Michael, did you cancel Russell Brand in this interview? I'm still a big fan of his, though I'm certainly willing to criticize him if there's something I missed...

Thanks for great shows. Just wondering what is NATURAL about the flow of the politics we witness???? PLEASE do not get into this idealism ( as opposed to materialism)... I fear I am smelling a new new age worldview!!!! Also please do not tune poeple and masses into god. The masses and the majority are not alwasy right! I would really love to hear an interview with Zizek about spiritualism. THANKS again

Bijou Smith

Nor are the minority always right. People often survive on spirituality when they have rock bottom bare material means. If you fail to synthesise both materialism and spiritualism are you not missing half the story? Not everything is entirely material, and not everything is all idealistic, right? If we treat materialism and idealism as binary exclusions then I think we are indulging in elitism of one kind or the other. Eclecticism is healthier, even if it has contradictions. Such contradictions reflect our relative ignorance, and knowing we are fairly ignorant is healthy. Also, supposing you do have a pure materialist conception, then everything is physical, and hence natural, is it not? But that does not make it morally right. What part of politics is supernatural in your view?

thanks for your reply. let us start by defining terms: what do you man by idealism? I am taking the philosiphicla view of it: priority of idea to matter . No, noting is strictly and only material but I think that your jump form idealism to spirituality is not correct here. I did not talk about spirituality. and yes, of ocurse the minority is not always right either. But the cult of masses is dangerous. May be the problem IS that "People often survive on spirituality when they have rock bottom bare material means".... this spirituality betray their capability to reason and see the truth..... and not eveythig physical is natural ( in the sens that it could not be otherwise, hence should be accepted.) ... again what do you mean by supernatural? these terms are not interchangeable: idealism, spiritualty and supernatural.... .thanks again
