Channel Update - July 2018 | Behind the scene stuff and thoughts (Patreon)

Hello folks!

As I previously stated, I am still having a break from my “YouTube” channel. On the other hand, I am still doing some behind the scene stuff aka boring stuff. 

~~Asked people to share their GTA versions.Turns out various GTA releases and re-releases have a lot of mysteries and unique files inside. For instance, some countries were lucky and they got a new GTA re-release with some cool improvements, but others received a broken game. 👀I decided to start hunting these various versions. Of course, I didn’t want to buy them, because I can’t even predict what will I get and where to buy them. As a solution, I decided to ask my viewers on YT to help me:

Then I realized that I had to make some tutorials to show people how to properly dump their GTA games. At the same time I started to sort my own stuff to see what GTA versions I already have and list them in the tutorial.I tried to make these instructions as easy as I could saying that… you should install this…. you should click that… look at this and etc.I always knew that people are not familiar with this stuff and I was right. People were lurking through my tutorials and I tried to improve them as soon as I could. I am pleased with these tutorials, not to say that I wasted a lot of time making them. You can see them below. Unfortunately, there were few people, who dumped me their games, but thanks to them, I have a few more GTA versions and some of them are unique.

~~A few quick interesting facts about these versions

· There were at least two VC PC re-releases, which had cut soundtrack.

· I don’t know a single digital VC PC release, which has a cut soundtrack. The Steam PC version has a full soundtrack(!!!), even if you bought it yesterday. I checked it:

· Some countries were unlucky enough to receive a broken VC re-release.Would you be happy if your version always crashed during the second mission? I don’t think so.I think, I will make a video about this broken version and I think, I already told you about it in my previous posts, however I still don’t understand how many versions were affected by this bug. But anyways, the biggest question is how could they screw it?  😮 

· Do you remember that there was a dude who found alpha GTA 3 cars in GTA 3 mobile port? Turns out this file with these vehicles was already shipped with the JP PC version of GTA 3. What is more interesting, is the fact that this release was out in 2004 and we were blind. Isn’t it crazy?  🤔

· One Xbox version of GTA 3 still has 3 unused strings mentioning a cut “ferry” feature and not anywhere else. 🚢

· You probably know that GTA VC retail saves are not compatible with the Steam version. for some reason, the developers changed the save format in the steam version, which was an unnecessary thing to do. 

I might have a clue why they did that, and I will talk about it in “GTA VC Steam” video.

· There are semi Haitian-Friendly versions of VC. Semi friendly? Well, they did change the text strings, but not the audio files. What were they thinking?  😛

· Hunting continuous.  😅 

~~Bought some stuff

I also managed to buy some stuff for my channel.

For instance, I was lucky enough to find this brochure from Game ON exhibition 2002. I mentioned this exhibition a lot of times, but if you are not familiar with it, then, in short, you can find there several GTA 3 items, which were used during the development times of the game.

Despite the fact that it was dirt cheap, it has the official information about this exhibition and a few words about GTA 3 items (!). 

Do you know what is the best thing about it? It was written by Lucien King, who was a developer of GTA 3 and a curator of this exhibition. 

For me, it is a true gem, but for others – garbage. No wonder why the seller had no luck in selling it for at least two months.

But anyways, why did I buy it? Well, I still want to make a video about this exhibition and I am planning to use piece of history. The more I delay this video, the more stuff I find about this exhibition. Slowly, but surely.

I was also lucky enough to buy a licensed GTA – Tre Trilogy Mac Os release. 

I don’t have to think anymore if I have a real Mac Os release. I can always use it in the future videos. What about comparison? We will see. :P

Do you know what is a disappointment? During the shipment the case was damaged. On the bright side, the seller said that he will send me a new disc ASAP 😍

I also decided to buy these three JP PS2 releases. Thanks to my "GTA game hunt" I know that there are 3 different JP versions of every single GTA 3D game (3, VC and SA). Sadly, they are all the same having no differences or what so ever. I didn’t know that when I ordered these discs. I guess, I will sell them afterwards....and this SA disc… it smells like mold, but there is no surprise, its price was less than $1. I paid 6 times more for the shipping. VC and III JP disc are mint.

By the way, JP manual of GTA 3 was slightly changed. They decided to improve it and made it more appealing. 

Fun fact, Uzi’s icon in this manual was recolored. It is now white instead of yellow. If you don’t know, PS2 version of the game have gray weapon icons... not yellow, so the designer of this manual noticed it and fixed this flaw. What a nice guy.... unless English manual was also changed and they used it as a source. (I don't have "new" version and I can't be sure about that)😊

The truth is, I used my friend’s address in UK, because it was the cheapest option to get 9 different mags. He said that he already got them and soon enough he will start scanning them. 🤫

I also bought some more GTA things, but they turned out to be “meh” and I don’t see a point to write about them. Just disappointment.Okay, I ordered so called French GTA V guide from Square Enix. According to EAN, it should have had 20 extra pages. The truth is, it was just a translated English guide having no extra pages. Thanks to this prank, I have extra 2KGs in my closet. 😒

~~Future plans

I will continue to investigate various GTA re-release and their files. I want to sort them and identify their unique features. I have to do this boring stuff, because, well, who else will do that?
