Hey friends,

Hyper FX Template beta is available for download (beta 2, please read below)

Please watch the video to learn how to use it. I will be releasing a detailed outline with instructions when I deem it ready for a full 1.0 release.

The template includes 64 FX, 4-bar looper, and a pre-programmed MIDI track with CC64 looping continuously for relative MIDI messages with applicable MIDI controllers. All banks and patterns are populated with the template at a default tempo of 120. Press YES to arm the 4-bar looper and MAKE SURE CUE MUTES TRACK is disabled on your Octatrack. I use the CUE bus to sum all the tracks for the 4-bar looper. Expect track 4,6,7, and 8 to be CUED.

PLEASE report your favorites to me and least favorites.

9.16.24

Resolved several pops and clicks

No longer clicking on dry audio in

Resample track is now unity gain

Tempo changed to 120

Trig HOLD is now enabled on Track 5. Press HOLD to capture audio up to 4 bars at any time. Recording is quantized to a 16th note, and playback will loop if less than 4 bars. Press YES to record a quantized 4 bar segment at the beginning of the next 4 bars. Use scene 16 (crossfade quickly) to transition to your recording. Time-stretch is on by default.

Best,

Matt

Will check this out asap!

ZPURPZ

Btw I totally agree with ure choice on omitting the compression! Also, VERY excited for the new Techno template ! Hopefully it comes with multiple looper options (and overdub if possible?)

oscidigi

Definitely testing this tonight, thx man!

Brendon Brooks

I'll run this on my dual OT setup this weekend. Octatrack 1 (Analog Rytm Mk2 & Octatrack 2) Octatrack 2 (Syntakt & Digitone)

ezbot

Can only overdub if the OT is the master

ZPURPZ

Ive switched up my entire setup, so making OT the master isn’t a problem for me anymore 😆

ZPURPZ

I replied, but it seems my reply didn’t post. Anyways, i’m down to make OT the master ! It would just be sending clock and transport into the Oxi one at that point

Nice - I especially love the new fx on 10+ in part 4 with flanger and such. However it seems like B is not as loud as A in all (?) cases. I couldn't find any volume setting bugs. Maybe you have an idea... Especially in the 4-bar-looper on 16 you can easily hear this.

2nd Interval

Found the bug. Actually, Cue mutes track must be enabled. If I understand this correctly: As Track 4 must be cue'd in order to being recorded by track 5 (4-bar-loop), it must be muted. Otherwise it plays the cue through main even though level is xmin when in scene b on 16.

2nd Interval

That's why it's louder and that's why I heard a double recording on 16 with slight latency.

ezbot

Glad you like it! Regarding the volume issues, that might be your crossfader needing calibration, i am not having this issue and the other beta testers haven't reported this.

2nd Interval

Thanks for the reply. There is a bug in the octatrack, which vanishes after a reboot. Interesting.

2nd Interval

However your template has a bug: The cue volume of track 4 should be 127 instead of 108. This makes the volume difference.

Brendon Brooks

General feedback: Having the Hyper FX on both OT's worked pretty well. I tend to prefer using Hyper and Corpo for percussion. Zone and Dream complimented the Digitone and Syntakt for lead, arp and baselines. Not hearing too many pops or clicks. I'll try some sample-based workflows with AR MK2. Great job as usual!

Ethan Gross

Lets Go! Thank you Matt!

2nd Interval

For the sake of completeness: The double playback with latency was caused by having headphones in the mixer play both cue and main. Turning the mixer to main only fixed it. However, the cue volume of track 4 is still subobtimal, I have set all 8 cue volumes to 127, that fixes all volume issues.

Nathan Hicks

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but when I started sending a longer sample from the Digitakt, I noticed a subtle clicking. I thought it was my sample or even the Digitakt at first, but then I swapped back over to the UltimateFX template and the clicking went away. I'm wondering if it has to do with the constantly refiring flex track recordings?

ezbot

That might be the case, I will investigate!

Nathan Hicks

I figured it out! It was user error. Nothing wrong with the template. I had a hidden LFO that was creating the pop

ezbot

Yeah it should! I didn’t notice that, I must have missed that. All the other tracks are 127

ezbot

Great feedback!

ezbot

RESOLVED. Attack on AMP on TRK 1 was set to 2. Causing a click every bar on the 1.

Toff.Chunks

Wow Ezbot madness again!!!! BIG THANK for all the work you do !!!!! (even i stay with hybrid template and learn everyday how to use it )))) Many thanks one more times !!!!

James Huth

Hi Matthew - Just re-watched your older video "Your Modular Synthesizer's Best Friend: The Elektron Octatrack". I am just starting to explore combining my modular with my OT for live performances. I'd like to prioritize using the OT as a live looper for my modular so that I can make smoother transitions between patches when playing live. Any advice about which of your templates I might start with? (i.e., you've come out with many new templates since the video above was released.)

ezbot

I think the Hybrid Template is pretty great for pairing with the modular. You'll have all the performance FX and a few tracks for sampling your modular.

ezbot

Hey Toff! Thank for the continued support :)

Jim Arbon

How the heck did you get it to resample on the fly so quickly?! 😄

ezbot

Microtime the playback forward. You can only reduce the rate and pitch but its pretty powerful for looping and time stretch.

oscidigi

Hey gang, might be a silly question but how do you clear the recording buffer in Scene 16 once you've recorded a 4 bar loop?

ezbot

just record again and it will clear

oscidigi

Thx figured that out about 4 minutes after posting ; ) We're doing it live w/ this template tomorrow night! TBD!

Jim Arbon

I getcha - noice. You’re an Elektron wizard, dude!
