensive and unnecessary systems that will boost the stock prices of the military industrial complex of companies and continue the pad the nest of typical conservatives, like Saager.

Really great episode guys. Lots of great stuff to take away. Thanks as always!

Hey guys i just want to add that strasserism is state feudalism where each corporation is a representative and corporation has representatives that are workers, peasants, clerks and officials, industrialists, and the liberal professions. It's stupid and no conservative that I've heard of has advocated for anything remotely that.
