The next patient will see you now Dr. @falco

Jamie Hauken

I am glad I am not a comedian so I don't have to think about jokes and humour the way Nick does. Thanks for doing all that to make us laugh.

jayslick

Oh so he is funny and therapist n got good hair? Wtf? Leave some for us

Jamie Hauken

What an interesting episode!

WawaWarrior

I appreciate that this episode is two spectrum skaters really delving in deep on how to handle social situations. Awesome learning experience

Jacob Sharp

I am in the center of the M2AF & Wine About It Venn diagram

Joshua

i hate how much incentive there is for clippers to drama bait on every little thing, i can't scroll twitter whiteout seeing some horrible out of context clip from a blue check account. And i havent been on lsf for a long while but last time i saw a clip there it was hosted on another website so they would get paid for the views or something dumb like that. money really ruins every thing, clips used to be "funny haha" now they are "i am mad about this and you should be too"

R

I'm surprised "masking" wasn't mentioned more/earlier in this conversation - a lot of what qt was saying really feels reminiscent of exploitation and "realising you were wronged previously" I have heard from neurodivergent women in my life (and to a lesser extent myself, but the way women and girls are trained to mask is a lot heavier than men/boys, imo.). I really like the way you put it into words sometimes, though, it feels more self-insightful than you (maybe) seem to give yourself credit for.

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

I love Nick Addressing the Vanilla and KatieB stream and that even the people around her were treating her incorrectly for it which he said. This includes Rae, much love, but saying someone is too white is also racist which was part of Rae's response to it on stream. We all make mistakes. QT said facts and it doesn't matter what her tone was, there was no hate in the words yet people treated her like she was worse than the pedo president of the United States

Marc !

I discovered M2AF because of QT's episode. I think maybe their older eps appeared in my algo but I didn't play console shooters in the 2000s and the title doesn't say much

Jamie Hauken

It felt ironic when Nick said "I hope you're employed" at the end of that because his talk about being nothing really reminded me of that period in my life because we all identify ourselves by our jobs too much and it can really hurt if that's missing.

WawaWarrior

Yeah, people sometimes jump the gun, but I don’t know man, the people who dropped QT over the most mild thing ever said because their fans took it to the farthest lengths away from the meaning aren’t good people. Rae did fumble with the “too white” line but I can see her trying to defend QT and even grasp somewhat of her intention was. That might be bias, but they’re friends, and I believe friends can always kinda overlook things and take your meaning as well as possible as person is able. Respect to Nick for validating that publicly tho

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

Absolutely! I don't mean anything negative with the "too white" line with Rae. It was a slip of the tongue, but it slipped a second time in Utah. We can clearly see they are fiends. Actions vrs poor choice of words. Nick is clearly a good friend as is Valkyrae. I love the stance of needing to show and teach others love and acceptance and not isolating them into hate filled communities.

NickJ

Nick is very emotionally intelligent that’s so cool to see

Adrien🍀

i love therapy time with nick

Kc

is someone who is autistic, qt's experience of not actually processing what you're saying in the middle of a conversation is something that happens to me all the time. Like im so focused on just the flow of the interaction and saying the right thing that I don't always process WHAT I'm saying or if I actually mean it or agree with it

froglien

literally this made me have more progress on cleaning my room and getting rid of stuff than ive had in the last year... DO THIS MORE OMG something in me just gets lit and ZOOOMMM but yassssss i love this

Reg Wilding

I love how earnest and empathetic Nick was, you can tell he cares deeply for QT. One of my fave episodes ever, top 5 easy. I love when we attempt to dig deeper inside ourselves.

Alec Smith

HoF episode, wish everyone had a friend as emotionally in tune as Nick

Natalie Clark

the famous cousin bit makes so much more sense now

Carto

Wow what a good episode!

