We'll have become like monks, very holy and thin. See it'll have to be something like that, some kinda utopia. If WE don't go Utopian, we're gonna die. The more people we have, the more monk like we're gonna need to be. Put on ur fuck'n robe and get ur flute, I mean it.

I am over 65 . Despite how terrible things are, it is also the most hopeful in my life time! Great discussion as always!

This past November, NYC instituted a $249 million policing program to catch metro fare evasion, which was costing the city $200 million in lost revenue. The city could simply save $49 million by eliminating that one program. With the economic situation, a lot more people may have an incentive to evade fares, but there has to be a fix that doesn't require increased criminalization and policing. I'm sure that's just one of dozens, or hundreds of line items in the city budget that needs to be looked at again.

Think tanks are turning into my favorite part of the show!

Man the cops hate you guys so much in NYC that they’re willing to hustle backwards financially. You know they despise workers when they are willing to break the number rule of capitalism just to make sure people don’t get a “free ride”. FTP

Thank you for talking about the horrendous behavior of Mayor Bowser. A lot of people who don't live in DC how many years she's been ignoring local activists who've been calling for a defunding of the police. How she's been actively contributing to the high cost of living here and rapid gentrification.

Every time I listen to the Michael Brooks show I feel the need to get more educated.

Any chance of getting this in the podcast feed as an audio? I didn't even know it existed as I'm one of those technologically-illiterates that only listens to you. :-) Thanks in advance!

Re: Brianna Last article about DSA: the number claimed was 1/3 of members (not 2/3) make over 100k— that number was from a self-selecting survey before some of the bigger membership spikes, when the average age of members was significantly older and whiter than it is now. Not to say the org still doesn’t still have big problems in terms of composition, but it’s certain that number is *burgis voice* complete bullshit.

Also re: philly dsa, while a lot of their most vocal haters may have wrongheaded politics and be personally toxic, that chapter’s leadership has been constantly stepping on rakes and making anyone with slightly different politics from leadership feel absolutely unwelcome. They’ve done some remarkable things— attended a “How to Run a Political Education event” workshop led by Brianna which was excellent—but theyre not exactly the chapter I would seek organizational advice from.
