On living in a complex world. (Patreon)

Just as the human being has become a more complex creature over time — more neural connections and physical abilities, more mental, creative, and relational capacity — so is the world becoming a more complex place, and at a rapid pace.
We are creatures designed by evolution to absorb information in order to inform our survival (and our thriving).
We are being given and shown and inundated with so. much. information. In this day and age.
So that the point now is not to reduce or avoid the complexity, but to instead…
Create room within oneself and one’s field to *hold* the amount of complexity in oneself, one’s relationships and personal world, and in the world at large.
…and…
To craft experiences of simplicity for ourselves.
We do so by taking pauses, resting, enjoying the simple pleasures.
We do so by orienting ourselves away from the tsunamis of information coming at us, always — and by being right here, right now.
Sweeping -this- floor,
having -this- conversation with a friend,
having -this- cup of tea,
making love in -this- moment,
dancing at -this- concert,
appreciating nature on -this- walk.
Strive to reduce all the complexity and you will struggle. It’s an unmanageable task. To resist what is, is to focus our energy in a way that feels uncomfortable in our body and being.
You have everything you need to allow your soul to be rested and soothed.
Even one little step is a step in the direction of coming home to yourself.
What if the chaos and complexity can be there?
What if it’s really is ok? What if it’s all part of the journey? What if there are lessons to distill from all of it? What if you can learn to appreciate it? What if you can even find joy and pleasure in it?
Embrace the complexity, and create a life that lovingly includes it…
Create simplicity for yourself regardless of what’s happening ‘out there’…
…and you will feel so much more ease in your body, your being, your relationships, your days.
And you deserve that.
My blessing to you on this day.
xoxo