Kc

one of my favorite episodes

Autie Dino

i feel like the comedy changing bit was really eye opening as a casual Yard watcher

spam_musubi2

This is such a good ep, I wish more people would sub to the Patreon just to hear it. Also I agree with Nick when he said it was unfair what happened to QT. Couldn’t agree more— even my bf (who isn’t brain rotted by the internet) understood what QT meant and he has never watched her before. It doesn’t help QT that the one place where ppl go to see others opinions is Twitter, cause that site is a cesspool of hatred and just drama. Literally filled with people lying for clicks. I do think people (that have jobs and watch streamers) come home from work and open twitter and see those captions and just take it at face value. They don’t care if it’s right or wrong. Unfortunately, I noticed a lot of YT channels are doing the same thing that Twitter does to get clicks too.

NHK Bro

the slime episode now the nick episode and honestly both are such deep conversations i wish the boys would speak more like this on the yard

W3TB4115

I love silly stupid humor as well, nick has definitely "trained" lud a bit into leaning more into the silliness, recently those two have been having banger episodes.

Samuel Eagan

this is genuinely my favorite crossover ever and i dont have anyone to tell about it

Stephhh! A

I absolutely love these deep conversations with guests, I love being able to see all the guests that truly do love and care for QT and for Rae 💕💕

starlitstellaa

damn this episode was exactly what i needed. i've been feeling like i'm swimming with no lighthouse for months at this point, and i've never heard anything that helped as much as this

Caitlyn Carter

My mind was absolutely blown by Nick describing how he isn't affected if someone points out how someone mistreated him but he didn't catch it at the time. I'm so curious how others feel about this? My mind works much more like QTs where how I feel about a situation can be heavily influenced by the narrative told around it - and can change as that narrative changes. Is this something common among people with traumatic childhood experiences?

O G

That's so funny cause I watch the first video on YouTube and one of the first comments said something about him mentioning high school within 20 minutes lol I didn't get it, just thought it was a Yard reference.

bee

The Vanilla/KatieB/QT stream situation, and the way people online treated QT afterwards (TikTok especially got really, really unkind) genuinely STILL makes me so frustrated, because it's such a wilful bad faith interpretation of QT's words and intentions, especially when what she was saying was SO normal and reasonable. It's sooo aggravating to watch that in real time be twisted into an awful, evil version of what was actually meant, and see people relish and revel in being mean about it. Like parasocial shit aside it is INFURIATING to watch people behave that way, it bothers me so much. Nick is totally right that it was unreasonable, but I also understand how QT has to internalise at least some of that response when it's coming from "friends", and affects how she's able to do her job. Maddening. I am enjoying this conversation a lot!

Mary Fuller

This was such a therapeutic bonus episode, I loved it 💞

Isaac Ziegler

Holy crap I need more of this, I love the wisdom that Nick brings, their dynamic is so natural and they bring so much to the table together.

Mary Fuller

I very much agree that people overreacted and didn't give her a fair shot, most of your comment is correct. I definitely defended QT in that situation consistently. But Rae saying "too white" was not racist, especially in the context of how people(especially those that don't know her) were going to view her when it comes to her discussing marginalized communities.

Jamie Hauken

I've sent so many post-hangout elaborating text messages.

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

Strongly disagree, saying anyone is too white, too black, too asian etc. is a racist comment regardless. Nobody can be "too" anything they can't change about themselves and if it's tied to race, it makes it a racist comment. White communities have been marginalised too. I'm 100% Irish and when my dad was young he visited London when they had the "No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish" signs everywhere. The point is, leave race out of it because it is indeed racist.

Angel Lendechy

Nick really is a breath of fresh air to listen to. Hope we see him and the yard boys more in the future.

Heather McKirdy

I don’t normally comment on here, but thought I’d just say I loved this episode. Nick seems like such a thoughtful friend and guest. The way he talked about qts forgiveness actually made me think about my own experiences because I to sometimes confuse kindness for forgiveness

kaloncpu57

There are dozens of us!

