Can you please make the case for why you don't support the abolition of prison and how do you defend the system we have now or anything like it?

The absolute and complete abolition of prison isn’t a step forward, it’s a sidestep. IMOHO the prison system needs restructuring to where inmates, no matter their crime, at least get some semblance of rehabilitation. Many violent criminals are from impoverished areas, also there is the issue of psychological illness which needs treating not ignoring. It’s a huge deep subject but outright abolition would be an error, I feel.
