In this session we created some patterns from scratch with a combination of eurorack and the Octatrack, experimented with the Mandrake, an all-analog Kick drum, and the Arkan, a bipolar VCA. We also did some sampling and discussed the advantages of digital oscillators with analog filters.

My thoughts on the Mandrake are quite positive. It has a great analog sound, which many people prefer. However, for me, if a sound is good, it doesn't matter if it was generated through analog or digital circuits. Moving on to the Arkan, it is a fantastic piece of kit and extremely useful in any modular system. Bipolar VCA's are just great to work with.

Towards the end of our session, we processed the OP-1 Field with the Desmodus Versio Reverb and the Make Noise Mimephone delay, both of which produced some amazing results. Thanks for tuning in, and I hope you enjoy the video! Don't forget to join me for the next episode of Elektron Talk!