Lilith

I dunno, not trying to be negative or contrarian, but I can see why people were upset with what QT was saying in the stream with KB and VM. The anger and hate towards QT was inflated and not warranted, at the same time, I don't think what she was saying was fair to say to queer people and their queer audience, given it wasn't really an active conversation. VM was also getting a lot of hate from the Faze fans after this, which I believe that community is behind a lot of woman hating and clip farming happening in the wider twitch community IMO. So I don't think KB and VM are wrong for wanting to steer away from the Faze boys and anyone who collabs with them, even though that's not entirely fair to QT to write her off after one flub.

kaloncpu57

Nick is so on point with the Melee/lighthouse thing. My Melee in my early 20s was Pokkén Tournament, with the same backstory of always being the best at games in my circles until I found a truly competitive community that humbled me in a motivating way. I'm sure the actual social community aspect played a big part too, but these days I do miss how good I felt when working on a craft like that for the sake of being human and enjoying the process of learning and improving.

Carly

Such a goated ep 🐐

LeahGia

tbf I don’t think Rae was ever saying QT actually IS too white. she’s just a Taylor Swift loving formally mormon white girl and the privilege of being white may result in QT for instance getting less benefit of the doubt that she understands the lived experience of those who might be less privileged based on their race or identity in this specific instance. doesn’t even mean that ends up being fair always but it’s a reality of our current state/climate especially.

Caris 🦘

I do love when Nick is featured on other podcasts or content in general where he can speak on a more candid and thoughtful level, he's got that wisdom and healthy outlook towards a lot things that can be really eye opening and reassuring to listen to. loved this ep 🫶

spana

nick the wise

spana

gotta become a patreon for their advice show bro

Mia Luna

Genuinely as a gay QT fan, I fought the internet all day that day. It was obvious that my girls just bad with her words, but she’s kind. They painted her crazy, and her arrangement of words was rough, but ultimately, I’ve been fortunate enough to watch long enough that I knew she meant well??? ❤️‍🩹

Kyle Valley

Im here from the rae and slime episode and I was going to cancel and it gave me a discount now im still here for this

ricardo

I hope nick knows the sorts of bits that he runs now is still funny to the real heads, its really just not that hard to tell when its a bit. I think it still works

Denshi

HARD AGREE with Nick talking about shutting people down if they aren't perfect allies. As a stanch leftist and queer person the way QT was treated in that situation never sat right with me, The comments on tiktok etc thrown at QT were some of the meanest shit I have ever read in my life and those people making those comments at the end of the day were no better than the people they were complaining about. I'm 1000% still not over how QT was treated in that whole situation.

SVZN77

how can one man be so wise yet still have such goofy ass jokes...

Nina

Qt tell nick that there’s a lot of people (me) that have been enjoying his extra silliness and it IS very funny

Nina

yeah i also agree. like i told my brother who doesn’t watch her that she was getting “cancelled” and explained what happened he said he had seen the clip and that she is being cancelled for being a nice person who wants to do good in the world and have a positive influence, instead of having a mob mentality of “you either agree with me 100% right now or you’re over” i agree with him. he also said that vanilla’s response to it was shitty to qt. which i agree with also, and it made me sad tbh

Nina

nicks theory being literally just that she’s masking 😭😭

linda

can’t believe nick is qt’s new therapist

Alexis Grace

I totally relate to QT thinking that people are joking - like it’s baffling to me someone could be like mean or say something intentionally hurtful that’s not intended to be satirical/a joke

Nina

dude i NEED a nick-qt spin off, they are so good at it 😭 he’s a good maya sub

peepeefart420

I don't comment much but wow we really need more nick and qt content, he was my favorite guest episode ever. I know you were joking about an every once in a while podcast but I would love it!!

