I have a sneaking suspicion Akko's gonna get her wish. I doubt she and Diana are the first witches (or maybe even witches and non-witch girls) to come to this tree for this purpose, and chances are love is already in the air, so to speak. They don't need to go public if they don't feel like it, and tie their bond in total intimacy - because after all, that's what it's all about, it's a promise of love you make towards your partner, not towards society. I really like how you contrasted Akko's complex problems-solving yet light behavior with Diana's, because you highlighted the fact that Diana can rely on Akko to make her take a deep breath when she needs it most. oh but eloping is still a legal contract that will be brought to the news, and it will bring the same "problems" a normal marriage will. Diana's fears are that do a legal Cavendish/Kagari union, recognized by magic and not magic laws, would have huge unwanted consequences for the both of them (first of all, being target of tabloits and similar). What Akko is proposing is instead something that has a meaning just for the two of them, leaving all the legal society issues outside (so like on the papers they are still unmarried... but that's anothr story :D)

Pfft, the next night, Akko lies down where Diana's pillow should be, patting her stomach as an invite. Also, I can just imagine Diana writing a pro/contra list for marrying Akko, with "I lover her most ardently (I still love that line from that japan visit comic because its so ridiculously Diana) on the pro, and "SHE STOLE MY STRAWBERRY" on the contra side.
