I have two questions for you along with some other updates.

1. Do you like the idea of the Noise Riser being premade and lasting 4 or 8 bars and always sound perfect?

2. Or a Noise Riser you manually control and can last any length of time?

In the video demo I show off the premade riser. I called the new template  "Techno Performance Template" in the video, but it is now called 'Octatrack Performance Template 3.0'.

Please tell me your thoughts.

Best,

Matt

The prebuilt one sounds pretty great, my OT fader is pretty grippy so it's quite hard to do smooth fades with it. Keen to hear the new Octacosm stuff!

Seegman

Sounds Great! I would keep it

Matthew Davis

I like the pre-made risers idea. That one sounds great too

Having a selection of premade and the possibility for us to customize by adding our own risers, that would be amazing

I’ve been trying to recreate a riser effect I used on guitar in the 90s, with an 80s black Arion digital delay that I’d set up to gradually send it into self-oscillation, and then suddenly cut it off. Like in an old King Crimson track. Your idea to use white noise seems ideal, as I imagine it would take the clean underlying track and gradually cover it with the white noise. I love that Surco riser already, an alternative would be nice to experiment with! I’ve already got a Zoia that is essentially just emulating the Fairfield & Montreal Assembly pedals I used to have, but to free it up by putting them on the OT, maybe on separate Parts, would be extremely useful! Also… any idea when you could have a couple of those OT magnetic template strips ready? I got a guy coming over from Toronto in May that could smuggle them into Europe for me…

I’m keen to have the noise riser be controllable, but that one does sound nice. You mentioned four risers per part maybe a mix of pre made risers and ones that are filtered noise that can be as long or short as desired could be cool.

Agree with the others that is sounds really great as is & makes it really simple. Super work. I don’t know how many times a month I’m saying how delighted I am to support you on here. Very excited about the multi effects pedal, that’s sounds very cool. I have many pedals & an OT so always trying to balance that for live. Thanks again for your dedication.

sounds wicked, i think i would be going for the finished one, as you could concentrate on other stuff like muting and such while the riser builds up and not have to control the riser....

Nejm Benessaiah

I love it. So useful. It would be nice to have a variety, say one per part to keep things interesting, maybe 2 pre-made from samples, 2 variable from noise

BLAIX

60% of the time, it works every time.

BLAIX

I would love the ability to control it manually so I can do 4 bar risers or 16 bar... and not be limited to only 8 at a linear rise..

ezbot

That’s very easy to do!

ezbot

I think I’ll put a controllable riser on Part 4 aka Party and the rest will all be automated

ezbot

Dont let your dreams be dreams!

I feel as though locked to 4 or 8 bars is great for making it all user error friendly. However i would love to see it be unchained and controllable, makes for more fun improvising i feel

ezbot

I agree but the way the OT works we can only have 1 or the other. I plan to make a 3rd version with all the risers being manual but offering less risers.

killer beez

In that case in reference to you your initial question Manual is the way to go! Thanks as always Matt

ezbot

The magnet strips are almost finished!

Adam Stetzer

I also like the idea of locking it up to a fixed time so that I can’t mess up the timing (as easily).

CaptainJayJays

Wouldn’t you rather sacrafice a track on the digitakt or syntakt to hold the riser and bring up that track vol in a scene instead of losing a track on the octatrack, which are so precious 😅? Sorry if i missed something here, Im new to Elektron devices and might need some training wheels. Btw, thanks so much, Matt, for these videos. I was about to throw the octatrack out the window a few times before i found you, now I love it!

ezbot

The idea is that you use the Octatrack just for effects and write your music on other boxes with many of these templates.