Murkus

The way QT got treated for such a normal mature stance on how other real people should still be treated as people that can grow was crazy to me, and still bothers me. She was 100% right and people just had incredible bad faith. I don't understand how people can be so hungry to just want to cast away everyone in their life, and hungry for other people to do the same. Yes it's a very needed sacrifice sometimes but if someone like QT can afford not to do it then I think the world slowly becomes a better place for it.

Torayume

This ^^^ I thought we want to move toward a positive and loving future, not burn more bridges and torch more people. Especially to people who were trying to be on your side.

Torayume

I disagree with Nick but it's a subjective opinion of course - I like when streamers go live and we dunno what they gonna do and discover something fun to do. Versus having curated content like tv programs like "today we're gonna be aliens or be old ppl" like Faze. I'm in the comfy corner vs needing to be prepared for some special programming. But that's difference of preferences, as a content maker, especially if you want quality - I get his view.

bee

I'm personally much more like Nick in the way I interpret someone's actions towards me - although I can't always immediately articulate the issue, I feel it right away, and my feelings rarely change after the fact. However, the time that it takes to be able to articulate the feeling can vary a lot for me! There have been times in my life where I've lacked a strong sense of self, and in those times I really struggle to "place" negative emotions or grievances, if that makes sense. I think that what QT is experiencing sounds like a more extreme experience of that, where the underlying hurt or anger must be there somewhere, but it seems like it takes another person doing the articulating of it to actually manifest and realise it. I think QT has spoken about struggling with depersonalisation in the past, and I wonder if it's related to that? Super interesting. Brains and bodies and emotions are so weird!

kron

Most charitable interpretation, which still isn't that charitable, is that people thought she was saying she was better than her trans sibling for not cutting off her dad, when her trans sibling did. Which I think was totally purposeful misunderstanding because we all know, and QT has expressed this before, that she does not believe that. She was speaking specifically from her perspective as a cisgender straight person who can emotionally afford to maintain a relationship with her father, and incrementally try and change his mind and soften his heart to trans existence. I am still thinking of better ways to express this idea that won't be perceived as a slight against trans people who may think, "so if you are saying I can't afford it, does that mean you believe I'm weaker or less resilient to bigotry?", which I totally don't believe, if anything they are probably way more resilient because they have dealt with it all their life.

Mando Chil

Wait I didn't know Nick was wise 🦉

rory montreuil

“I think I’m out of my pay grade there” had me crying 😭

Bella

don’t normally comment but this episode is insanely good. the flow of the conversation and introspection kept me so engaged the whole time. Good episode guys :)

kron

This is going to sound really dramatic, but in this internet sphere female streamers are like second class citizens. QT and Maya, or QT and Rae literally could not have this exact conversation without it getting fucking leaked and boosted on twitter as drama. The privilege of a guy like Nick or Slime who doesn't have this massive hate complex because they are not A. streamer personalities. (they do stream, but we can understand the difference between them and Ludwig, not just in terms of audience size) and B. are men. Like it's so surreal how a lesser observed person can have more leeway to speak honestly.

Cheeroh

i’m not personally a listener of the yard so wasn’t familiar with nick, but he seems like a really solid dude. this was a great convo! congrats on becoming an aunt rae 🫡

BisonHero

Why can't my therapist also explain my problems to me using a Shadow Link analogy.

mars

both the main ep and the patreon ROCKED this week like the main was the funniest thing to me bc not a single thought or sentence was completed but this patreon had so many fruitful conversations. dare i say one of the best guests. also i remember on the yard x wine about it in pajamas episode i was literally asking for a nick x maya spinoff but i think a nick x qt spinoff might be equally good. good shit guys.

Jamie Hauken

I feel like for me, it's both having a weaker connection to my body and emotions and needing time to process and interpret and bring that together as well as asking for validation from the person you are telling about it because you still don't fully trust your reaction, so you say it in a way that draws a reaction. I can't imagine not being bothered in hindsight when someone points something out to me because I guess I do heavily rely on outside people to help with my understanding of, for example, social interactions. Maybe Nick is just more confident and secure in general. Good for him. And cool that he shares his perspective and also tries to learn others.

