What We Are Reading (Patreon)

Howdy ya'll. This week we've got some interesting pieces spanning from ideology to John Cornyn. There is no shame in refreshing yourself with the classics, in fact, it is the only way to make sure that you are using these texts in the right way. We've been talking a lot about ideology lately, so I thought it would be important to take a dive into Marx's crucial theoretical work the German Ideology. It is crucial for a few reasons, one being his famous definition of ideology as the camera obscura If in all ideology men and their circumstances appear upside-down as in a camera obscura, but also because it represents a crucial shift in his thought from idealism to materialism. In the same vein, I also wanted to share some interesting reporting from Texas Observer, covering the rise of John Cornyn, know your enemy and all that.
