Hey everyone, tomorrow evening we are going to be doing a Q+A stream. I'll be joined by Matt & Lisha. We will be taking superchats but I wanted to make sure that patrons are able to to questions in too. So comment below & we will try to get to as many as we can.

Please keep them brief so that we are able to focus our answers.

Thank you all again for the support.

Solidarity,

- David

Is there/can there be a TMBS Good Reads list?

Nancy McIlvaney

Much love to all of you. I’m wondering about the foundation you’ve talked about forming in Michael’s name and how it will function. I think of foundations as providing funding for non-profits. How will this foundation preserve and expand Michael’s vitally important work?

Tom Kelly

Regarding the foundation that's planned to be set up. What will its activity and funding be focused on - electoralism, labour/journalism, education, mutual aid, activism/protest resources? I'd be interested to see who and what groups would benefit from any funding and/or help the foundation would offer.

Much love and solidarity to everyone. Michael's passing and the recent increased emphasis in his talks about the Left needing to learn to be more in tune with spirituality inspired me to finally pick up my long overdue dusty secondhand copy of HH Dalai Lama & Howard C. Cutler's "The Art of Happiness - A Handbook for Living" and reading it really seemed to open some spiritual doors in me and light a spark in wanting to explore spirituality further, even going as far as trying some of the meditation practices detailed in the book. So my question is if in the future we could start seeing the spiritual aspect of Michael's project get more regular focus on the show?

EarthQuaeck

If you scroll down the TMBS feed there should be fairly regular “what we’re reading” posts 🙂👍🏻

Underrated and perhaps lesser known analytic and continental philosophers whose work on political philosophy, ethics/metaethics, philosophy of mind you find of interest (Question for David, specifically; I'm esp. curious about your thoughts on Hegelians like Robert Brandom, McDowell, Pippin, in addition to the continentals).

Spencer Hlava

Without a doubt one of the most important contributions Michael has made is broadening the discourse to always be cognizant of the international scope of the Left project and implications our actions have abroad. What ways can we continue to carry on that aspect of his mission, and what media/movements/perspectives do you see today acting in that spirit?

What were some of Michael’s favorite books?

Chinaman Jones

Continental phil after post-structuralism: specifically Badiou and Meillassoux but also Žizek, Dolar, Zupančič; these guys promote a kind of universalism based on class unlike the suspicion of Foucauldian genealogy qua epistemology. David, can you speak on the merits of Badiou and the return to rationalism in continental phil?

Javier Jusino

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION - BY NAS. As a NAS fan since 96, I can attest that this must have been at least top 10 on Michaels list

Justine King

In addition to the political project, people might enjoy hearing random personal stories or funny anecdotes about Michael in future shows within the range of what you're comfortable with sharing privacy-wise - maybe a little way to keep his spirit and energy with us since we miss him and loved having him in our lives

Theodorah Arthur

One of his favorites. Ghost Wars by Steve Coll. He read it often and we had to reorder it several times because the pages would fall out. After some time.