Mary Fuller

That's not how it works, saying you're "too Irish", or "too Italian" is racist yes because of historical context, but "too white" does not fall into that for the same reason.

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

if saying someone is "too black" is racist. Then "too white" is racist. That's how it works whether you like it or not. Even a simple google will say yes, it's racist.

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

It is incredibly concerning the amount of responses thinking "too white" is an ok thing to say. Folks, it's racist. Do not normalize this.

Ría Ní Shuilleabháin

Then say QT is less exposed to some cultures and has some aspects of a privileged upbringing. "Too white" is incredibly damaging with the current state/climate globally.

DeftCG

1:02:00 thank god Nick is a chad and brave enough to stand up for QT here as her friend who actually knows her and cares. So many in the circle were flaky which was disappointing, but I'm trying to give props to Nick not hate on people who didn't stick up for her.

DeftCG

Yeah that's pretty in line with what Nick said, I think he's pretty aware of the double standards people are holding in the space. It's unfortunate that more of the powerful women in the space didn't hold the line, since they are largely the ones who signal what is acceptable, but they certainly face harsher blowback when they do. That whole thing would have gone down much differently if the women around QT has just supported her and modelled even a low level of good faith interaction. Also some significant failures on the male side there, but again I'm not going to name names, it's a negative externality, not just the responsibility of the streamers

Kenzie M

A 12/10 ep but I’m particularly glad nick spoke out about the vanilla situation, that was bogus and such a double standard and so wildly unfair to qt and I’m honestly still not over it. I cannot look at her the same way, I’ll never get how she could throw a friend to the wolves over a little pressure from middle schoolers online.

Jeff G

48:05 the brain lag is so real

Aimee Garcia

the both of you utilized every single minute of this podcast and enjoyed it sm lmao

Lauren

*Raise hand* white girl, swiftie who loves Disney here!

Armandogiovani Zuniga

Exact same thought came to me when he was talking about this lol

Hector Hernandez

To me, Nick is and has always been the funniest member of the yard for as long as I’ve listened to it. So it sucks that he feels that way about his humor. But a good reminder that everyone is human and is insecure about something whether its irrational or not

Daidreemer

I love nick and how positive and supportive he is with QT and how he tells her how her reactions are normal.

Jello Monster

I could've listened to the whole 6 hour ep. This was such a treat and nice listen.

Mini

Vanilla literally didn’t do anything but say she was uncomfortable with the conversation. She actually said that even before the backlash started, in the exact same VOD that caused said backlash. That’s not throwing a friend to the wolves. She just didn’t agree since she’s queer woman herself and that’s normal. And calling grown adults who didn’t like what was said “middle schoolers” is odd and minimizing.

Mandy Groening

I want to have a conversation with someone like this. I love the depth and introspection .

Adrien🍀

idk if nick will see this,, but on m2af can you please play world at war zombies,, its the one i played with my brother growing up, and has the easiest and hardest zombie maps so maybe alex will live longer

annabella

1:02:17 pierce the veil mentioned

LordeofClover777

Ive never played an xbox game in my life and I love m2af, the minecraft poptart ranking video was art.

megan

10/10 Patreon content.

Anja Miller

So much bigotry stems from being uneducated. Some are worth to have those discussions with in the right setting and some are not. I think streamclippers do that shit in bad faith a lot of the time

BabyKillBill

Oh wow, probably one of my most favorite episodes. QT we think a lot alike, and I loved his dissection of it. 10/10 episode!

Azzy

This was an S-Tier episode! Nick is so insightful.

Kingsley

I loved watching this after the newest episode 173 it just gives extra incite to the whole friendly worker vs. friends dynamics

Ash

This is literally my favorite episode EVER!

10nita

This might be my favorite episode ever

lili

why do I suddenly want Nick from the yard, famous misogynist, as my therapist

Alex

No.
