The conclusion to the season was pretty good, some people thought it is conclusion to the whole show, but don´t worry s1 is like 10% of the story. Btw you were theorizing about Suabaru becoming Petelguese in the future, back in episode 18 when possessed Subaru was laughing like him :D Well it happened but probably not how you expected. I´m looking forward to the s2 and ovas. Great reactions thanks for the extra episode as well.

There was a few years in between seasons so I wouldn't be surprised if they thought they'd only get that one season so they stopped it at a good place to end. And that is the brilliance of the writing that there are questions that can be said to be cliffhangers but it's done so masterfully you don't see the questions right away. I can't wait for season 2. Not saying it's more traumatic than season 1, just that I cried more in Season 2 than season 1. It's a really good show.

It's also hilarious that less than a week beforehand Julius beat the crap out of Subaru, and now look at them tag teaming like they'd been doing it their whole life.

In my humble opinion, S2 is better than S1... I can't wait.

Double upload? Marco you are the best! Your reactions made me love Re:Zero even more.

Steve.

Subaru has probably the greatest single season character arc I’ve seen so far. This show truly made me fall in love with anime. One of the biggest takeaways for me is how it debunks and destroys the fairy tale/Hollywood idea of love. Subaru learned what loving someone really looks like, it’s often hard and painful and requires you to stop thinking about yourself. To lay down your “pride” interestingly enough. Hats off the screenwriters and director who were able to take 9 volumes of the novel and turn it into a superbly paced tv season. Tbh, I think the show is way better than the books I have not rewatched S2 yet so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can get out of it this time I will make an observation about Return by Death to close it out. When Subaru tries to speak of it, Satella grabs his heart. As the witch of envy it would make sense for her to do that… basically she wants to keep him all to herself

Seriously, the pacing of Re:Zero is incredible and there's so many compelling characters already. It is very fitting for witch of envy to act like that, it's such a simple thing, but I didn't really think about it in that way. The screwed up part is that Witch of Envy killed Emilia few episodes ago because Subaru didn't care what would happen to him, it's like she's aware that Subaru still has way to go so she's even willing to kill "herself" or her "vessel"

there's an after credit scene in the director's cut, it's also used as the start of season 2 for the people who haven't seen the director's cut. If you start watching season 2 just know that the first part of the episode was a cliffhanger we had to wait for 4 years to get closure!

Exactly. And its the most horrible kind of cliffhanger anyone could think of.

Director´s cut was release in January 2020 and S2 P1 in July 2020. But yes, having 4 year gaps between seasons feels like aeon.

I think there is an OVA and a movie in between the seasons, but I am not sure about the watch order.

Nykuro

Also now that you have seen re zero season one, you can watch re:zero in 10 minutes by gigguk if you need a laugh!

before season 2, you should (Super recommend) watch 2 OVA first. the first one to watch is memory snow and then watch frozen bond after. Good luck!
