Ultimate FX Template: My Response To Your Feedback (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone,
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who participated in the 1.1.3 Template feedback post. Your input has been incredibly helpful.
Based on the feedback, it appears that 50% of you are interested in having "weirder FX" similar to those in my original Performance Template 2.3.5. However, there is also a desire for Sample Tracks in the new Template. Let me address these two points separately.
Weirder Effects: Effects like auto-glitch, 1/2 speed playback, reverse echo freeze, and other unique effects from my old template pose difficulties for live performance and are not particularly suited for genres like techno and house music. While it is not challenging for me to add these effects, the question arises: would you prefer FX that are always usable and easy to perform live with, or FX that are unique but more challenging to use live?
Sample Tracks on Ultimate FX Template: To incorporate Sample Tracks, the compromise is that the loopers will be removed. Unfortunately, there is no way around this caveat. I can certainly add a version like this to the template, but it will take significant time and effort to replace with relevant FX and is not currently a top priority for me. My current plan is to release this version of the template without new FX added, but with empty scenes for you to utilize with your two sample tracks.
What's Next: I am currently working on a second version of the Ultimate FX Template, which will be called "The Ultimate Techno Template." This version will feature 8-bar FX timelines, where an effect's automation will begin on step one of bar 1 and conclude on the last step of bar 8. Some new FX will be introduced, but most of the existing FX will remain as they were originally designed for live techno performances. The loopers will remain at 4 bars. You may wonder why 4 bars? The reason is that loops need to be recorded in real-time, so an 8-bar loop would require you to record for 8 bars before playing back another 8-bar loop. This would result in 16 bars of the same audio, which is not ideal for live performances (although I am open to debating this). Additionally, I am planning to create a 4-track template, providing 4 tracks for samples and 1 bus for processing external audio. The caveat here is that you will not have melody/drum bus splits, so the FX will be more generic but still enjoyable and usable.
MIDI Controller Integration: FaderFox EC-4 and SHIK controller templates/sysex will be included in an upcoming update. I have two shows this month and need to dedicate time to preparing my sets, so the update may not be available until the end of the month.
Thank you all for your continued support and valuable feedback. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding as I work on implementing these updates. If you have any further thoughts or suggestions, please feel free to share them.
All the best,
EZ
